Spent a few nights here. Lovely beach pitches. Hot shower, pound.
It is a site that's is left to campers to setup etc.
A site with no rules. Lots of lovely beaches on the site. Lots of families about. Right next to the Traigh bay, safe shallow swimming.
Toilets and showers were clean, although busy.
We had a noisy group next to us, drinking till 1am. That was the only downer.
The site was bursting in the hot weather at the weekend.

Visited this site July 2011. Stayed 2 nights.
Costs were £17. 00 per night for 3 adults plus hook-up. My first impressions were mixed. Although there were hook-ups no site spaces were marked for use. People just parked and hooked up without bothering to leave space for other vehicles. Tents were scattered everywhere. The toilets were very basic with only one shower in the Ladies. £1 charge for this. The only time we saw someone was when payments were called for.
On the plus side, the views were to die for. If I go back to Arisaig again I will not use this site.

Only site we could get a pitch on as we turned up in peak season without booking. People were pitched everywhere, too close together for us.
Toilets/showers were below standard for me and I wouldn't use them especially when you also had to pay £1. 00 extra for the privilege.
Told just to pitch where we could and fees were collected following day, lady was friendly enough though.
Looks like they are extending the site for more pitches so hopefully they'll improve the whole general set up as this has a great location.
Been to arisaig before and can't recommend a better area for beaches and views, especially the sunsets.

What a beautiful place, the site is breathtaking, little coves, lagoons, sandy beaches, clear blue sea and sun sets.
You arrive, pitch where you want and they come and take the money in the morning or evening so it’s pretty relaxed. There were plenty of hookups. The toilet block is very basic and there is no toilet roll or soap for washing hands. The washing machines and dryer are very old and I didn’t trust them so didn’t use them. There is no shop or a pub nearby. There are a few piles of debris so it looks like they might be making the site a little larger. The owners are very friendly and amiable.
So although the site facilities are basic I would nevertheless recommend this site, it is absolutely wonderful if you want natural beauty. The children were playing in the rocks and coves, or making sandcastles so they were all happy. Some tents had literally pitched right on the beach, what a view to wake up to! We stayed two nights, and didn’t leave the site, there was no need.
We’ll definitely be going back.

Really enjoyed our week here. Breathtaking location overlooking a sandy shallow bay where the kids and adults can have hours of fun building sandcastles, splashing, swimming, snorkeling, rockpooling, collecting 'wulks' (winkles) and mussels, crabbing and kayaking. Wetsuits recommended, water baltic even in August. Sunsets to die for. Maybe not the best place for toddlers as a few 10ft cliffs around shoreline and no play park.
No advance bookings taken so hit and miss if there's a space. No reception just turn up and look (hope) for a pitch. Dont get confused with the CL site at the entrance. The friendly owner (Cath) will come round in the morning to say hello and collect monies. Decent value at £10 a night for a 4 person (small family) tent. Big level pitches scarce so not realy suited to very large tents. Midges not too bad on pitches near the shore due to the wind. Pitches by the trees at the back more sheltered but more midges, take your pick. Nice to see a mix of tents and vans all in together. Accepts dogs on leads, no fires allowed.
Basic facilities a wee bit dated. Toilets (take own toilet paper), dishwashing area, chemical toilet diposal point, deepfreezer for ice blocks, one male one female shower (£1) washing machine + dryer(£2 each). Spar shop, cafe and restaurant in Arisaig (3mls south). Fuel and Thai takeaway (mmm) in Morar (3mls north). Good boat trips (Ewan Nicholson) in Mallaig (6mls north) as well as a swimming pool for the rainy days. No pub within easy walking distance. Walking distance to Traigh 9 hole golf course.
In summary a good value campsite in a great location with basic facilities.

Beautiful little spot. Very basic site. Shower was £1 but was hot so can't complain. Would definitely come back!
There were a few other tents there which I am glad about, the static caravans around the back of the site were all a bit tired looking.

This has been our 2nd year at silver sands we had a great time at this site. Very friendly atmosphere the beaches are beautiful and secluded and the sunset at night is stunning. Cathy the owner is really nice and welcoming. Very basic toilet and showers facilities and outdoor sink for washing dishes. Loads of places for the kids to explore i.E rockpools beaches coves, while the adults can sit back and relax, or take a leisurely walk to the beautiful sand dunes nearby. Only 1 shop in Arisaig. But it does sell most things, nearby mallaig is a must and the seafood in the local restaurant is superb.
I would thoroughly recommend this site as one of the best in Scotland, and yes we will be back 2009

I have been to this site a few times and its as breathtaking each time.
Its basic, but has toilets, shower and hot water for dishes with a sink outside. Sometimes hot water is a little low.
You can have a fire on the beach which is right there on your doorstep! if your careful where you pitch you can fall onto the beach. There are loads of rockpools to explore and lots of rocks to scramble. The bay is fantastic for kids as it has no real dangers. Apart for it being really really cold! Great coves for exploring in canoes/kayaks, Big swells into morar bay.
There is a cottage that you can hire and is really reasonable in price and some static caravans which have uninterupted views of the sea.
It can be really windy as there is nothing between you and the islands or Skye Eigg Rumm and Muck.
Never had midges on this site unless you go into the woods next door. The sea breeze helps this. The sea is clear and the wildlife are in abundance.
Kathy is lovely and very chatty, loves children.
There are no real rules on this site. The people I have met have been so friendly and its a very family orientated camp site. People returning generation after generation.
Its a good 9 hours for me to get to this campsite but its well worth it!
Ok the down sides.
If you dont like basic. Its not for you. Loads of spiders in the toilets, no heating, one shower for the lads one for the lasses.
Its sometimes very busy on the weekends so arrive midweek and you'll have a better choice of pitch. When it is very busy you'll be stepping over guy lines everywhere, its not formal pitching. Friends can all pitch together however you want.
I've only seen one group who were potential trouble. Lads drinking weekend but the campers soon made sure they left the next morning!
Had many a good night by a fire on the beach listening to the waves crashing and playing my sax.
Gets dark in august about midnight but then never really dark.
Well recommended

This is one great campsite if you like to do your own thing pick your own pitch and are happy with basic facilities. The views to the isles and the sunsets are simply stunning. The owner is very pleasant and welcoming and access to the beach is on your doorstep. Its a great stop off point on the way to or from Skye.

WOW ! What a site. Totally wild. Very basic amenities, and we mean basic ! But you will not believe the atmosphere unless you try it. Camp in the dunes by the beautiful Silver Sands beach with fantastic views of the isles of Rum, Eigg and Skye. Sit outside your tent at two o'clock in the morning (and still light) and watch the otters playing in the bay. This site is run by a dear lady called Cathy who always makes you feel welcome and walks round every morning to check you are OK and to collect fees from people who arrive over night ! It is such a fantastic place to be in the fine weather. Make sure you have good sturdy sand pegs though because when the wind comes in off the sea you either have a tent or a kite! We have experienced this but it has not put us of visiting again one day. Its so beautiful
