Loved this site. Very friendly staff. Three areas to choose from. We stayed in adult only area around the lake that allows dogs. We did not have a dog but chose this area as we had just lost our dog of 17. Found it very quiet with no sighting of the drunken oafs another reviewer mentioned. First class toilet blocks, very clean and welcoming. Papers and freshly baked items can be ordered before six o clock the night before. Not the best tv reception but not a problem. Close to Salisbury which is lovely and other smaller villages/towns. Would visit again!

Decided on a spur of the moment trip, struggled to find somewhere at this time of year in the area near Southampton suitable for our needs (travelling with two dogs, so wanted good walking area). Phoned a couple of Caravan Club CL sites and very disappointed until we phoned Green Hill, what a lovely, accommodating warm reception, booked for 2 nights (2 & 3 Jan '15) - arrived later than anticipated (4. 30pm ish) again lovely warm welcome on arrival, allocated a pitch but told we could set up on any of the adjacent ones, which we chose to do (they had been full over Christmas and New Year). Shower / toilet blocks, clean and warm, small site shop seemed to have most things (grateful they had milk!). Dog walking really good for us, woodland walk on site on lead but access to New Forest common which was lovely. Very wet during our stay but that was fine as geared up for it. Will be back (taking fishing rods!) as such a lovely welcome.

We have come to this site reguarly during the October half term, to enjoy the great fishing, even my 11yr old daughter loves going up to the lake and having a go, we have such a good time we thought we would try Christmas in the caravan, couldn't fault it, the staff were outstanding, the facilities were warm, welcoming and clean. We booked to go back this year.

First visit to this site, and we stayed in the adults only section with a lakeside hard-standing pitch but as we hardly ever review sites we felt that the following observations needed to be said.
1st. Good points:
Friendly staff
Nice area
Well laid out site
Good dog walks
Good location for direct access to the New Forest
No road noise
2nd. Not so good points:
Not that quiet on weekends
Loud fishermen
Drunken oafs unaware or not caring that sound travels over water
Showers too high to be effective
Mud on gents shower floor, obviously people either too stupid or too lazy to use mops provided.
So if you want a quiet peaceful site look elsewhere, if you want to hear the ins and outs of drunken fishermen. This is right up your street.

First time at this site and quite impressed, one of our family booked a hardstanding in the family area and later I tried to book for my daughter and her family and for my wife and i. We finished up in three separate locations, family field, Adults only and camping field. Not their fault but they did try to get us all together.
Nice site but despite awards for the toilets the soap containers in the ladies emptied on the first day (of 6) and were not refilled.
In the gents the floors were always filthy with dirt/mud from peoples shoes, a mop was provided but no-one seemed to use it however for the time of year I think someone could have been on hand to give it a mop over now and again. Incidentally we didn't experience the same issues in the adult only area so it was probably the youngsters leaving the mess but I would say that.
The grandchildren enjoyed the big open spaces to fly kites and the swings etc were in good condition. Most of the children we saw were very impressed with the zip wire, it was constantly on the go.
Nice pubs down the road aways, but no, it isn't really in walking distance.
It was quiet however I don't know what they would have done if someone was being a nuisance.
All in all I would stay there again and would be happy to suggest it to others.

Good points -
Nice site good idea to divide areas to family, adults with dogs and adults without dogs, we are not anti children but we have 2 very excitable dogs who would be bouncing all day with children running around.
The toilet/shower block in the adult with dogs area were excellent and very clean.
There are hard standing and grass pitches available we were there on the 2 hottest and driest weeks of the year so far so we were very glad of the grass pitch.
Friendly staff
Not so good points -
Very overpriced
The areas surrounding all of the 3 lakes were covered in Canada goose faeces, we had to change our booking shortly before our holiday we were initially booked lakeside but lost that pitch - so glad we did!
The site is quite isolated the nearest pub is 1 mile away, the nearest shop is over a mile. No village within walking distance.
We were charged more than the price quoted on the sites own website, we even brought a print out but we were told the price they were asking for was correct. How can you argue when it's 29 degrees you have 2 dogs in the car and you have just arrived after a 5 hour journey and nowhere else to go?

We have just returned from our 3rd visit to Greenhill Farm Campsite. We love it here!
First time was August 2013 in our 8mx5m tent on elec hookup. Ground was a tad hard in places despite it being grass. Even the rock pegs in places couldn't go in very far but it all worked out fine.
2nd and 3rd times were in our Pennine Sterling FC. One in the family elec hookup again and the other just for the wife and myself in the Adult section. That was perfect. We walked around the site previously picking out exactly where we wanted to be. Booking 3 months in advance meant we could do that. Pitched right next to the lake (although we are not the fishing type), it was just beautiful waking up and having breakfast in the sun beside the lake.
The kids playground is very well maintained and all the times we were there it was clean too. The clubhouse is basic but welcoming. They have different activities on different nights like games, quiz night and I think karaoke. (based upon seeing equipment but not actually hearing fellow campers tuneful voices!)
They won an award for the 'best loo' and its well deserved too, as the shower blocks are very new, very clean and well equipped. The family bathroom is well worth the money especially if you have younger children. A shower, a split level bath and 2 toilets means money well spent. Piped through all the blocks in local radio Wave105 so if you have to nip out the middle of the night, its not deathly quiet in there!
Speed by vehicles is kept to 1st gear only thereby keeping the roads safe for kids to walk and ride bikes on. The tarmac is ultra smooth so its great to learn to ride for the younger ones!
The fishing (I'm told) is good here but since we don't fish, I cant really say other that what I've heard.
Dogs welcome. We have a springer, been on 2 of the 3 times and never had problems.
Nice walk out around the site and the far lakes, you can also walk onto the new forest plains from the rear of the site.
They have a couple of rally fields and Golden Meadow, the normal camping field is sloping in places. Some of this area also has elec hookup. I don't recall specific pitch lines here so you can pitch your tents more sociably especially if you go with several families to have a central seating/eating area. The adult section and the lower hard standing pitches are more strictly laid out with lines.
There are plenty of waste/grey waste areas to dispose of your rubbish and water, plus ample outlets of drinking water.
Site location? Depending on what you are looking for really. If you just want to stick around for a few days to chill out then its not an issue. Its situated on the north side of the A31 just off the A36. Most of what you see in the tourist info about the forest tends to be on the south side of the A31 so you will need to drive a bit to get to those areas. If its just a base for touring, then its well connected by being 15mins drive or so from the M27. But it is very peaceful there and although its a really big site, where its broken up by trees, buildings, fences etc it just doesn't seem like you are all on top of each other.
As its open all year round, there are quite a number of caravans using the seasonal pitch option.
Staff wise, very friendly and knowledgeable.
Overall I would recommend this whole heartedly.
I have given this a pretty high rating as over 3 visits we have seen it improve every time.

We stayed for two nights whilst on the way to the isle of white, we found the shop to be very expensive and limited, the site was very clean and the staff were very nice, great area, the fishing was very good although the staff didn't seem very clued up on fishing with no rules issued, so to sum up a nice site but in my opinion very expensive with the fishing it worked out to be 32. 50 a night with no entertainment or bar (they opened the next week). Would I stay again personally only for a night if I was desperate.

Just had a 2 night break at this site and can say that WE will visit again. If you want peace and quiet down by the lakes this is for you. If you are a family with children the site has great area's for families to camp and the children to unwind. Plenty of walks close by and a nice walk on site right around the camp. Dogs are even welcome too !
What is not to like ?? We had a huge pitch more than amble for our tent and car right by the lakeside in the adults only section. Great idea but adults snore and we found ourselves located between 2 walruses ! Take ear plugs next time !
The facilities were more than adequate and plenty of hot water in a really warm and clean toilet/shower unit. Did not use the on-site bar area but what we saw looked really good and was being well used by other punters on the site.
Overall highly recommended and ideal for Salisbury, Stone-Henge, The New Forest, Southampton and Portsmouth.

Just back from a 2 night stay. First impressions were not good. Waited nearly half an hour to get our pitch sorted out, as someone was still on ours. When we eventually got one sorted, we had a tent pitched right at the back of our motorhome. It was just a mish mash of tents, motorhomes and caravans with very little space between. This is a site which allows dogs, which is normally not a problem for us but this site was more like a kennel yard with dogs barking and running loose. We went to get a take away which this site offers and the food was pretty awful. Sorry but wont be returning to this site
