It was a pleasant site. Facilities were clean etc.
The only problem was they lock the gates at 10-45pm and one evening our friends went out in their camper van and couldn't get in when they arrived back although it wasn't time for the gates to be locked.
They rang the bell but no one came to their aid so they had to find somewhere to park for the evening!

Just had 4 days at robin hood retreat, what a gem of a site tucked away in the Nottinghamshire countryside. Not far from farnsfield and southwell or 10 miles from Mansfield.
The site is very well kept by Jeff and his wife and nothing is a problem. They have a small shop with a few bits you may need but shops in farnsfield are just a couple of miles away.
They have hard standing pitches and grass pitches overlooking a children's play area all surrounded by trees. Male and female toilets with hot showers kept well clean and with fresh flowers. The only thing why I wont give it 10/10 is because the long driveway could do with tarmacking or repairing other than that cant fault it a all and uncle Jeff welcomes you at the gate. Best site warden I've ever come across.
Will go back again soon.

We found this site by accident whilst looking for somewhere to store our new tourer. Having stored it here we decided to lose our caravanning virginity here and we're very glad we did!
We set up having never done so before and encountered numerous problems such as not knowing how anything in the van worked! The owners were exceptionally helpful as were some of the seasonal folk who erected our awning for us and even gave us some odds and sods we were missing!
The site itself is very remote and wouldn't suit all tastes but we love it because of that. It is very safe and off the beaten track. We found out too late on our last day that local takeaways deliver so will definitely try them next time.
The park is great for the kids, we have a nine year old, a seven year old and an 18 month old who are all desperate to go back and found plenty to amuse themselves, there is a tuck shop with penny sweets, drinks and ice cream at pocket money prices which they loved.
The toilet block was immaculate, I used the caravan shower but my wife tells me the on site shower was hot and very clean.
Plenty to do in the local area, sherwood pines, rufford, kelham hall, Newark, etc
I have only one negative which is that the road leading to the park is awful, single track, rough, I think only two passing places which could be fun!
Overall excellent, this has gone from somewhere for us to store our van to somewhere we hope to stay at often.

We picked this site for our first weekend away in a caravan. The wardens were incredibly helpful - even taking us to a local hardware store to buy a gas regulator when we found we'd got the wrong type - at 5:30 on a Saturday evening!
Facilities were excellent; always immaculate. Pitch was great; a peaceful location with ideal access to Rufford and Clumber parks.

We have just returned from spending New Year at Robins Hood Retreat
We were there with 6 other couples
We were all sited together and had the whole site to ourselves
The road up to the site is a little potholed but not as bad as some sites we have visited
The worst bit was the speed bumps in the industrial site area
Electronic barrier entrance gates leading to a lovely sheltered site
We were all on hardstanding which was of pea shingle
Ground not too hard but I would recommend rock pegs
(The pea shingle did get everywhere)
The elsan point is housed in a plastic shed which is great as nice and private
Washing up facilities, two taps and waste water disposal all very clean
Small children's play area
The warden Geoff and his wife Lynn were excellent, friendly without being intrusive.
Toilets were excellent always clean, showers were powerful and hot
Lovely touches in the loos with curtains, pictures and even a chandeleir in the mens
Site was incredibly peaceful no road noise or noise from the industrial site at the bottom of the hill
The site was so well sheltered that our awnings didn't shift even in the 70mph gust we has on the Monday
We will definitely return

We have just got back from an overnight stay here. It is fantastic the toilets were lovely an clean, as was the site itself. The playground was well maintained an good for kids up to the age of about 10. We took three 5 yr old girls and they loved it kept them occupied.
The warden was lovely very helpful. The road up to the site needs repairing but it's due to be done in October.
There is a lovely farm shop not far away which we went to and also Rufford is lovely.
Definitely going back to this site. It's brilliant

What a lovely site. As others have said do not be put off by the drive up to the site it really is worth it, you could be anywhere in the Country once you arrive there! Just returned after a one night stay with friends and family (they stayed two nights). The staff could not be more welcoming and helpful, as we were three families we asked if we could pitch together which was no problem. We were pitched directly opposite from the great play centre and playhouse which was ideal for us as we could sit and watch the children without worrying. We were also impressed when the warden asked parents to bring their children off the play centre at 10pm (our kids were off at 9pm in case you were wondering!), I think this is late enough for those people who are trying to settle down for the night, this is the only site I have known this happen on. The facilities are absolutely spotless and cleaned regularly. Security barrier on entry too. Great Chinese (who deliver to the campsite!) and chip shop not far from the site. We will certainly be back and all agreed as this campsite is only 50 minutes away from us it will be a regular haunt for those last minute trips when then weather is kind to us!

Had a great weekend visit at robin hood retreat and what a little gem of a site. We were meeting up with friends and the warden had no problem to arrange it for us to be next to each other. The facilities are very clean and the showers and toilets have fancy curtains to give it that extra special touch. There is a play hut and swings for the children. The village of bilsthorpe has shops for essentials and a chip shop and chinese which will deliver to the site. Its name says it all a great retreat. Will be returning and is recommended.

We recently visited this site and were a little curious when we were driving up the farm track to get to it, , but when we arrived we just could not be more pleased. It is a very well maintained site and we were given a warm welcome, the wash rooms are very clean and it is not too big or commercial.
It is very well named as it is a lovely relaxing quiet retreat. Very highly recommended and well located!

I have to give a 5 star rating for this campsite.
The facilities are superb with toilets showers in spotless toilet block and a pot wash.
The site is surrounded by tree has grassy areas and pots of beautiful flowers. There is a children's play house swings and slide.
The owners are very welcoming and helpful. There is a variety of birds and rabbits
Now my personal problem and this must be emphasised was the access to this site.
I was cycle camping and after going through the Belle Eau IND Park, the narrow, rough, grooved, pot holed, gravelly, concrete way up was a physical challenge with a cycle with two front and rear panniers and was extremely exhausting but I am 81.
Cyclists take note if you want this great camp site
