We have just returned from a stay of 4 nights at this site and are absolutely buzzing from the experience.
This is the first time that we have camped as a family (2 adults and 3 children aged 15, 12 & 8) and was being used as a test to see whether we would be likely to go again, which largely in no small part thanks to the staff and facilities at Romney Farm we will now be embarking on future camping holidays.
On arrival at the camp site we were escorted to our pitch, with a guide and explanation of the facilities and site rules. The staff were friendly throughout our stay and helped in anyway that they could. The shower and washing up areas were clean and well kept. The microwave and fridge freezers being available were a good touch also. The WiFi was also a very welcome touch for our two daughters.
We stayed in the tent only field which did not have electrical hookups, although these were also available in a separate field.
On our arrival the campsite was very busy, however it did not feel crowded. The fact that the pitches were all around then outside of the field helped as it meant the middle area was clear and free for the children to play all kinds of sport without being a hindrance.
The one negative is that you can hear the main road throughout the night which can be a hindrance but after a while the noise is blocked out.
We will definitely be staying at this sight again in the future!

What a fabulous find. We used this site only for two nights really to practice our first tent. The site was very accommodating and all the staff are very friendly, approachable and helpful. They also are included in the rating.
The site is a great size both hook up and non pitches. Clean fresh toilets and very warm even hot showers. The washing up area is excellent.
Freezer and microwave available. An on site cafe us available although we never used it. I did at one point have the incidental music from Carry on Camping ringing in my ears as I viewed the site walking back to my tent. Its really quaint. The site was busy but certainly not crushed ir noisy. We took our dog who had a ball, there were no issues him not being in a lead, though he us very well behaved.
This site is a real find and with all the local sites around brilliant to use as a base.
Definitely be using thus site again, even for a quick getaway or long weekend. It is a MUST. Very well done team.

Lovely little site and we thought good value for money. Large non-electric field with pitches only around the edge so absolutely loads of space in the middle.
Didn't feel like you were too close to any fellow campers. Smallish but clean facilities, no frills, but no complaints.
Café on site, nice idea, just don't go in expecting a latte!

We are a family of 4 and have just returned from a last minute few days at this site. It is our 6th time and as before the owners and staff have not failed to impress.
The toilets, showers, washing up and fridge/freezer areas are kept impeccably clean! The grass is cut short making it ideal for tents.
If you are looking for a quiet relaxing site without a club house and big open field for children to play safely this is a perfect site. It is great for kite flying as both the serviced and non serviced areas have a great cross wind.
We were absolutely thrilled to see the on site cafe back open and run by a lovely lady called Sam. Our daughter asked her for chicken nuggets and although she doesn't have them on the menu she said she would make them for her. Our 5yr old was thrilled and ate every bit.
We have nothing but praise for the site and WILL be going again for another visit very soon.

What a fabulous site!
Absolutely loved it.
The facilities were nice and clean, the grass is beautiful, The whole site was well maintained - the owner takes real pride in it.
Particularly nice touch are the picnic tables in the non-electric field. You can just take them and move them near your tent - fantastic idea.
This site has a 'posh' look to it and yet it feels really relaxed and laid back. They allow campfires in raised pits - and they even let you borrow some at no cost.
The site is well situated too, only a 15 drive to nice beaches. (albeit close to a relatively well-traveled road, but you hardly notice it)
All in all, a real gem.

Have just spent an excellent weekend at Romney Farm campsite. From my initial email enquiry to check availability through to leaving was dealt with in a professional & friendly way by the staff at the site.
The site is barrier controlled with plenty of parking to check in. There is a small cafe on site which is open 7 days a week, can't comment on this as we didn't use it.
There are 2 fields for camping, one with ehu and one without. All the pitches are around the outside leaving plenty of space for our kids to play in without being a nuisance to anyone else. Apparently, communal games with children and adults all joining in isn't uncommon if busy.
The grass is cut very short with hedging around the entire boundary it makes for a pretty site.
The toilet block was always clean as was the washing up area. There is a small shed with a large fridge/freezer and microwave for tenters.
Bbq's and fire pits are allowed, bricks are available for you to use so you don't burn the grass. Logs and coal can be bought from reception as can ice creams.
Good sandy beaches can be found at Dymchurch and Camber Sands, both a short drive or a wild pebble beach at Dungeness.
If I wanted to be really picky you are quite close to a road and traffic noise can be heard but isn't a major issue.
As this site is only 35miles from our house it makes for a great quick weekend retreat and one which we will definitely return to.

We have just returned from two days staying at Romney Farm. We can thoroughly recommend it and would definitely go again if we were in the area. From booking on the phone right through to leaving, the service was excellent and very friendly. We had a lovely welcome from the owner on arrival.
There are separate fields for camping and for caravans and motorhomes. Both are large, flat and open with well cut grass. The sites for motorhomes/caravans are round the edge of the field and are large, marked by simple wooden pole fences. The field is surrounded by pruned poplar trees and hedges. Considering it is one of the flattest areas of England, the views over the surrounding fields to distant trees were lovely.
The toilet/shower rooms were of a high standard and spotlessly clean. We used the free microwave situated in a small wooden 'garden house' - a very nice extra. There are good washing up facilities although we didn't use them.
There was so much local information and free leaflets etc in Reception.

An excellent welcome awaits at this site. The site is level, we didn't need chocks. When we stayed it was very quiet which meant no queues for showers or toilets however there are only five toilets and four showers in total for what is a large site. For this reason my family wouldn't return if we thought it was going to be busy. The bathrooms were very clean but the showers spray out horizontally and are the push button type which can be annoying - word of advice - leave nothing on the floor when showering. There are only two sinks in the ladies and no hooks or shelves which makes it awkward.
This sounds like a negative review but it is a well kept, well located site, the cafe on site is good if you fancy a fry up!
The advertised free Wi-Fi doesn't work in the caravan or tent field, only in reception or cafe, so be aware of that!
For all the reasons above I think it's slightly overpriced.

This our second stay at this campsite the last time about four years ago, not a lot has changed apart from three wooden sheds have been erected in the EH area, but the tenting field has been changed the most, the pond/lake has been filled in and levelled, the field has been grassed, a bank has been built on one side. It makes a lovely large flat area. A big improvement.
The toilet/shower block is the same and still very clean with free showers. Overall a nice site, if your tenting and need a nice breakfast a cafe is on site, we never used this though.
We thought the campsite fees were expensive for the low season.
The site has two busy roads nearby and at times can be a little noisy, but didn't bother us to much.
New Romney is a small town but has all the shops we needed a large Spar and Sainsburys, we had some lovely fish and chips from the chippy in the high street also the best Chinese take away we have tasted for a long time, the prices are reasonable too.
Hastings, Rye, Hythe, Folkstone and Ashford are not that far away if you need a larger shopping area.
Don't forget to have a ride on the R H & D R steam railway. GREAT even for us older kids!
Yes we would stay here again, lets hope its not another four years.

Our first family camping experience and we were very pleased with our choice of campsite.
Friendly staff, large pitches, very clean, hot showers, clean toilets, washing up facilities.
The site is very flat (it can be windy, but that's new romney for you. Although the site is tree lined to help provide some shelter).
The pitches are laid out around the edges of two large fields, (20 electric hookup/50 non) giving large areas free for playing in the middle (as other posts have mentioned. Bring bat and ball, kite, rounders bats, etc).
Logs and BBQ coals available from reception (£5). As are ice creams. And firepits are allowed which added to the whole experience.
Also provided is a small hut containing fridge, freezer (for ice packs), electric points and a microwave (cheating I know, but good as a back up).
Ideally situated for Cinque Ports, local beaches (camber / greatstone) and other small attractions (RSPB, miniature trains, lighthouse, golf, walks, pubs, etc).
