We have just got back from a short stay at this site. The location is picture perfect and it really is a short walk along the fields to Hawkshead village, which is a very charming place, with good local shops and a co-op that is open until 10. 00pm!
Lots of pubs/hotels/eateries in the village and some good shops too. Oh and the big Hawkshead clothing place is on the outskirts of the village as well, but we didn't venture in.
At this time of year, and with variable weather, the area was lovely and quiet, easy driving.
We used the ferry across Windermere which saved a lots of miles driving to the site.
The campsite has a few EHU units, mainly at the top of the field near the toilet block, but one lower down which we used.
The main field is flat at the top but turns into quite a steep hill, but has several tent pitches around the bottom of the main field which are fairly flat.
We used one of these and ran our EHU cable from the lower EHU (no 1 & 2 I think) and it reached the pitch nearest the wire fence. Hope that makes sense. Otherwise we would have found it difficult to pitch flat as the hook ups at the top of the field were in use.
The site is on a working farm, quite a busy working farm too, but this doesn't cause problems especially if you are out and about during the day.
There is a bit of road noise too, but I imagine that further into the site you wouldn't really hear much. After all the rain recently, the site was well drained, you can park next to your pitch, easily and it's easy to access the site with any type of unit as there are two large entrances.
The facilities are a big surprise. Apparently they are fairly new and are well built, designed, spacious and kept very clean and well stocked.
However, as there were only 4 units when we arrived, then just us, and one other as we left we pretty much had the place to ourselves for most of out stay so the facilities were never stretched!
In the ladies there are 7 toilets, 4 showers and 6 sinks. There is also a central mirrored unit with sockets for hair dryers etc.
There are 4 washing up sinks in a barn, covered and lit with plenty of free hot water to them and lots of space, lots of rubbish bins too.
The owners are lovely, helpful and quite laid back, but there is a strict no noise rule, 11pm to 7am which, according to the notices, is enforced by themselves.
There aren't any children's play areas, swings etc, but there is space to run about and rolling down the hill could be fun!
Its a lovely part of the Lake District. Good for walking, strolling or more energetic hiking. Coniston is quite close too if you need a wider choice of shops. Its a dog friendly site, on
Leads, and the field next to the site, which takes you to the village, although it has sheep in it, is very handy for early morning walks.
Overall, we would be happy to return, but only early or late in the season, it can't be this quiet all the time, and I've experienced the Lake District in high season.

We stayed at this site August Bank Holiday weekend friday to Monday.
When we arrived the welcome was warm, the sit is not the flattest but it is the lakes. We found a flat area and pitched,
The Toilet s & showers are brand newly built and all weekend were clean. The owner patrols the site on a regular basis for security.
There is a milk man who comes daily and sells milk eggs cheese and lots lots more.
The site is 5 -10 mins walk from The village where you will find a few shops and loads of pubs. Would recommend the site due to price and location.

Situated on the outskirts of the picturesque whitewashed village of Hawkshead, Hawkshead Hall Farm provides the perfect base for exploring the southern Lake District. The camping field, surrounded by sheep, cows and rolling hills, ranges from perfectly level to quite seriously sloped, but even when fully booked the campsite only feels about half full as the owners don't believe in packing people in. Speaking of the owners, they are very approachable and keep a close eye on everything that's going on, including noise levels.
The facilities are excellent, we've never had to queue for anything even when the campsite was full, and the use of a freezer to freeze ice blocks for free is a real bonus. Also, during the busy peak season, a milk float visits the site each morning selling not only fresh milk, but also fruit juice, yoghurt and other basic provisions.
My parents used to bring my brother and I here for our summer holidays back in the early 80's when the only available facilities were two pitch black, lean-to toilets situated against the back wall of the farmhouse and a single standpipe! Things have definitely moved forward since then, however the site still holds onto the charm it had back then and I hope this continues to be the case for many years to come. We will definitely be making return visits.

Excellent views from campsite, Hawkshead and shops only 15 minute stroll away along public footpaths.
Shower and loo facilities brand new and excellent (no charge for shower), located next to farm house.
Only one other caravan and two motor homes during our 5 day stay there, mainly tents. Probably because they have limited electric hookups and hard standing areas.
Hardstanding turned out to be essential as it rained every day we were there and the grass started to get quite soft. Hardstanding drained very well.
Hardstandings were next to the road and also only feet away from where the farmer parks the tractors and diggers, so there was a lot of traffic noise, enough to drown out conversation at times.
No play ground for kids, but they do have the run of the campsite!

Me and my girlfriend stayed at this site for 2 nights and we loved it.
The site was nice a quiet with mainly families and walkers staying, which we preferred to sites which allow big groups. The toilet blocks are fantastic and are cleaned every morning. We've stayed at a number of sites throughout the lakes and found these to be the best.
There is no play ground for children on site although Hawkshead is only 10 minutes walk which has a playground. There is also a path through the fields so your not having to walk on the roads which would be good for families.
Hawkshead village is fantastic! We much prefer it to Bowness, it's a lot quieter and you can catch the ferry across Windermere if you want to visit Bowness.
£15 for 2 Adults, Tent, Car and a Dog is great value for the location. We will hopefully be staying again very soon.

Stayed here for 2 nights from August 12th. The site was fairly empty when we arrived at 1pm. We paid £30 for 2 people for 2 nights which I think is good value.
The site is about a 10 minute walk from Hawkshead village which is reached by walking down a stone track at the edge of a field. This saves you having to walk on the narrow road when its dark.
The toilet facilities are excellent and looked very new, there's 4 showers and plenty of toilets in each bathroom and even when the site was displaying a sign saying it was full on sat night (there was still lots of space so didn't feel cramped) I only had to wait about 2 minutes to get a shower.
The site was pretty quiet although I do sleep with earplugs in when camping.
Overall an excellent site, would glady return and recommend to others.

We have just spent 2 nights at Hawkshead Hall campsite and found it to be an excellent site.
A very friendly and welcoming owner was a good start. £15 a night for 2 people and 1 car was very reasonable.
The site is mostly flat, with some sloping areas. They have a 6m between pitches rule, which means that even in busy times it is unlikely to get too claustrophobic.
There are new shower/toilet block facilities with free showers. These are of a high standard and impeccably clean.
There is a small washing up area with a freezer which is a decent size for the size of the site.
Only a 5 minute walk to Hawkshead village via a footpath through fields.
Hawkshead is a busy little place with 4 pubs. In the interests of research we tried them all!Nicest by far was the Queens Head. Food pricey but well worth it.
Would definitely return to this site.

We drove over to Hawkshead on Thursday evening to find the site with only one other happy camper there which was a change! We arrived just before eight and were greeted by the owners who were mid way through painting the new toilet facilities.
The site now uses the entrance on the village side of the farm buildings where access to the Hawkshead show usually is. There has been some levelling of the site over the winter as well but we never found this a problem.
We pitched up in the middle of the site near the water tap which tested our awning on both nights due to the high winds and rain. Although it rained on and off for two days the site drained well. The site now has card facilities for payment which will help keep the cash in your wallet because you will need it for the pubs as they seem to charge a premium for the location.
The existing toilets / showers were always clean and tidy with plenty of supplies.
Hawkshead village is a short walk across the fields to the pubs and co-op.
We paid £15 for two adults and a campervan per night.

A great little site situated just outside the picturesque village of Hawkshead.
Parts of the site are on a slope but we didn't have any problems finding a flat pitch. There has been some work to improve the drainage of the site and there is also work being done to build a shower/toilet block, though the current portable cabin blocks are adequate and cleaned regularly.
There is no on site shop but as has been said previously there is a footpath from the site to the village that has a Co-op. The village also has some places to eat and a few pubs that serve local real ale.
All in all, we had a very enjoyable stay here and will definitely use again!

This was our fourth visit here, we have found the owners to be friendly and helpful each time.
The amenities are sufficient for our needs, the shower and toilet block is currently a port cabin but a new one is under construction.
A large covered barn houses four large sinks with hot water, and there is a large freezer to store ice packs both free of charge. The campsite is surrounded by fields and beautiful scenery.
Hawkshead village is a very pleasant 10 minute, off road walk, with four pubs a few cafes and a variety of shops including a co-op.
There were no amenities for children but they were made welcome.
