What a fantastic site. The owners are delightful and helpful and the toilet, showers and washing up facilities are truly exceptional. Absolutely spotless and more like a quality hotel then a caravan site.
It's a nice quiet site with plenty of trees and shrubs and good sized hard standings. I would recommend this site without reservation.
The only downside is that there isn't a pub within walking distance.

Owners very pleasing and helpful, found me a nice dry pitch, well the driest. Showed me where to put the car and advised me that the picnic table could be moved to suit me.
Great coffee in information office and shop, although only small, seemed to have something of everything.
As always something to say about the toilets, always very clean, but why do you have showers that go off after 30 seconds, why not give 5 minutes worth of water.

Arrived 1/2 early on a 6 hour drive.
Prepared to unhitch and take dog for a stroll until allowed entry time of 1pm.
Male owner came out and said Ok no problem and helped us through the lengthy rules and regulations. He was accommodating and even offered a hard standing if available. Female said there were no other pitches but several remained empty all week.
We were unable to get satellite reception on our pitch and asked if we were doing something wrong. We were met with a frosty reply along the lines of ' I'm sick of people moaning about no reception', from the female owner. We are normally quite relaxed on our holidays but this left us feeling a tad uncomfortable. We felt like we were in for a telling off at any moment. Such a shame as we plan to visit Dartmoor regularly but will find another site.
On the positive side, the site is perfect for exploring Dartmoor. The site is very quiet and the shower / toilet block is immaculate.

We have just come home from this wonderful site after just 4 days (we had booked to stay for 10), due to the bad weather.
The site is very quiet, all you can hear is birdsong (when the rain isn't beating down on your tent!).
The toilet /shower block is immaculate - the best we've ever seen. Constant free hot water - lovely!
The washing up area is also very clean and well laid out.
Jan & Chris were very welcoming.
We were right near the dog walk area, which is a large field - our black Labrador loved it.
The electric hook up pitches are well laid out, with grass & hardstanding.
Recommend this site, for peace & quiet, and best of all - child free!

I have just come back from a week at Woodland Springs. I'll start with the negatives as to end on a high!
We were greeted at reception by the owner who read out the 'rules' of the campsite (these are shown on their website and should be obeyed at all times!) if you forget the rules, helpful do not signs are located around to remind you. If these are not obeyed the owners will gladly come and tell you so, a wag of the finger may also occur.
Anyway, negatives over and on to the positive- the site is clean, and well maintained. It has a good toilet/ showerblock, although they could do with a few more showers, as occasionally there would be queue. There is a hot drinks machine which is great, especially when it's cold. The pitches are a good size and flat. You may need to be careful if you are expecting a lot of rain during your stay as they become boggy very quickly.
Dartmoor is a great place to visit, especially if you like walking. Fingle Bridge (and the inn) is worth a visit, you can do a nice circle walk from Castle Drogo if you wish. I would highly recommend going to Lydford Gorge, it certainly has a wow factor and is a great day out. Exceter is not far away and is nice to look around, especially for shopaholics!
So to sum up, nice area, nice site but shame about the owners.

Can only repeat what was posted by previous reviewer. This campsite is everything you can expect from an excellent tranquil camp site.
The owners can be proud of their site and all the hard work they put into running this well maintained camp site.
The fresh baked bread is a wonderful addition to the essential supplies available in the small camp shop.
The shower block along with the dish wash and laundry facilities were spotless at all times of the day.
Easy to follow directions to site making your arrival less stressful, no little lanes to squeeze down.
This site is an excellent example of a 5 star Tranquil site that many other site owners should take example off.

Just spent yet another very nice stay. As always an enjoyable time.
Having just read the review bemoaning the owners and their rules I feel that I must say something.
Many campers/caravanners just ignore any rule no matter where they are, it seems that they just don't think that any rules should apply to them. The local refuse collectors are extremely strict on what refuse is and what is recyclable and Jan and Chris ask that people take a few minutes to separate them, but do they. Every morning when we have stayed there we see Jan in the waste area having to go through the bags separating stuff that is obvious recycling from the rubbish, all because people just do not think the rules apply to them!
A 1 acre dog field does not seem to do it for some people as we have found dog doo around the site where the owner couldn't be bothered to go that far and not even bother to pick it up!
We even saw people who blatantly walked across a freshly seeded area just to save a few yards
This is a friendly site run by two of the nicest people that I know, they want people's stay to be pleasant and not ruined by others who just want to 'do their thing' and to hell with any site rules.
With regards the showers, we have never had to queue at any time when here and so what if you have to wait for 5 or 10 minutes, you are on holiday
We have been coming here for 5 years and will continue to do so for as long as camp/caravan as it is a site that allows us to relax because it is so well run by friendly owners who want to make their customer's stay pleasant. It was my wife's 60th while we were down there and Jan and Chris even snuck up on us and tied balloons on the caravan and awning as a surprise.
Please take what the odd whinger has to say with a pinch of salt and go and enjoy some peace here.

Woodland springs, well what can I say, a brilliant site and the 1st one we have tried as we are first time caravan owners.
Toilet/shower block deserves its 5* rating but would have liked for the showers to run constantly not having to push a knob ever 20 seconds which I did find difficult as have arthritis in hands.
Dog friendly and a nice size dog walking area for a quick morning walk. Jan & Chris a little bit dictorial about the way things are run but they do a lot to keep the site nice.
Did find it very boggy but did go when there was a lot of rain. Very difficult to bang awning pegs in to the hard standing area. Best bit was it is child free so no screaming kids around which was nice. Shop is actually a shed with very basic items. Good information shed with loads of leaflets on things to do and places to visit.
Coffee machine a bit expensive at a £1 for a small paper cup full. Did find it a bit far from places to visit. We did have a good mid week deal so happy with the cost and would probably visit again just for the peace and quiet. Could not get a decent tv reception.

Reluctantly returned home after a week on this superb site, ably run by one of the nicest and friendliest couples you are likely to meet.
Very peaceful and quiet site, although extremely easy to get to from the A30 with NO country lanes to negotiate.
Contrary to a previous post, in my opinion there is plenty of space between pitches. TV Reception (Digital) was a bit fiddly to setup but I think it depends where you are on site.
Site is very dark at night (take a torch), allowing wonderful views of the starlit skies.
The toilet/shower facilities are top rate - we found them spotlessly clean at all times of the day and night and cosily warm on those frosty mornings. Dishwashing facilities are in the same building, plus washing machines and tumble driers. And each area is of the same high standard.
There is a well organised rubbish recycling regime in operation, and toilet chemicals must be the NON-Formaldehyde variety.
There's a small shop at reception selling essentials (and great ice cream!) open for a couple hours morning and evening, and a well stocked information room open 24 hours so you can plan the next day's adventures.
Castle Drogo (NT) a couple miles away and beautiful Fingle Bridge on the River Teign a bit further on with riverside walks. Dartmoor is right on the doorstep so loads of walks (we did a part of the 'Granite Way' starting at Okehampton. )
Only ate out a couple times - at the Fingle Bridge Inn and Taw River Inn (Sticklepath) where the pies are out of this world. Don't be put off by the slightly run down appearance of the building, the food inside is great and very reasonably priced. (2 main meals, 2 desserts and drinks - £23 !)
To sum up. Great site, great location, great owners. Can't wait to go back again!

To be honest, I cant understand the review below but there you go! I've just spent a very pleasant week here. We didn't want to spend hours travelling this time and only came from the Looe area to this site.
We found the facilities absolutely spotlessly clean every time my partner and I used them. The next thing I liked was that the site is very dog friendly.
There's a nice flat and well cut field you can let your dogs loose in and its a nice sized area to use a ball flinger! Where we were on the site the dog exercise area was about a 2 minute walk from our van.
During our stay we had a very rough and wet night but the pitch which was all gravelled drained very well. By the time the rain cleared, you wouldn't have known it had rained. The grass pitches were a little soggy but that was to be expected given the rain that fell.
This site was also very peaceful and quiet. There is a small shop on site with part time opening hours.
You'll need to drive a short distance to the nearest pub or shops but we knew that beforehand. We would certainly come here again. Very nice.
