Only stayed for one night in a 2 man tent, £10 fee. Site was well maintained, grass cut, easy to erect tent. Toilets and showers a bit outdated but clean, my only gripe would be that in the toilet area you have to put 20p in a meter to get hot water to wash your hands in the sink! and after paying £10, Showers cost 50p too, its been a long time since I've been to a campsite where this applies, usually these facilities are included in the site fee. Would I go again, yes, John who runs it is a cheerful chappy, with a sense of humour. It's close to Penkridge for pubs, shops etc. I only live in Stafford but on this site you feel like you're a million miles away from it all.

Nicely cut grass. Toilets and showers need good clean. It says 10 pitches but there is about that many permanent caravans on there already. There is lots of hook ups spread around as well. Ok site but needs someone who knows how to run one. Would I go there again. NO.

A delightfully simple campsite and an absolute bargain at £5 per night. The camping field is large, flat and well-drained and although you can see the traffic on the motorway in the distance, there is remarkably little noise from it. The early and late trains can be heard a little more, but were not a problem. The shower and wash block is in a couple of converted building-site-style porta-cabins but are perfectly adequate if your needs are simple. For 50p in the meter, I thought the showers were good value for money, were nice and warm and ran for far longer than I needed for a decent shower. The guys who run the site are incredibly friendly and laid back. When I phoned to check availability, the chap didn’t even want my name, just saying that there was plenty of room and to just turn up. On arrival, I was met by another chap who pointed me in the general direction of where he’d like me to pitch my tent and then left me to set up before he came over to take payment. He was also very helpful in giving directions into Penkridge on the ‘back road’ which avoided a busy junction. I had two reasons for choosing this site – I had a meeting in Birmingham and I also wanted to continue my journey further north the following day. This site fulfilled both needs perfectly. It is just minutes off the M6 and also has easy access to the trains from Penkridge station, where you can get into Birmingham for a reasonable price. If the station car park is full, there is a large, free overflow car park behind the Monkton Recreation Centre, off Pinfold lane. There’s a nice pub not far away in Whiston (The Swan) where you can get very decent food but may need to book at busy times.
For this price, what’s not to like? Highly recommended for short stays or whilst en-route to somewhere else.

Ideal for an overnight stop when travelling north or south. Easy and quick to find from the M6
Predominantly a fishing site and several pitches that look to be long term seasonal
Loads of space to pitch your van.
Toilets were adequate, always use van shower so cannot comment on those facilities.
Bob was very efficient in telling us where to pitch and had useful local knowledge to share.
Petrol station nearby in village of Penkridge along with a decent supermarket and a couple of chip shops.

I came across this site when looking for a stopover on route to Scotland. Called the number quite late in the evening and it was answered politely by John. Very pleasant and helpful. Our potential late arrival of 10:00pm was not an issue and John was helpfully with directions, some satnavs will only get you near.
We arrived at about 8:30PM, site is really easy access. We were greeted on arrival, offered electric hookup or not and the gentleman let us settle down before he came for payment.
Electric points, water, waste disposal were all easy to use. Toilet block was clean and functional. We are used to kart racing circuits so 'clean and functional' is fine for us, difficult for us to rate as compared with some kart circuits the facilities here are 10/10
Hot water and shower were coin op, we didn't use as we have those facilities in the van.
The site was a nice location, looked like a nice fishing lake. It was a pleasant location, no fuss to book or pitch up, we will use it again as a stopover it is ideal. We would even consider a long stop over as my lad would quite like to fish the lake

We went to this site the week before to have a look around and thought what a nice little site, so we went the week after to stop for a few days.
All was ok until later in the evening when the caravan park started filling up and the lady that runs the park told some one with a caravan to go in between us and the next van, that is when I had to remind her of the 20 foot rule between vans and then to top it all they then put a car in as well which left about three foot from us to me this is a fire hazard waiting to happen.
This could be a great little site with the right people running it.
Would I go again (NO)

I thought this was alright.
Though having camped many times, this was my first time in a touring caravan. The staff couldn't have been more helpful, and the site - though simple - was both cheap, and attractive. It's isolated, but with Penkridge nearby that has all amenities.
The site were very helpful in finding a solution to my specific requirements with regards to arrival and departure times, and its proximity to the motorway made it ideal as a stopping off point.
Toilet block was fine. Perhaps a little basic, and I couldn't get any hot water - I think this needed you to put 20p in the meter, which was the only thing I wasn't thrilled about, and the shower was the same - 50p. I don't know - paying for showers seems a bit 1995 to me, but I haven't been on many touring sites and perhaps this is normal?
I was after somewhere cheap and convenient, and it met this requirement with bells on. The fact that is was attractive as well was an unexpected bonus.
