Stayed here for a couple of nights, liked it a lot.Showers and toilets very good, clean and lots of hot water and plenty of room. There is a shop but didn't use it so can't comment, but the lady running the site was very helpful.
It really is only a 15 minute walk from the town centre, great place for a wander, loads of quirky little shops. Went into the first pub The Who'd A Thought, I think, but found it a bit expensive so used the fish and chip shop/restaurant 50 yards further on.
If you do visit you MUST climb the Tor it's breathtakingly scenic !

We stayed here for three nights attracted by the idea of being within walking distance of Glastonbury and not having to bother with the car. The site is about 10 minutes walk into the centre of Glastonbury and only the first bit is somewhat 'hairy' (lack of pavements etc).
I was attracted by the name and location of the site but in fact was disappointed by the lack of 'hippy' atmosphere. It's quite a big site with a large number of permanently parked caravans and no real evidence of alternative lifestyles. Glastonbury town itself however gave me all the hippy atmosphere I could ever desire - loads of lovely wholefood-y cafes and interesting alternative shops and bookshops.
We booked ahead but found plenty of room in the tent field, despite it being the middle of the school summer holidays. There is a small shop at Reception. We paid around £65 for a family of four for three nights - not exactly cheap but not prohibitively expensive either.
The facilities were ok - plenty of them and reasonably clean apart from at the end of the day when they were obviously due for a clean. The toilet block is quite a walk from the tent field - a disadvantage when you have small children.
There were a lot of kids around and our children made lots of friends - however, the site was too big / impersonal to allow them free-rein to go off - we would never have found them again! They all naturally wanted to gravitate towards the Reception area where the number of cars and people coming in and out and the proximity to the busy road outside worried me. Perhaps such a big site was not the best choice for a family with young children.

Nice laid out site, clean & tidy and just 10 mins walk into town. Only problems were that the staff were not friendly at all, and I was charged for electric when I haven't got electric hook up facilities in my camper, even after I'd shown them my van, I was told I still had to pay! So I was booked in for 3nights and paying for something I wasn't using!? Shame really because it's a nice site, but I wont return.

4/5 star site on the west edge of the town. 70 hardstanding / electric pitches (only 6 amp though) and loads of space to the side for pitching awning onto grass. Easy to peg into.
Great toilets and showers, although they could have been cleaner the time we were there.
Plenty of Washing up sinks in a huge utilities Room that also houses washing machines, driers and a biog freezer that you can put food in and also freeze your camping packs for free.
Disabled loo facility has two rooms with toilet, shower, sink etc in each.
No children's play area so - a Bonus or not depending on if you have Sprogs with you.
A 10 minute walk to the town centre. Heartily recommend the Mitre pub in Benedict Street (100yds from market square) for really good food at sensible prices and a good, friendly atmosphere.
Quiet at night locally unless the Football Club opposite is having a 'Do' which apparently is NOT very often so a good choice for a quiet stay.
We loved it and we will be back!
Cheap price for the level of Stars it has - a Bargain if you ask me. Cost up 'the Oaks' in comparison if you like.

My wife and I have just got back from a short break at this site. The site has everything you need really, nice toilet and shower block, shower cubicles are very big, lots of washing up facilities, with freezers in the same room.
Nice on site shop. Security barrier which you pay £10 for a key fob but you get that back at the end of your stay. Very easy walk into Glastonbury, regular buses from town to Wells etc. I can highly recommend the George and Pilgrims and the Hawthorns Hotel for a drink and food. Must do's are the Tor walk, the Abbey, and the Chalice Well gardens and jump on the bus to Wells.
Great food and drink here, most places quite pricey on their normal menus, but some do specials like two courses for £10. Try the City Arms for inexpensive good quality food. And now for the Cockrel. We pitched about as close to his pen as you can get, and it didn't annoy us one bit

We usually stay at the old oaks when we visit Glasto but as it was a bank holiday and Glastonburys first beer festival (which I can recommend, more great beer than you can shake a stick at and some good tunes!), it was fully booked.
As already mentioned we were told we couldn't book in advance but there was lots of room on the Friday night. It's not a massive field though so I guess they must occasionally get full sometimes, and by Saturday lunchtime it was pretty packed. We found it quite expensive, paying £51 for 2 nights for 2 of us (in a 4 man tent) and a dog.
We weren't given a fob key on arrival so had to organise that as it's the only way to get the car in and out of the barrier. The gates are closed between 07:30 and 11pm so there's no getting in and out between these hours.
The showers were great. Could fit a family of 4 in each one and I would think they are very accessible for wheelchair users. The facilities eg shop, driers family room etc are good drier costs about £1 for 6 minutes.
The campsite has some nice walks nearby which is convenient for wearing out the dog and the town centre is within easy walking distance. Although you can see the Tor from the campsite its not especially close to it. It was however a stones throw from the rugby club where the beer festival was being held.
Glastonbury town has a lot of 'alternative' shops, so if you're into anything wiccan / pagen / crystals / hippy etc. then there are some great shops to look around. The town also caters well for veggies / vegans and has a veggie cafe and a large ethical veggie supermarket. A lot of the pubs are dog friendly too!
We camped quite close to the small farm area bit so had the company of the cockerel but didn't really notice him too much. We were also quite close to one of the main roads so trucks would hurtle past occasionally too. All in all ok but one of the most expensive campsites I have stayed at!

Positive points:-
Close to Glastonbury
Surrounded by trees
Secure, gated site
Campsite shop
Friendly young girl on reception
Negative points:-
On busy weekends tents very close together
Very noisy neighbours at 3am sat and sun
No hot water at all between 12 and 5pm
Charges apply for dogs and gazebos
No loo paper in toilets until after lunch
Toilets not cleaned even after complaints
And to finish. A question. Why build the toilet block close to caravans and RSVs? They have water and loos which they can use and tents do not.

A great site. Plenty of space (well it was early May and cold). Good clean shower and toilet blocks. Friendly owners with well stocked shop. Good washing / laundry room with use of freezer free. The infamous cockerels can be heard virtually anytime, but no real problems with noise.
Glastonbury itself is a wonderfully crazy place. Best place to eat is the Mitre pub (about 15 minutes walk)- not only does it serve good and plentiful food it also serves a wonderful pint of real ale. We will return !

Stayed 1-3 May 2010 - rang in advance to book, but was told that we could just turn up. I always worry that we'll travel & then they wouldn't have room, but we were fine!
£8 per night per person which includes the tent, really good value as the facilities are fab and there's a licensed shop on site should you forget that all important camping essential! Newspapers are not stocked, although there is a newsagents within a 5-10 minute walk.
The tent field is large and very flat. Pitching was wherever you wanted although they do ask you to pitch 3 metres away from the nearest tent for safety.
The showers, loos and the washing up areas were cleaned regularly & were as good as any campsite I've ever used. Unfortunately one morning there was no hot water, but a plumber was called & the problem was remedied quickly.
There are barriers so incoming & outgoing cars are monitored - we were given a 'bipper' so we could operate the barriers ourselves without having to wait for someone to be in reception. No charge, but was warned if we lost it we'd be charged £10.
Glastonbury town centre is apparently only a 10 minute walk, but as it was raining very hard we drove in & parked in the town centre carpark, next to the Abbey - can't remember exactly how much but was definitely less than £5 for 4 hours.
I will definitely go back to this site, but next time will take earplugs as at 1.54am on both mornings I was woken by the infamous cock-a-doodle-doo!
