Robin hood retreat is a lovely friendly site. Very clean. The showers are fantastic. The new owners are very helpful, they took the time to show us round and talked to us about their next project. Our 3 children made friends and spent hours on the small play park, so while the kids played we could relax in the sun. The other families were great. We can't wait to get back there.

Been here in the past and loved it, there used to be a green oval with kiddies playthings in the middle, trees, birds and a fantastic warden (Jeff) that used to leave you alone, (he's now gone) which is what you want. The new owners have moved in and the only improvements is the single lane road in has had the potholes fixed. The owners live on site on two caravans, and when their family visit, you feel like you are invading on their privacy, very uncomfortable. The grass has been dug up, the play things moved and now you feel like you are in a carpark. Trees have been cut down and back, feels very open now and not quiet and private like it used to be. There are 4 womens toilets and two mens, not enough when the place is busy. Felt like we were holidaying with our parents, the owners are always walking about. What a pity, we wont be back.

Big changes, some not for the better. Been here in the past as it is close (15-20 minutes) to Sherwood Forest, and not as busy as Sherwood Forest Holiday Park. Firstly, the road has been fixed, still single lane, but nowhere near as bumpy. The new owners have moved in to two big caravans. Odd since there is a new, empty house on site. The brilliant warden (Jeff) has gone. He was helpful and then left you alone, this is exactly what you want, you don't want to see owners/wardens 'in your face' so to speak. The new owners are always about, playing loudly with grandkids, back and forwards, all day. We also had them tailgating on the road out! Think if your parents moved in with you; very uncomfortable. This is the feeling we got here; like we are intruding in someones backyard. The large grass oval in the middle where the kids used to play is gone. In its place are more touring pitches, you feel like you are in a carpark. Lots of trees have been cut down/back. There was only a bit of privacy for a few pitches before, but now, there is even less. Gone too is the laundry and small shop. The Copper Beech pub, as supposedly recommended I would give a miss if you like good food. Go to The Lion in Farnsfield instead; much better. A pity the park has crammed in more pitches, and taken away much of the grass and trees. Would only consider coming back if owners were not in the vans next to you, were more friendly and the grass oval in the centre was restored to how it used to be.

Just had a lovely couple of days here. Many thanks to Geoff for helping us with the caravan as hubby had a broken hand. Grandchildren loved the play area but missed not having the little tuck shop. They were looking forward to spending their pocket money but on the plus side the pot holes leading up to the site are gone.

The staff were lovely and friendly. The playground was good with plenty of toys for my 3 yr old to play with, scooter, balance bike, stabiliser bike, football on rope, wendy houses, waterguns, football, slide, swings, monkey swing, climing frame. Chickens and birds in 2 separate compounds and a friendly parrot indoors, tuck shop with lots of sweets and few shop items. Grounds clean tidy with lots of trees and private area area caravan. Hardstanding pitch with the park play area in centre. Toilets clean and tidy with fresh flowers, although showers didn't have a door just curtains. But not many pitches on site. The drive up to the caravan site was bad with lots of pot holes from the farmers machinery. Nice and quiet area but no phone signal not even in local pub. Good close to wheelgate theme park and superstore tesco.

I booked this site based on its reviews. It certainly didn't disappoint. A beautiful little site, clean and well-kept by Geoff and Lynne. Washrooms/toilets clean, showers hot (turn bar not push button type). Great little shop, selling some essentials, sweets and ice cream for the children to spend their pennies on! Very child friendly with a play area, some bikes and safe to let the children 'explore'. My son (3yr old) had a great time 'exploring' with Geoff & Lynn's granddaughter.
Nice level large grass pitchers, with bushes dividing. Minimal road noise heard.
Number of other families there when I stayed, all very friendly and the site was quiet by 10 PM.
Keep up the fantastic work Geoof & Lynn. We look forward to a return visit.

I had to leave a review for here, Geoff and lynne are so lovely, friendly and they make this little campsite! Its only small, but never had to queue for the toilets or showers, which I may add are always spotless, smell lovely and the little extras (shower gel, toothbrushes, etc) are great with the honesty box! My 3 children loved the play area, and spent hours making friends and playing, the tuck shop is again great for the little ones to spend their pocket money on! Our car broke down and we had nightmare with our breakdown company, who left us over 12 hours, after we had packed up, but Geoff and a few of the other campers helped us with drinks and giving our children some tea, I truly will always be thankful for having this nightmare on this campsite, Geoff stored our trailer and helped us out and it was all no bother to him at all, I would recommend this site to anyone! So much do nearby, we had some lovely days out, and the little newsagents down in the village was handy! Little gem of a site, with even better Gem as the warden!

Just returned from a Easter weekend break at Robin Hood Retreat site and we had a fantastic time.
Location - loads of things to do near, cycling, walking, dog walking, loads of attractions (sherwood pines, Sherwood Forest, wheelgate park, white post farm and loads of outdoor pursuit places).
Main reason for writing review was the customer service. We are fairly new to caravan king and wanted to make our first attempt at putting up our awning, something we were dreading. On seeing us struggle Geoff spent a lot of time going through our instructions and helping my husband put it up - and I mean a lot of time a were pretty useless :) He went way beyond the call of duty and saved us from a big headache which was so appreciated. We also realised we had run out of toilet fluid so he gave us se until we could pop out to replace it. He was so kind and genuine, an absolute delight!
The site has a lovely little play area and is so safe for the children (of all ages) to play. There is a little sweet shop in reception which they love spending a few pennies on.
The pitches were a good size and nice and private. It was a lovely sheltered site. It has all the facilities you need and lovely clean toilets and showers.
Agree with other reviews that the access road was the only downside but as soon as you arrived (through a security gate) you forgot about it. Certainly don't let that put you off as this site is well worth a stay. We will certainly be returning (my 4 year old says it was his favourite site ever!)
