Excellent adults only site a short walk from Thornton Le Dale. Lovely area close to North Yorkshire Moors with plenty of walking and things to do in the area.
It is also easy to get to the coast.
The site is adults only so is peaceful. The owners are very helpful and the facilities are excellent and very clean.
Will definitely return.

This is a beautiful site, fabulous facilities. Quiet, tranquil and a big chillax. Lovely walks through the woods to the village where there are 2 pubs, friendly and selling good food and real ales. Back to the site, the showers are very hot and clean, pot wash area is spotless and the pitches are very substantial and owner helps with pitching and locating. Overall this is in our top ten of sites, just love it.

Having read the previous reviews about small pitches and lack of privacy I was a bit worried. However the site was quite quiet when we were there, and we were given one of the larger pitches. It's a very well kept site and high quality (not been in the gents). Very well tended flower beds and wildlife everywhere. It's easy to see that running and keeping the site is a labour of love for the owners, and no expense seems to have been spared.
However it is true to say that some of the pitches are extremely small - effectively along the edge of the track that goes around the site - so you would go on those pitches lengthways and would have no grass or awning space out your van door, but have a bit of grass at the front and rear of your van. For the price, if we had been given one of those pitches we would have been disappointed. If I was thinking of booking again I would enquire about the nature of the pitch I was going to be allocated before booking, and probably go when it's quiet. We were surrounded by other vans but they were all seasonal pitches that were unoccupied so privacy was not an issue.
Thornton itself is absolutely beautiful with some lovely little shops and well worth staying at the site for the short stroll into the village. There are a couple of pubs, restaurants, tea rooms, independent shops selling clothes or things for the house, and a couple of nice antique shops.
If you have dogs (as we do) there are plenty of places just outside the site to give the dogs a good run off the lead, or to chase a stick or a ball into the stream so the site and location got the dogs seal of approval.
It also felt a very safe and secure site if you are someone touring on your own.
I have marked the site down on two points. Firstly the shower has one of those annoying buttons where you get 9 seconds of water then have to press the button again - which interferes with having a relaxing shower as you have to remain ever vigilante. Secondly we have been away 8 days and have paid £16 and £17. 50 for the other two sites we have been on so this is definitely at the dead end (which is probably why people expect a bit more from their pitch). That said, I would definitely come again.

Just returned from this site after been there for the war weekend. In my opinion this site does definitely not come up to the standards written by other reviews. The men's toilet block needs a refurbishment if you like a shower in tepid water that comes out at a trickle this is the site for you.
Also never any form of heating on in October. The pitches also need an upgrade. For a site of this size to only have one chemical emptying point is poor, especially when you are pitched at the far end of the site and the emptying point is near the reception area its a long way to walk and also to carry full cassette.

Thornton le Dale is a wonderful village - great pubs with good food, and all a nice stroll from the site, which is long and narrow, plenty of shrubs and trees, and generally looks nice. We booked a pitch with NO awning, and had a slender pitch next to a beck; not very nice really, so I'd recommend you book pitch WITH awning. We could not sit outside motorhome. Facilities are also very dated and small, but 'do the job'. Strength is the VILLAGE. Especially THE BUCK INN.

The park is lovely flowers in neat arrangements on reception area and around the park, toilets spot less and clean (liked the radio whilst you washed) hairdryers and iron provided at no charge, lending library and games library available too, park well kept and well managed dog walk about 2 minutes away, the village has plenty to offer a nice country show and some lovely shops and pubs minutes away and in easy walking distance over all very pretty location and an ideal base for seeing north Yorkshire Nathalie and Darren have created a lovely adult only park

Just returned from a great week in Yorkshire. Having read through the reviews they all pretty much say it. Site is perfect location, ideal for either walking to the village shops, pubs etc or travelling over the moors to the coast. The views on facilities is about right for the first time ever I took to using the showering equipment in my van rather than walk out the gate in my pyjamas. Generally a very nice welcoming site however, I feel that the top rates charged are for location rather than the facilities available on this site. Be warned if you are booking do not book on pitches 1-10 unless you want to spend the following week back home removing the masses of bird poo from your car, van and awning! its great that they are the only thing you can hear but they really make a mess.

Just had a 3 day stay at the adult only site overbrook park. Nice big site kept really well just a shame about the the facilities you have to walk back out of the park other side of the barrier to get to them. Pity anyone who is right at the bottom end wanting to spend a penny. In the showers they desperately need some hooks on the doors for your clothes as they get wet were you have to hang them in a bag on the wall. But all in all had a good time Thornton le dale is a very pretty place as is Pickering

We have just returned from five weeks at Overbrook Caravan Park, second visit this year and seventh since 2010. Why do we return and stay for so long, its tranquillity, only interrupted by bird song and owls in the evening, very pretty, well kept and manicured and run by a lovely couple, who live on site. YORKSHIRE.
Overbrook is situated at the very edge of Thorton le Dale, the centre being about 15/20 minute leisurely walk away, either along the road or through the woods, whichever way you go you will be accompanied by the Becks which are fed from the Moors.
The site is adult only, thank goodness no noisy play areas and has a maximum of 50 pitches, approximately 25 seasonal and 25 touring pitches (the seasonal pitches are not always fully occupied). The touring site itself is surrounded by fields/pasture land. Open 1 March - 7 January. Dogs are allowed but must be exercised off site, this can be done virtually just outside the park where numerous walks begin, just ask. Dogs must be on short leads in the park (not everyone likes them) mine doesn't mind this. Accidents do happen, clean it up, I do not want to tread in it, I better not get on my soap box about this.
On the right as you enter are the old station offices, which have been turned into holiday lets with all there own facilities. You are greeted with a vista of begonia in hanging baskets, a profusion of flowers in tubs, small isolated gardens, bushes and trees. The theme of flowers, tubs and trees continues along the drive in the site itself, watch out for the topiary steam engine on the right.
The drive then crosses over the Beck which also runs under the owners house. You then come to the card operated barrier an essential part of the site's security which also includes CCTV covering the site up to the barrier. The barrier will not open between midnight and seven in the morning, except in case of an emergency, when the owners are able to bypass the system.
The site is owned by a very friendly Darren and Natalie who have run the site for the past six years. They are always available during the day, either in their office or their whereabouts will be indicated by a card on the door window. They will show you to your pitch and help you site your caravan/motor home and explain where all the facilities are.
There are two types of touring pitches, with or without awnings. I always have the one with an awning, which gives me plenty of space for my van and awning and leaves me a large area of grass for my car. All pitches have 16 amp EHU and are all hard standing. FREE WIFI is available throughout the park. The spaces between pitches do not make me feel that I am on top of anyone else. You can be as social or otherwise as you like. Of course, plenty of room for a BBQ.
There are water points available throughout the site as well as Grey water facilities and rubbish disposal points. There is also a motor home grey water drop near the toilets. A chemical toilet disposal point is also near the toilets, could be a bit of a walk if you are at the distant end of the park. Gas is available in various quantities.
An extremely good information centre is shared by two washing machines, cost depends on type of wash, but a general wash is £2 and two tumble driers, each costs a pound an hour. Make sure you put your coins in the correct place for the machine you are using, I have put money into a machine that I was not using, enough said. They all work very well, except if users have not bothered to empty the water from the dryers after use!
Next door to this is the main rubbish point, including a can/plastic bottle crusher (most people tend not to use it, but I get quite a kick out of it - SAD).
Next door is the washing up point with two large sinks (one can be used for hand washing), drainers and bowls. There is an ironing board and iron (free use of the electrics). A small lending library is at the rear, both books and some DVD's.
Last in line are the toilet facilities. The ladies are modern and tiled with three toilets one of which has a hand basin, two separate basins and three showers, all of which had hooks the last time my wife saw them. If you want to keep your clothes completely dry then each shower has a waterproof clothes bag which you can hang your clothes. The men's toilets are not modern and will need a makeover in the future, the owners are quite aware and is certainly a future project. There are two toilets, three urinals with separate hand basin. Two showers, three wash basins and shaver points, the showers again have waterproof clothes bags, I tend not to wear my best Tuxedo when I go for shower. Both facilities are heated, have plenty of hot water and piped music (Minster radio), the only cold water I have found is from the cold tap water. I have never found the facilities dirty, untidy maybe after everyone has been in, but they are regularly cleaned by a very pleasant lady, they are never shut for an hour whilst this is done. I suppose there may be short queue at very busy times but I have never come across one. I suppose if everyone spent three hours in them it could happen but I am quite content with my visits of twenty minutes a day - I'm here to see Yorkshire.
Outside of the park there are plenty of walks, with or without a dog. Just going to Thorton le Dale can take you through the woods, very pleasant. If you had no transport and buses were not running then Thorton le Dale has everything you could need. If you are likely to use the car park it can be quite expensive, I would suggest you buy £10 ticket which can be used for a year and allows people to park as many times as they like without feeding the ticket machine - can be purchased at Baldersons. There are two pubs (New Inn and The Buck) the food in both is hearty and good, both allow dogs inside. Baldersons cafe is a must, it serves a delicious breakfast, tea coffee and cakes. Lunches are superb and cooked freshly (try the fish and chips). Dogs are allowed in the rear garden. They also have an on site bakery, where bread, cakes and pies are freshly made daily, the bakers is just next door to the cafe. A small supermarket where you can get most things you would require. Daily papers, garden items, DIY, books, maps, birthday cards and much more can be purchased at Wardhills. There is a post office and chemist. A car museum for all you enthusiasts, must be worth a visit or go to one of their auctions. Keep an eye out for local events, during the summer months they have local live groups performing on the village green.
If this is not enough there is a very regular bus service to such places as Scarborough, Whitby, Leeds, Pickering, Helmsley and all points in between. Unfortunately they are stopping the Moors summer bus service next year, complain!. The moors are spectacular and have different moods throughout the year. Go to Malton by bus for train service and bus service connecting you all over Yorkshire and further afield.
Pickering is the next biggest town just down the road, where you can still enjoy steam train journeys through the moors. Various shops and a Market on Mondays. Most important there is a vet, should you have a problem with your pet whilst away, I would thoroughly recommend it after needing to use it, Eastgate Veterinary Centre.
There is so much to do and see I could write a book and just might do so. Enough blathering, go and enjoy.

We have now been coming to Overbrook for the last five years. Since we first came we were welcomed by the owners as friends and now consider them to be just that.
The site is always immaculately kept, clean and tidy.
We have come here at all different times of the year and each time it is just as beautiful. In the spring and summer months the flowers are glorious and in the winter months the trees are illuminated in lovely green lights as you walk into the park.
Both myself and my husband have always found the facilities to be absolutely immaculate and nipping clean.
Due to the demise of our caravan we are now staying in one of the four cottages which have been converted from the old railway station. It is absolutely perfect, home from home, with the cottage having everything you want for a comfortable and cosy holiday.
Perfect location for touring the lovely Yorkshire towns and stunning countryside.
This is our third visit to Overbrook this year and we intend booking next years breaks straight away. It's our little piece of heaven on earth and we love it.
