After reading the reviews on this site I thought I would give it a go. Being local to me and easy access off junction 13 M6 I booked with paul who is the part owner of the site, lovely chatty bloke and was told I would be met by kevin who, as you drive into the field is stopping in the first caravan on the right. Another top guy such a laugh and helped me pitch my van.
The site is small I would say max 25 units with some non electric pitches as well
toilets are dated but cleaned daily by kevins partner, one draw back is only one shower for the men which is an old container and is unisex.
The womens facilities are better but still have to pay 50p per shower and campers 20p for hot water.
The waste disposal has to be said very back to basics, a sess pit with a trap door, everything goes in there.
The fishing pool is small but well stocked for a days fishing £4 which is good value.
I had a lovely long weekend here, no pubs and no shops about, but close enough to penkridge market town, 10 mins max drive. great market on a Saturday where you will find shops, pubs, takeaways and petrol stations.
Or if you want to venture out, jun 12 M6 is a great car boot on the Sunday.
All in all with the ducks under my caravan in the morning and the 2 lovely sheep dogs running around I had a pleasant stay and will be going back soon!

Although we never arrived till after 10pm on Saturday night, after picking up our new camper, John could not have been more helpful and obliging on the phone when we called him to tell him we were going to be so late. Although John was not going to be there himself, he assured us that Kevin would take care of us on our arrival, which he did, with a pleasant smile and a very warm welcome. We spent a very comfortable evening that night and in the morning, we had the pleasure of watching some anglers fishing and catching Carp from the nearby fishing lake, before we made use of the more than adequate toilet/shower block before setting off.
Many thanks again John and Kevin (up the Wolves eh Kevin)! We will certainly recommend your site and hope to be back soon.

Visited dunston heath for the first of our camping trips there this year, a lot of work has gone on at the site, new toilet and shower block to go along with the old ones, all done very well, lots of work going on when we there reseeding etc after the new work, extra electric, extra water taps have all been added this year,
Most definitely a value for money place, always friendly, always helpful, and so easy to find off the m6.
Took no kids this time 'bliss' but no doubt there still going to love it in June when it will be a bit warmer.
Fishing pool is being extended as we speak, a lovely relaxing pool, hubby caught lots of fish over the weekend some good sized one too, love this place

Well what can I say?. Cheap cheerful and such a cherished site. All the regulars make you feel welcome and that includes the farmer/owner. The site is well maintained and secluded near the busy market town of Penkridge. It has a decent sized fishing lake (£4 per day ticket)stocked with decent size fish of all species. The site has a small farm shop where FRESH veg/eggs can be bought. The only down side to the site is the toilet facilities(lack of) but I understand its all changing for 2012. If I cant find my mother then I know where to get hold of her. Dunston Heath Farm!
Would definitely recommend this site to all.
Campers this is where to stay for that weekend away but would say ring to book don't just turn up as weekends can get busy. Midweek breaks are not usually a problem.

Spent a couple of nights at this site, on arrival was a little confused as to who/where we had to go as little/no signage as to who to see etc. Once we found a space introduced ourselves to the staff and a swift chat with other temporary residents, then set about setting up our tent for the first time after purchase only to find one of the brackets snapped clean in 2, after speaking to the resident who seemed to have an Aladdin's cave for a tent, naming no names, (you know who you are George), we made a temporary fix, and proceeded to enjoy our stay at this very peaceful, friendly site, well laid out, toilet and shower block good, 20p for hot water 50 p for showers, shaver socket etc. Nice fishing pool although never got chance to dip a rod but looked good. Site is on a slight slope down the field, but wasn't a problem as the rain drained away from the tent nicely. Would happily recommend this site to anyone looking for 1 night or a fortnight. Plenty of space for the kids to play, check out the animals and generally have fun. Will be staying there regularly. Many Thx to all there, Oh and George I promise to bring my own gaffer tape next time! watch me need a screwdriver instead lol.

On the plus side its a fairly cheap site per night but the savings get quickly eaten up putting money in to obtain showers and hot water.
There was a friendly/relaxed welcome and other users were friendly too. We took the kids to see the cows in the barns but later found out this was against the rules. S
My moans
Not enough toilets, though they were clean Only one shower No hot water for hand washing, or towels/hand dryer Paying for hot water.
But the biggest moan was the horrible droning noise of the milk vat machine at around 8am every morning, going on for some time.
I do like to support small campsite owners but on this occasion I have to be honest and say that I will not be returning.

Stayed at the sight for 8 nights, had booked on the strength of the description of the site (states only 10 pitches) and some other reviews left so expected a very quiet, secluded site with minimal facilities. Directions provided were excellent and the site was found easily, easy access from the motorway, noise from motorway or rail line was not an issue at all. Bit of a shock on arrival, had expected a small, peaceful site but field was very full, much more than 10 pitches/outfits - probably nearer 25/30 so very, very busy
John who welcomed us was very, very friendly and welcoming and is helpful at all times. Toilet/shower block was at best adequate, was only two toilets and one of those was in the shower room so if someone was using the shower that one wasn't available. 1 or 2 toilets for 25/30 pitches isnt ideal to say the least and the toilet block could do with a good clean - some of the dirt ingrained, however understand that a new toilet block is to be built in September which should resolve this problem. Pitch areas are not clearly defined and outfits were sited very close together. The number of tents/vans did drop midweek but numbers raised even more leading up to the bank holiday weekend.
Fishing lake was lovely and husband said very well stocked. Highlight of the day on the site is the arrival of the ice cream van which is extremely reasonable and very generous portions. Site well situated for access to Stafford and would definitely recommend a trip to Cannock Chase if you like walking, Shrewsbury isnt too far away and is lovely.

Stayed here for one night on our journey from Dover to Holyhead. Excellent directions, convenient to M6 without motorway noise.
Very welcoming.
John showed us all the facilities on arrival and was very helpful when we set up on our pitch. Facilities good and kept clean.
20p for hot water in sink for cleaning dishes. 50p for a shower.
Peaceful, friendly site. Pitches without electricity a bit larger than those with electric.
New shower block due to be built in September.
Lovely lake, peaceful rural site. Would certainly visit again.

We have just returned after a week at this site and we have already booked to go back again in August. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. The site was clean and tidy.
In a nice quiet location very peaceful restful holiday. Being close to the motorway it is ideal to access local attractions such as Alton Towers, waterworld and definitely recommend Stoke Ski slope.
The Fishing was good and the lake full of good sized carp. Although there is only one shower it was always clean and I never had to queue.
