One of the best sites we have stayed at recently. Excellent facilities; clean spacious shower/toilet blocks, good laundry facilities and washing-up. Very helpful and friendly owners. We value quietness, and had no problems at Woodland.
A few minor criticisms. The site is quite gravelly, but then I gather caravan people mostly like it like that, and they are in the majority on this site. I think the Wifi charges are way too high at £5 a day or £20 a week. They ought to be about a quarter of that.
Overall, an excellent site, and one of the best in the Tranquillity group that we have stayed at.
Castle Drogo is just a few miles away, and forms a good base for walking. There is a splendid river valley walk from there going east. Their cafe (NT) is open from 08:30 each day for breakfast. Best place to eat? The Ring O' Bells at Chagford (3 miles). NOT the Ring O' Bells at Bovey Tracey.

We had a tent pitch with electric hookup at Woodland springs over the August Bank Holiday Weekend, and would have to say we really enjoyed our stay.
We found the site to be clean and well maintained, the shower/toilet block was warm and clean, and the washing up facilities were excellent.
The owners were friendly and helpful, and the warm croissants for breakfast were Fabulous, as was the local cider available in the on site shop.
The site is well located for those who enjoy peace and quiet - it was VERY dark at night, which was great for some star gazing. A short drive gets you to some lovely pubs with very reasonably priced food and good local ales. It is an excellent base for exploring Dartmoor.
The pitches are a little close together, although we have a large tent (Vango Samara 600) and could fit comfortably on the pitch, so they are a reasonable size.
If you plan to make use of the day kennelling facility for your dog, be aware that the facilities appear to be fairly basic. However the dog exercise field is a good size, and our dog thoroughly enjoyed exploring and meeting other dogs there.
Overall a great site in a beautiful location.

Woodland Springs was a serious culture shock for us, having that day come from an all singing all dancing site in North Devon to this adults only site. The quiet almost hurt your ears !
We were met by very friendly and welcoming site owners ( who's names I can't remember, sorry nice people ) who showed us to our flat grass pitch and explained how the campsite worked. After erecting our camper we had an excellent cup of coffee from the machine in the hut which had not only the usual leaflets but also wifi as well.
We found the dog walking field was small but adequate, and with Dartmoor so near size was not important.
There was little or no lighting at night and this was to our favour on the cloudless time we were there, as we could lie on the grass outside the camper in the pitch dark and gaze up at billions of stars, an awesome sight.
Out and around the site there are lots of places to visit, we found Dartmoor beautiful, and Fingle Bridge has a great pub and lovely quiet walks alonside the river, and for me a trip into the past as I well remember struggling up the hairpins in an old Cortina on the Exeter Trial.
We also visited Trago Mills while we were there and were amazed just how big the place is, I think that maybe you can buy anything there, a shoppers holy grail !
All round a great adult only site, the pitches were not the largest but were flat and well maintained, the shower block was clean and seemed almost new, I liked the barrier at the site entrance for which you are given a code number, and the peace and quiet are unbeatable.

A lovely site but no room pitches are so close you can here conversations and we were kept awake by snorers in the tents by us.
Must admit been on much better sites, even the toilet blocks were not particularly private and very difficult to 'clean' floors,
When we go away we tend to look for peace and quiet, and did not find it on this site. Also found lots of do's and don't's felt like a naughty child at times.
And quite a distance from restaurants, too far to walk,

Stayed at the site Monday to Saturday (June 6-11) on a 7 for 5 tariff. This has to be one of the best sites we've stayed on in terms of quality of the facilities, great pitches, quietness, security etc.
Great secluded area for exercising the dog too, he loved it.
Easy to see why they won 'best loo award' for their outstanding shower block.
The only down side to our stay was the (wet) weather. !
The nearest pub (the Post Inn) is fantastic, although over a mile from the site along a narrow road, which we didn't consider to be (within our) walking distance, especially in the rain.
An absolute must is a visit to Fingle Bridge Inn, about a 3 mile drive: have a gentle stroll along the river (very pretty) and then a drink back at the Inn (great Ales). We ate their 3 nights too as their food was THE BEST we found in the area and very, very reasonable.
Site owners were great, very helpful and friendly.
We'll certainly be staying again in future.

Another splendid stay at Woodland Springs and the work that Chris and Jan have done over the winter really shows, all hardstanding pitches now laid out in a white stone.
The welcome was as warm and friendly as ever with Chris and Jan being their normally friendly selves. We just love being able to sit outside during the evening and gaze at the sky.
The facility block is still one of the best we have seen and it is always kept immaculate.
If you are looking for some peace and tranquillity then this is the place to go.

On arrival very friendly and welcoming host. We were a bit nervous as this was our first time camping since kids. Owner was helpful in answering our questions and providing useful information.
Site felt very secure with a coded barrier in use all day. Our pitch seemed quite large (our tent is 3m x 6m with porch fitted) and the tent fitted easily. Ground was reasonably flat, drained fine as was raining a bit during our stay and pegs went in well. Also had our own picnic table.
Toilets and shower facilities were spotless and well deserving of the award they won in 2010 (Loo of the Year). Weather was pretty chilly, down to 3 overnight but facilities were always warm with plenty of hot water. The fresh bread and croissants we ordered for brekkie were also lovely.
Although a great campsite only down side was nowhere to easily walk to for an evening meal. We did walk to the local pub (which we thought was excellent value) via the fields which was a bit of an adventure which some people may not enjoy. We came back via the main road which was okay but no pavements or verge to move onto for a large part of the walk where cars were doing up to the limit (60mph).
Overall really enjoyed the trip and ended up staying an extra night.

This was an unexpected weekend. We had to meet someone in Falmouth on the Saturday and had intended to drive down and back to Derby with 1 night in a Premier Inn. But then decided why not get the caravan out of storage early, clean it down etc. Etc. And have a weekend in the Westcountry.
So we got on site in the dark, but to a warm and helpful welcome. I agree with one review that lighting is very limited so a high power torch is essential as I struggled in the dark with finding my way to the water tap. But please don't install better lighting - I also like the comment about lack of light pollution for good and clear star gazing!
The location is only a couple of miles off the A30 so convenient after a long drive - and for a quick excursion into Cornwall, like us. But it is also within the Dartmoor National Park so you don't need to travel too far to see some wonderful scenery. We were lucky with the weather with bright blue skies, but of course in March Dartmoor gets some very cold nights (-4).
There are lots of nice pubs on Dartmoor, but our favourite was a lovely little pub serving real ale including Dartmoor brewery 'Jail Ale', and good food. It was warm enough to sit outside on the Sunday - 'The Rugglestone Inn', Widecombe-in-the-Moor, TQ13 7TF (15 miles from site).
Nearer the site, we also ate at The Post Inn in the nearby Whiddon Down village. A no frills local pub - but the service was quick, food good and prices ok - and good local beer.
We couldn't find anywhere to eat within reasonable walking distance.
Back to the site - owners were friendly, toilets & showers clean, always available, and warm. No problem with digital TV - once I could see a neighbours aerial direction. Forced to use WiFi with an unexpected work demand, but reasonable price and signal was good.
Site had recently been re-gravelled, and looked very tidy in anticipation of a busy season no doubt.
This is an adult only site so we would definitely stay at Woodland Springs again.

We first discovered this site by stopping off for 1 night on our journey back to Cornwall from Tewkesbury. Since then we have spent a couple of long weekends there, culminating in leaving the caravan with them for the Winter season (at a £1 per night, deducted when you stay). This is the best recommendation and we are staying again Boxing Day until early January. Ideal for our purpose as we wanted a site within 2 hours travel from home. Chris and Jan are really friendly and helpful, the site is spotless and quiet, the pub at Sandypark (5 minutes drive) very unchanged over the centuries with good food and a cracking log fire. Dogs welcome.

We stayed for a week at Woodland Springs. The toilets and showers are excellent always clean and warm, the best we have come across so far. The site is nice and quiet but easy to get to from the main road, it is also very well placed for visiting Dartmoor. The only negatives we found with the site were the shop and the recycling. The shop is quite small and at the time of our visit being off season had very little in it and what was there was expensive. I found the recycling a real pain, there is not room in the van to separate all our rubbish so it was very unpleasant having to go through my waste in the bin bag individually to make sure it was put in the right receptacle as everything is recycled far more than in most home recycling. Apart from the above we enjoyed our stay at the site.
