Stayed here on way down from Scotland to the south. Very pleasant site, the location is ideal being just off the motorway. When we visited they were just finishing off a brand new ladies shower room which looked lovely. The 50p showers are well worth it, you get plenty of time, in fact, we never used all the time so you could maybe share, especially if you've got kids.
Good fishing, my youngest caught several good-sized carp after just a couple of hours which made his holiday!
Great value, would recommend and will DEFINITELY stay again.

After reading reviews it was better than expected. Arrived and got to pick area we wanted which was down the bottom out the way as we have 3 large dogs. Man let us get organized to collect money later that day. As I said we had a large area (so no strict pitch boundarys like some places) showers good value for money at 50p for a good 10 minutes. Womens is very spacious. Didn't look like they had been cleaned in the 5 nights we were there though. Needs cleaning daily really. Penkrige is close for shops and the market. We walked the dogs along the canal and watched the locks in action (my brother came over from norwich and had never seen it) nice to see basketball hoop as it makes a change from other more common sports. Was quite windy as we on an open field. Not good for our flags or windbreaks. Plenty of water taps in close proximity. 1 waste disposal by entrance so a longer walk past everyone else to get there. Pretty lake for fishing. Saw the pet rabbits and a litter of 4 kittens (cute) few apple trees to pick from and blackberries if your into foraging. Many bins but were all chocka full and overflowing, these need emptying more often or more bins here. Jip- the collie dog, took a liking to one of ours, he would often wander over to our camp and stay for many hours. 2 mornings he came over barking at us in the early hours waking me up. He also had a few snarls at the kids that stayed with us for 2 nights so unpredictable behaviour. Strict bout keeping dogs on leads and cleaning up after your dogs but different rules for the farm dogs. Tractors still working at 11pm driving up and down the road. Overall good value for money. Will defo be visiting again when our usual sites closed. My girlfriend was asked if she could carry someones elses rubbish that had been left to the bins (up the top of the field) we had paid to be there on holiday not help out. Perhaps employ someone part time to clean and do odd jobs

Used this site for an overnight stop on the way up to Southport. Friendly host and lovely site. Very rural and has some very nice fishing lakes. Seems popular and has entertainment on a Saturday. Facilities were OK and for £12 with hook up for 3 it was a bargain. Lovely site for watching the summer sun set and excellent for country walks in the surroundings. Would definitely go again

A pleasant little stop over campsite on out travels from Scotland to Devon. Ideally situated about a mile and a half from the motorway so not too far off the main road.
Location. - ideally locales for the motorway but around 2. 5-3 miles to the nearest shop so best to take supplies with you if you don't want to be driving back into the nearby town.
Facilities - ladies toilet was clean and warm, toilet paper and hand soap where provided however hot water is by coin meter - even for hand washing. Although only 20p for 6 minutes of hot water - was plenty of time for washing the dishes and giving the kids a once over before bed and in the morning. Showers were also coin operated but as we only stopped overnight we never used them. Asked hubby about the male toilets and he said they were 'fine' - take from that what you will.
The lady who runs the campsite was pleasant and helpful. Although there was a dog on site that just kind of wandered - it was rather vocal to us which if your not used to dogs could be quite off putting but it was friendly and really done no harm.
The site is on a working farm and has a large fishing lake right by it. From notices in the toilets we could see that the site has a 'clubhouse' on the weekend and we did notice that there was a few wooden outbuildings which I took to be this. The site was fairly full with caravans some of which looked like they had maybe been pitched for the season as never seen any activity from them (either that or very early bedders :)
There looked as though there were some walking routes nearby and on our journey into the site (and back out to the shops) I passed a fair few walkers.
We would definitely use this site again for a stop over and possibly for a couple of extra nights to have a look around the area.
Me, hubby, 3 young kids and a large tent without hook up for £9 total - can't really complain can you?

Well run, friendly, small, well kept site in beautiful country side. Toilets & showers adequate. Electrics good. Close to motorway & main roads. Good access to site. Good eatery within one mile. Main shops in 3 miles (walkable). Superb garden centre within 5 miles. Many small interesting market towns within a very short distance in all directions.
Have stayed on site on 2 occasions and look forward to returning.

Stopped here for one night to break up a journey whilst travelling to Scotland.
The site was exactly what I'd hoped for, easy to find and convenient from the motorway. It didn't take 5 minutes from motorway to being in the farm, yet when there, the road noise was a distant buzz and not disturbing at all.
The camping field is fairly flat with plenty of hook-up points. There didn't seem to be allocated pitches, so just parked up near a hook-up point. There are some hook-up points on the out-buildings near the lake that I didn't see until taking the dogs for a walk around the site once already parked up. The toilets were basic but fairly clean.
The owner was friendly and we had a chat when paying up the next morning ( I couldn't find anyone to pay when we arrived). All in all, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again if I needed to take a break from the motorway.

To be honest a little confused to what I have read previously. I was not greeted and was not met by anyone for more than a day, there was no on site snack shop and no Saturday night clubhouse available which I believed would be there. I did however find that the showers and toilets were very nice. The atmosphere was very friendly and was a very picturesque site. The kids enjoyed playing on the large grassed area in the centre. But don't be fooled this is very 'back to basics' camping, if you expect basic camping you will love it, but don't expect anymore.

Having stayed here on numerous occasions due to work commitments I can honestly say this site improves each and every time. They have added a club house and snack bar in the past 12 months. Fishing is good although I don't fish myself but enjoy watching others participate. Site is cheap and cheerful and gets regular custom from regular people. Site is run very well indeed but in my opinion it needs a office type building to accommodate people on arrival as so people know where to go because you just get told where to pitch up and left to do your own things whilst you set up. The lady in charge then comes round for your money and a natter and is very friendly indeed. Facilities clean and tidy but could be more updated although toilets showers etc are available at a small cost. My only disappointment on the site is a regular who moans about dogs being off leads because he has cats who wonder. Camping should be pet friendly towards everyone. The site is clean and grass is cut regular. The farmer likes a laugh and joke and likes to visit people on site to make sure all is good.

We stayed over here for the fishing as my dad lives local. We arrived Saturday morning. Owner is lovely. Very helpful. Lovely little site. Fishing pool very close to campsite snack bar available threw the day. Bingo, karaoke, disco all provided in the evening. Just bring your own drinks. Had a fantastic time. Will be regulars for the fishing. 10 minutes away from Stafford town centre. 2 minutes away from Penkridge market. Very friendly.

Returned here again to see if things had improved but very disappointed when you enter the camp site the first thing that you see is a caravan surrounded by junk and rubbish
The Fisherman's toilet really needs to be cleaned
Dirty sink and paper all over the floor
The rest of the toilets are just as bad
This site is going down bank fast
With a bit of work this site would be very nice
But at the moment it need work doing I paid for three night only lasted 2 went home
It said on the web site licensed for 10 caravans
There was not even enough room to park my car along side the caravan way to close what happened to the 6 mtr rule ?
