The camp site here is one we have been visiting for many years, it does just get better and better that's what makes us come back.
The site is entered by a secure barrier system which they will raise for you from the office, although you can hire a tag to get in and out (you get full money back when you hand it in at the end of your stay) The shop is always well stocked in the summer season and they even do a take away for food, burgers etc.
The local shop is 5 mins walk towards the village, 15 mins walk the other way is the new Tesco so even quicker in the car.
The new boiler is great, always giving instant very hot water to the very clean spacious showers as well as in the laundry / washing up room.
The site is family owned and over the years of visiting have found them very helpful (especially with one of us having a medical emergency needing an ambulance this last trip)
Yes out of season the site does have general tidying up done, re tiling, painting etc but this means it's not being done when there are too many around and it didn't bother us in the slightest.
Although children are welcomed on the site there is no playground, In summer most older children congregate around the trees at the bottom of the camping field (so not a great spot to pitch if you are child free) but they could be a bit bored if there were no others to play with.
The newest thing we noticed has been the new wooden fencing erected around the caravan storage compound adding extra security at the same time as hiding them away.
We store our caravan here, and the site offers a reasonably charged caravan washing facility saving us the bother and wasting our hard earned leisure time having to do it ourselves.
They do not charge for towing in and out of the compound as many other storage sites do.
You only have to ring before hand to have your caravan on a pitch ready to hook up for electricity and water or ready to tow away.
Yes it can be very quiet here in winter but for us that is the attraction as well as the fact the town has attractions all year round Carnival, Abbey extravaganza, Frost Fayre etc as well as the usual Tor and Wearyall hill to climb and wonderful shops to visit.
Love visiting well worth the three and a half hour journey for a weekend of 'chilling out' time.
It really is a site where you meet all walks of life and great to sit and people watch.

Just returned from a weekend at the Isle of Avalon campsite in Glastonbury. It is a really well run site in a lovely setting. The owners were friendly and helpful, even printing us out a map to show us how to get to the Tor. Lots of lovely shops to browse with an easy going atmosphere, and the local pubs were nice too. We tried the 'Who'd a thought it?' and the King William. Good food and music in the Blue note Café as well! The town is easy to walk into from the campsite, and facilities were excellent. Good sized, hot showers which were free and plenty of regularly cleaned toilets. Nice little shop on site for any forgotten 'camping' essentials. Pitches were well spaced and we had no problems with the electric hook up. Would definitely return to this site!

Having arrived back from, the Isle of Avalon Touring site, I must write a review. My family and I had a great time. The owner of the site could not be more helpful. The shower block. Is very clean, and plenty of room to shower. Good stocked shop, if you want fresh eggs the farmer just up the road will sell you some. Close to the pubs, most are dog friendly. The town is walking distance, lovely shops. The tor is walking distance. A bit hard going to climb up the steep hill, but well worth the effort. We will be going again.

Very secluded, peaceful and lots of atmospheric Christmas lights up with a lovely wee Grotto. Pristine toilets and showers, extremely helpful and sociable staff, useful wee on-site shop, gas stock, and a place we just keep returning to. Really lovely manageress let us in at 9. 45pm! Plenty of hook-ups though we didn't need it this time.
Only 10 minutes walk to Glastonbury town centre, along a semi-rural grass verge. Can see the land features in the morning and plan your ascent of The Tor, via a drink at Chalice Springs, then mooch back via the shops and perhaps a small beverage.
Very much recommend the Isle!

Great site, very clean and well maintained, fantastic facilities, the toilet block was superb, great refreshing showers, good shop, well stocked with all your needs, and a friendly farmer round the corner for fresh eggs, friendly staff and only 10 mins walk from the town centre, the only downside is that I couldn't stay longer. The site was well spaced out and was quiet, an ideal place to relax and unwind, definitely recommended.

Isle of Avalon Campsite - large commercial campsite with full facilities and a shop. But for many people the main attraction is that it is within 10 minutes walking distance of the centre of Glastonbury.
The pitches are a bit regimented in rows but with many mature trees which gives it a woodland feeling. All have EHU (ours rated only 6A) and hard standing albeit caravan, not motorhome-shaped; but joy of joys, there is a motorhome service point!
Out of season the site is rather sad - just stored caravans - all gradually being tinted green with moss. The shop is closed and maintenance staff are painting the outdoor furniture. But out of season it is pleasantly quiet and there is no waiting for the facilities which are good but didn't quite work - dark, unheated cubicles, loose toilet seats, toilets which flush poorly, showers which don't work, etc. Perhaps they will be worked on before the season starts.

I visited this site at the end of February and unsurprisingly I was the only occupant for the 2 nights that I stayed. The shop and snack bar mentioned in other reviews weren't open but given the time of year I wasn't surprised and it didn't affect me at all. The manageress was really helpful and I got the impression that nothing would be too much trouble although thankfully I didn't need to test that.
The site is well laid out although I did find the pitches just a little small for even a medium sized motorhome. There are plenty of fresh water/waste water facilities and a Chemical Disposal Point. The showers were hot, (eventually, but remember I was the only one using them) but not unexpectedly there was no heating in the toilet or shower blocks so I didn't linger.
The town is an easy 10 min walk and the bottom of the Tor about a 25 min stroll. How long it takes to climb the Tor obviously depends on your fitness but even for a pensioner with arthritis its relatively easy!
I found the town to be fascinating and will visit again just to see more of it.
Much has been said of Knight's chippie which deserves its reputation but if you're eating on a bitterly cold night in February, do it in the chippie as by the time you walk back to the site your meal will be cold.
I would also recommend the 'Who'd A Thought It?' in Northload Street for excellent beer and food.

A nice site that I have visited annually for many years. Pitches are flat and you can camp where you like, which is handy as the site can get boggy in places in wet weather.
The owners are efficient rather than friendly but that's just fine. The site is well kept with a small shop and a hot snack service, which comes in handy in the mornings. The toilet/shower block is clean and the water hot (beware the unregulated mains pressure from the cold taps!). There is no charge for the showers.
If memory serves me I paid £12/night for myself and tent.
Glastonbury town centre is a 5/10 minute walk away. All the pubs have something to recommend them, but be sure to checkout the architecture in the George and pilgrim.
Also not to be missed is the licensed fish and chip restaurant in (I think) northload street. Great grub and scrumpy cider! What's not to like about that?

Great site, we turned up unexpected at about 7pm, the office was locked up but someone came out quickly to help and book us in, I think we paid £18- £20 for a good sized pitch on hard standing with hook up for two adults and a dog. Lots of pretty hanging baskets around the buildings and trees between the pitches so you don't feel crowded by the other vans. Each shower cubicle was more like a small room with lots of space to keep clothes dry and lots of hot water. The walls of the shower/toilet block have lots of lovely art work and poems. Staff member told us the quick way into Glastonbury, a lovely site that I would definitely use again.

Stayed here Jubilee week (the week of the floods and high winds). Got soaked.
OK, enough about us. Really lovely site, Well laid out, Flat and despite the weather attempting to drown us the pitch stayed surprisingly well drained.
The owners gave us a warm welcome and showed us directly to our spot for the week,
There is a very well stocked shop on site and chips, hot coffee, bacon butties etc all available for a reasonable charge.
The shower block was always clean and tidy and although it's obvious the owners put a good amount of time into keeping the site looking good they were about due for a redecoration.
It's only a short walk into Glastonbury and as already mentioned Knights Fish and Chip shop does very nice food at excellent prices. We ate at the restaurant at the rear several times and could not fault it plus it's licensed as well.
Plenty to do around the area, nice flat walks extend in most directions and Glastonbury itself is full of places to eat and drink. The Abbey is also worth a visit.
Everything considered we would definitely go back again.
