Just returned from a weeks holiday at this site and it was a perfect spot. We had a lovely sunny pitch (when the sun was out!) which was fully serviced. It was quiet, and the facilities were clean and warm. I did like the fact the loos were separate from the showers!. There are a few walks from the site which you can purchase for a small fee, we only did a couple but it was good to get a few walks directly from the site. The pub is a short stroll away and we had an excellent meal there. There are local shops and a co-op just a couple of miles away.
Further afield, you are about 20 mins from exmoor, an hour from lynmouth and all the beautiful areas around there. It's a good base to explore north Devon and Somerset from.

This is a pretty, quiet and peaceful adult only site, nestling in the valley of the River Tone in the Brendon Hills. Easy to find on the road between Bampton and Wiveliscombe. We stayed just the one night (but will be back) and arrived to find the site around half full after the weekend. Quite a lot of seasonal vans in storage and out on pitches. The wardens were friendly and efficient. The showers/toilets/info/washing facilities are all contained within a barn building. Everything was absolutely spotless. The water in the showers was piping hot. Reception doubles as a tiny shop and the printed price list we were given was a nice touch.
Our pitch (hardstanding) was a good size and we were able to enjoy the sun all day. TV reception is limited on site, though we managed to pick up a few channels using our van's ariel. Unlike the nearby Exe Valley site, TV cables are not available free of charge though were in the shop to buy.
Pitches are fairly well screened from each other. There is a pretty walk down to a stretch of the river which was bone dry in the recent spell of drought but obviously becomes muddy in the wet weather. Dogs can be walked here and there is a smallish enclosure which they can also use.
The local area is extremely pretty and on this occasion we visited Wiveliscombe which has some nice little shops, and Wimbleball Lake. There is a pub just a couple of hundred yards from the site but we didn't visit it.
I didn't see any local walks advertised in the site's info centre, though I'm sure the wardens would have helped. I did find a tough but rewarding uphill walk next to the pub which was worth it, both for the dappled sunlight though an avenue of trees, and the view from the top.
All in all, a lovely site, which would suit those who want a quiet stay in a beautiful tree-lined valley.

3rd visit to this site. This site has got better since our last visit, improvements to the toilet/shower facilities have been carried out making them even better than they were. A small selection of food and spares can now be found in reception. A short walk takes you to a local pub (The Rock Inn)which serves good food and a good pint. NOT open at certain times so look on their website or check with them once you are there. If you are wanting to explore this area you can't go wrong using this site easy driving distance to exmoor national park. A short drive takes you into Wiviliscome for shops etc, and a 20min drive into Taunton.

We received a warm welcome on arrival and had been allocated a good pitch which was wide enough for our unit and table and chairs on the hard-standing. The site was moderately busy during our 5-night stay with several arrivals and departures as well as some seasonal 'vans. There was no disturbance at all from the road running past the site.
We tend to use Dornafield and Ross Park in Devon as a 10/10 standard for others to aim at. Whilst the care of the landscaping at Waterrow is very good it's not quite up to their standard.
Similarly the toilet, washing and showering facilities are good and very clean but lack adequate seating, dry areas and sufficient hooks for clothes, towels, toiletries etc. Which are at our 'gold standard sites.
Other than the booklet mentioned below we didn't need anything from reception, which had very limited opening hours. They sell ice-cream but were not open when we felt like some one afternoon.
For dogs the fenced-in exercise area is very limited, at a guess about 25 by 10 metres at most. The ground is very uneven and the grass rough so it was difficult to locate and pick up No. 2s.
For people the Woodland Walk is short but interesting and well set out, with mainly bark chippings underfoot.
An excellent booklet giving details of walks of varying length from the site is available from reception. The site is in easy reach of a wide range of places of interest, from coast to moor, towns to hamlets. Wiveliscombe is amazing for a village with only 3000 souls - 2 breweries, excellent butcher, service station, post office, supermarket, delicatessen, etc.
We tried The Rock Inn near the campsite and found it very poor value. There are good reasonably-priced eateries in Wiveliscombe offering better quality.
Would we stay again? Certainly, but maybe for our dog's sake for a shorter time.

We have just returned from 2 days at Waterrow - what a gem of a site! A lovely area for touring, very tranquilly placed but not far from useful amenities.
Very warm welcome, excellent landscaping, lovely pitches well screened and some of them interestingly placed so you don't feel regimented. Exemplary, clean and well thought out facilities block (barn!) some more expensive sites should take a look at this, it really is 5* Their own spring water as well!
Very good value for money, this was our first visit and hopefully won't be the last.

What a lovely outstanding tranquil site, so well kept grounds and each pitch is nice and level with bushes between pitches for privacy. We spent 4 nights there and every time we used the showers/toilets, they were absolutely spotlessly clean.
The owner are very dog friendly to which they are well catered for including an area to wash off muddy dogs.
Thankyou for a lovely stay and we'll definitely be back :)

We have just returned from a nine day visit to this lovely site.
On our arrival we were met by Paul who showed us to our pitch and was very helpful and informative
Although the weather wasn't the best, we were still able to find plenty of things in the surrounding area to keep us and the dog occupied.
The whole site was immaculate, just enough privacy and plenty of room for our twin axle caravan, awning and four wheel drive. Although we didn't use the showers or toilets, they were just as immaculate as everywhere else. Very good washing machines machines and dryers as well as a coffee machine to use while waiting for laundry to finish
If there is one small gripe, it is the fact that thee is some traffic noise although you tend not to notice after a while. At night there is virtually no traffic to disturb your sleep.
Jamie and Lynette obviously work very hard to keep this site so pristine and nothing is too much trouble. We will definitely return

An update.
This is our second visit to this site, our 1st was 2 years ago in same month. Jamie & Lynette had just taken over this site on our 1st visit, they have made a few changes which has made this an even better site (in our opinion).
The shower/wc block is kept very clean and tidy the water was always hot. Due to health problems I now have to make use of the disabled facilities (I'm not disabled), they to are kept spotless.
Some pitches have been upgraded to fully serviced pitches, all pitches are hard standing and level. The site has just enough trees and hedges to allow some privacy between the pitches.
There is a short river walk and an enclosed area for dogs to have a good run.
There is a pub in walking distance (and not to far to stagger back). Wiveliscombe is a short drive away and has a good selection of shops and a brewery.
One of the nicest sites we have been to, you get a very warm welcome on arrival, well done Jamie & Lynette.
We would use this site more if we were not on the other side of the country but will always return when we are in the area.

We have just spent two days at Waterrow, the first outing with our new van, courtesy of the dealership. It is a perfect spot. The pitches are well laid out, with gravel hard standing, and hedges for privacy. Some are very large, but our smaller pitch had plenty of room for van, awning and car. Each pitch has ehc and tv point.
The facilities were very good. Everything is in a large barn, including washing-up and washing machines. The showers and toilets are spotless. My only criticism would be the non-controllable push button showers. This is a personal dislike, but as this is an adults only site I would think that they could trust the clientele to use the showers responsibly!
The wardens were most welcoming and helpful. The area is beautiful, with lovely walks by the river. It is very quiet, so you can hear the dawn chorus! A lovely site for a quiet break.
