Overbrook is not a perfect site - but it is about the closest we have been to in many years of caravanning & camping.
Situated at the edge of a 'chocolate box' vista village, convenient for Pickering, Malton, York, Scarborough and the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, the village itself offers three pubs - all serving food - four tea shops, a fish & chip shop. Pizzeria, grocers shop, newsagent, - and a chocolatier. What more could you want?
There are regular buses from the village to Scarborough, Pickering, Helmsley, Malton and York; indeed this is probably the best way to go to any of these places, as parking there could be difficult. Eden Camp, near Malton is well worth a visit.
The site itself has 50 pitches, - all hard standing with 16A hook-up, of which about half appear to be seasonal. There is just one toilet and shower block - at the site entrance, which gives quite a walk if you;re pitched at the bottom of the site. Whilst always clean, they certainly became stretched over the Bank Holiday weekend, and could do with a modernisation makeover.
The site is quiet, being Adults only and bordered by fields. Only the blackbirds and the bleating of lambs to disturb the peace.
Overbrook is not the cheapest site around, but you gets what you pays for here! We will definitely return.

This was our first outing of the year, so it had to be a good choice as it would set the tone for the rest of the year. Overbrook is an adult only campsite on the outskirts of Thornton Le Dale. On our arrival, the owners were very friendly. The campsite itself was very clean and tidy. The toilet blocks were very clean and well maintained. Really good hot showers.
The village of Thornton Le Dale is very pretty and within walking distance of the campsite. Took about 20 minutes to get there from the site. There are several good shops within the village and 3 pubs all of which serve food.
It's a good base for exploring other areas and attractions of North Yorkshire. We had a lovely day out on the Yorkshire moors Railway.
It's a lovely site, one that I would recommend to anyone wanting a peaceful holiday.

Lovely, quiet well kept site with clean and good facilities. Staff very helpful and obliging. Good location nice village nearby with eateries pubs and shops.
Just one small criticism it was difficult to keep your belongings dry in the shower. The design of these made it very difficult. I suppose I should have brought a large plastic carrier bag to put things in but I didn't have one. Thanks for your help with motorhome facilities.

What a delightful little caravan park. Upon arrival we were met by the owner who was very helpful friendly and efficient, he helped to pitch our van and gave us the necessary information about the site. The facilities are excellent and cleaned daily.
There is the village of Thonton-Le-Dale just a 10 minute walk away with a selection of good pubs small shops and lovely tea rooms and bakery. This is a very central place for visiting Whitby Scarborough and the city of York also Pickering is worth a visit. We will be returning sometime soon.

We stayed here in our tourer for 4 nights with our friends in their motorhome. What a lovely welcome from the owner and the visit only got better. Any other staff we encountered were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. The site is lovely and peaceful (adult only) and well maintained.
The amenity block was spotless and has a free hairdryer in the ladies. The only trouble we had was with t. V. Reception, but it wasn't a major problem as our friends had good reception so we watched tv in theirs. The free wifi is a bonus.
The village of Thornton le Dale is very picturesque and about a 15 minute stroll away. It has 3 pubs that we saw, a chippie (which we didn't try) and a lovely tea rooms. There is a small convenience store, butcher, gift shops and a pharmacy. The Buck Inn at the crossroads is where we ate on the Friday night food was lovely and is reasonably priced. We were going back there on the Monday night but unfortunately my husband wasn't very well so we never made it.
Apart from that we had a great time and would not hesitate to recommend this site and we will return.

We stayed here for 2 nights. It was our 1st visit and we booked purely because of the feedback left by members who had stayed previously.
We weren't disappointed. We were shown to our pitch by Darren and he had our caravan pitched before I had got out of the car. We had a walk in to the village on the afternoon and were welcomed in the New Inn with our 2 dogs for a couple of drinks.
The site is lovely and quiet, the village of Thornton-le-Dale is beautiful.
We will definitely stay again.
Well done Darren and Natalie, you are doing a great job, keep it up!

Brilliant little site. Very well kept, nothing too much trouble for the owners, who kept you in-touch of their whereabouts.
Toilets and showers top class. Very nicely positioned for exploring lots of really nice places.
Thornton le dale within 10 mins walk, lovely little village with some really nice little shops.
Dog walking off site but only 2 mins down the road and into some lovely woods or across the road for a big field.
We definitely will be back.

Just back from a great few days at Overbrook, a lovely little site set on the edge of the beautiful village of Thornton le Dale, the site is very well kept, cleen and tidy, a credit to the keeper. No dog walking on site but plenty just off site.
Toilet and shower facilities are OK, clean and tidy, nice to have to listen to a little 70/80's music, had a little sing along one evening, just like being at home.
A good location for exploring the Dalby Forest & North Yorkshire, thank you Overbrook we will be back.

A lovely peaceful site in a great location and very welcoming and friendly staff.
Not having read all of the previous reviews we were disappointed with our 'non awning' pitch which was a bit tight for our motorhome. The toilets and showers, at least the gents, need a complete overhaul and an increase in the number of facilities. Other than that we would happily return to explore the surrounding area.
