Campsite was good, toilet block clean,
We had to book for a minimum stay of three nights as it was a bank holiday and where allocated pitch 24, But there are unknown pitches! On Sunday night we returned from a day out to find a campervan and awning within a meter of our van. When we complained we where told that was pitch 24a and there more unknown pitches on the site.
We will not be returning!

Did you stay at this campsite between Dec 2014 and February 2015?
Raw TV are making a Channel 4 winter weather documentary about people who enjoy the outdoors in the winter time. They have been filming in the Peak District and are looking to get in touch with any caravanners who have stayed at the site at the Duke of York, Pomeroy, near Flagg, Derbyshire this winter. They are looking for any short videos people have shot on their smartphones or cameras during December, January and February at the site, either from inside a caravan or outside.
Please email winter@raw.co.uk to get in touch to find out more.

Our 3rd visit, still love it.
Keith, one of the owners stopped cooking during Sunday lunch service and towed us out with his Discovery wearing his chef whites when our snow chains broke on our second visit end of January What a hero.
On our visit last weekend we find they have now put clothes hooks in the shower/loo block.

I winced when they told me it was £20 a night even in February but now I've been I think it was worth every penny and I can't wait to get back. I was attracted by the photos of the view and I wasn't disappointed: a huge vista over miles of the Peak District, I just loved watching the snow and hail storms as they blew across the countryside. The location is great, only a short drive out of Buxton and yet you really do feel you have got away from it all here. There are nearby footpaths if you like walking and there is a field adjacent if you want to give the dogs 5 mins. The facilities were superb: stylish and spotlessly clean and delightfully warm. The Duke of York has a restaurant that is popular with locals; the bar had a good atmosphere that makes you feel like you are welcome - the real fire added to the effect. My only gripe is that it was a bit pricey. Very pleased with the hardstanding pitch with EHU and water. This site is relatively new and can only improve over time when all the new hedging that has been planted matures and offers some shelter from the biting winds - I just hope they don't obscure the fantastic view. Overall, the site is a credit to the management and I wish I was still there!

Reluctant to leave a good review as I want to make sure it's not full the next time we want to visit!
Spent 3 nights over the worst weather period, thick snow and biting winds. The managers and the wardens did a fab job to make sure no-one was disapponted over New Year. Even after getting a tractor in to clear the ground of snow, it was still bad, so they went the extra mile! Caravans and Motorhomes were parked on the site roadway and on the pub car park as half the site was not useable, but EHU was avaialble for everyone. Lovely atmosphere was created.
Fabulous views, very close to High Peak Trail for walking. Morrisons supermarket 10 mins away in Buxton for supplies.
Shower block and loos spotless with underfloor heating. Small niggle - somewhere to hang clothes perhaps? Not a big deal, I just threw them over the door top. Tent dwellers may appreciate a hair drier.
Pub has good food - good quality cooked from scratch 'pub fayre' and priced appropriately. Real ales well kept and good price, wine a bit expensive at £16 for bottle of house.
Keith and Chris the managers are so much fun and the wardens, Phil and not sure of the lady's name are so helpful. A really hardworking team. We will be back!

Just returned from a fantastic long weekend from the Duke of York. Campsite lovely. Clean site with friendly staff. Will definitely return in the near future and the food was outstanding with very quick service and a lovely atmosphere. Just a shame the weather was not a little better, but it was November

This is a great new site. The site is well laid out with lots of taps available. The toilet block is new with great facilities.
The location is very handy for the High Peak / Tissington Trail and the pub has great ale, food and customer service.
All you need for a great break.
Minot improvements needed; Some decent hooks in the toilet block, PIR internal lighting time need extending and a grey waste drain is needed.

Pros
Beautiful clean showers, real shower doors as well not curtains.
Toilets all good too, all kept clean
Lovely views
Signs for all the amenities clean, funky and well presented
Warden on site, but leaves you alone unless you need him
Pub on site obviously
Free Wifi in the pub, not much of a signal near the bottom of site, or in area really
Tissington Village and tearooms worth a chilled out visit.
Dog exercise is a big field so plenty of room but we didn’t use it as we have an elderly boxer who can walk far these days.
Cons
Only 2 showers and 4 toilets for women and same for men on a site with 60 pitches with tents so could be a queue when busy, didn’t bother us as we ended up on the Monday with the whole site to ourselves.
Pitches quite close together – you wouldn’t get your caravan/motorhome with awning and a car on the pitch, Luckily we parked on the empty hardingstanding next to us, but if busy then you would have to park your car in pub car park, or try and squeeze it on the front of caravan space if not too big a car.
No grey waste disposal, you just pour that away into the grass by the walls/trees near your van.
No running water at the chemical waste point, so you cant wash your chemical toilet out, or wash any waste away in the toilet area.
You cant get onto the site until 2pm which is a bit of a waste of a day on a Friday if you are only going to the Sunday, as you have to leave by 11am, not so bad if you are there for a few days or a week.
There is some noise from the road being the A515, but didn’t detract from our break.
Those are the main points, it’s a basic site, with amenities but having seen how much has been spent on the facilities block, another few pounds would be beneficial for having a hose at the chemical point, and having a drain or something where your grey waste could go.
On the whole we had a nice time, weather was average but warm, but it’s a walkers paradise, so it wouldn’t matter what the weather was like for dog walkers and walkers.
Would we go back – yes we would but again when not busy.

It’s been just over 12 months since we have visited and what a change to the site. On our last visit the site resembled a building site, with work well underway to create new pitches, toilet block and general landscaping.
The site now has a modern, clean shower/toilet block, a choice of hard or grass pitches and separate camping field and dog exercise area; there is also low level lighting. There have been hundreds of trees planted around the parameter and once these start to mature, it will make the area more beautiful.
We had a pitch at the far end of the site which had spectacular views of the hills and fields. There are plenty of water points dotted about. Good Free-view TV reception using an aerial, mobile (02) good, although couldn't get any WIFI.
The pub has not lost any of its charm since the previous landlord left, and thankfully has not been modernised, but still in keeping with the environment. We had two evening meals and all the food was excellent and reasonably priced. The current landlord and staff very pleasant and the service was also excellent.
All in all for £20 per night, we would highly recommend a visit here and we look forward to returning again.
Looking for a lovely trip out? – Eyam Hall & Craft Centre (NT) and Plague Museum well worth a visit.
