Stayed here for just one night as we had travelled up to pick up trailer tent. On arrival at site (very good directions) we were welcomed by very kind lady who helped us put up the tent.

The site was beautiful, with the fishing lake and wonderful views. Seems that there is not much within easy walking distance (not even a pub) but that does not detract from its appeal.

Not crowded and sheltered pitches, which was just as well as the wind was howling and the rain gave our newly acquired tent a thorough testing.

The toilet/shower block was very basic but clean. Will definitely be going back as our 8 year old grandson loved every minute of it and is looking forward to staying longer.

Had a fab break here with the hubby and 2 kids. Was only meant to be a 3 night break but ended up staying an extra 2 nights has we had such a great time here.

There isnt that much to do, especially for the kids who can get a bit bored, but then again we did come away for the peace and quiet, which we certainly got. Ideally there would be more for the kids, but at the price we paid for our stay we really cant complain.

We met some lovely people whilst there and are returning again this may.

My only main criticism is the fact that it only has one shower in the toilet block which is unisex. We were having to get up early so we could have a shower in peace. We never actually had anyone banging on doors but you always felt the need to have to hurry. The toilets themselves were always spotlessly clean.

Over all we had a fantastic break and have to say a big thank you to everyone involved in running the farm and for making our stay a pleasant one!

Stayed here for 1 night - arrived to find the large field almost full due to the holidays and a nearby motorcycle rally. Families with tents, bikers with tents, couples in motorhomes, caravans, solo like me, the whole lot. But the atmosphere was nice because I think a lot of the people were regulars or meeting up, and (on the whole) everyone respected everyone else's space. Quite noisy until late though.

I arrived and couldn't work out who to pay but one of the regulars pointed me in the direction of the guy in charge and he was very helpful.

Limited EHU - none available by the time I booked. The toilet/paid shower block just about coped (I think there are other toilets) but was looking a bit grubby. The CDP and fresh water points were near the entrance.

The field was gently sloping and the storm shower in the evening didn't test out drainage. Mobile phone (O2) and 3G ('3') reception was good.

Pretty easy to find and close to the M6, though in my case I needed to get to the A518/A41 the next day and decided to use the back lanes which turned out to be a bit more scenic than I planned!

My partner and I visited this site and instantly fell in love with Dunston Heath Farm so much so we have ditched the tent purchased a caravan and plan to spend every weekend possible there.Kevin and his wife Lynn who look after the site instantly took us to there hearts and I feel already we have made great friends, John the farmer is lovely and welcoming and so friendly too. My only criticism would be that there are not enough toilet, shower facilities to go around if it is busy but the cleanliness of the toilets did compensate.

All in all it is fantastic value for money at £8 a night camping and £12 electric pitch just remember to have plenty of 20ps and 50ps too wash up and shower 50p gives you ample time for which is a lovely hot shower. This is an absolute gem of a place and very unique in its layout but it all adds to its charm.

Just spent 4 nights here site close to M6 takes 3 mins but don't follow sat nav it's first right off J13 M6 towards Penkridge first right again and after 300 yards first right again site. EHC can be far away shop basic just veg and eggs. Charged for awning £2 a night plus £12 for pitch. Toilets OK sometimes needed a clean, there were 3 and 1 shower which cost 50p, and hot water to wash pots and pans 20p. No hot water to your wash hands after going toilet. Nearest shops, places to eat and pubs are Penkridge which is about 5 mins drive away

Just back from a weekend at this site, from the time of booking, arrival, pitching and our stay nothing was too much trouble for George and his helper's, what a wonderful relaxing site, very friendly dogs too, great fishing pool and very clean, everyone was very friendly, you can buy new laid eggs and veg on the site, trains run not far away but you don't notice them, we did not hear many farm noises, only the birds, would most certainly stay again.

Situated about 3/4 of a mile from junction 13 of the M6 you would think road noise would be a problem here - not so, the loudest noises are the buzzards (who nest in a tree in the camping field) being mobbed by crows. There is a mainline railway nearby but this also is not a problem.

There is one shower and three toilets on site. Plus a fresh water supply and an Elsan disposal point. Electric points are scattered around the top half of the field.

Fresh eggs and vegetables can be bought from the farm shop and you can have a look at the calves in the pens opposite while you are there. There are 2 dogs around the farm but they are very friendly and like a game of football when theyre not working. The farm cats it must be said are not as friendly and if you have small children it might be best to keep them away from them. While at the farm we also saw ducks, rabbits, owls, bats and a multitude of birdlife.

The farmers, hands and George the weekend warden are all very friendly and willing to help with any problem that arises.

There is a fishing pond on site for the anglers, with some large carp, crusians, tench and perch with some silver fish as well.

A nice place to stay for £12/night with electric. No charge for dogs or awnings. Would we go back ? yes !

Stayed 2 nights in my motorhome. Very friendly welcome and information freely given on the site, surrounding area and wildlife.

Beware though the Tom Tom took us to the wrong place! Nice lake and very popular with the fishermen. The dogs are great - really playful.

Only one shower and its 50p for hot water but it was clean and adequate. There are 3 toilets on the site with a new block planned.

Good touring site - close to M6 and easy to find if you ignore the sat nav! Would stay again for sure.

Camped here on many occasions in 2010. Lovely site, clean and quiet, fantastic fishing so my husband says, love the dogs so friendly, all facilities are spotless, and has to be one of the easiest places to get to off the m6.

Loved sitting under my gazebo in the evening, with a glass of wine waiting for a train to pass in the distance, just like the coca cola Christmas lorry,

I will most def be staying again this year

If you want all the bells and whistles of some sites, then don't stop here, however, if you want a great friendly welcome to a site that all the campers and caravanners love, then look no further!

I cannot emphasize enough how friendly and warm this site is, we had booked one night for a stopover on our way to Scotland, but had car problems and they helped us to sort it all out, finding a volvo garage and even offered to come and collect us if it had to stay in the garage.

Barbara is a regular little dynamo, cleans the toilets and everything at least four times a day, there are two toilets, (one is in the shower room) and two sinks in the 'shed', don't be put off by the outside, it is a wooden building after all, and also another toilet in the main building of the farm, they are kept immaculate by the aforementioned 'busybee'.

We gave up on scotland in the end and returned to Devon, but we will definitely not stopover anywhere else when going again. You won't see a lot of the owners, as being a working farm, they are busy from early till late, but again they are very warm and friendly when met. The lake/large pond is teeming with life, and reputedly holds carp to 27lb, perch to 4lb and all the normal fish to be found at a fishery. I was annoyed as I had my kayak and two sea rods, and would have loved to have wet a line. As for the directions, it is vital you ignore the navigator!, travelling northwards on the M6 leave at junction 13 and go left, then next right, right again and right again, couldn't be easier.

The sounds from the motorway are more like the sound of the sea in the distance and in no way impede on the sounds of the birds that abound on the site, never seen so many varieties in one spot.

So in conclusion, thanks to all and especially 'Saint Barbara', for our cup of tea as we climbed out of the recovery vehicle.
