What a great site! The location was superb with splendid views out so sea from, I would guess, nearly all the pitches. The pitches themselves were large. We were on a grassy pitch with hook-up and had plenty of room for our small campervan and kids tent.
The whole site is on a slight slope, hence the wonderful views, so do come prepared.
Our two young boys loved the recreation field - plenty of room for a game of cricket despite the site being full. We also had a couple of lovely walks down to the coast from the site - plenty of well marked paths in the area.
The toilet block was very spacious and clean. Again, despite the site being full, I never had to queue for a shower in the morning.
The site shop was well stocked and reasonably priced for a camp site shop - fresh baked croissants for breakfast!
For us, in particular the boys, the main attraction of the area was the beach at Woolacombe Bay. It was about a 10 minute drive from the site, with plenty of parking.
We only had 4 nights here this time but are planning for 2 weeks next year!

Having read the reviews for this site, we were prepared for something extra-special.
We weren't disappointed!
The first thing we saw was the, literally, awesome view over the farmland and out to sea across to Wales - never have I seen such a view.
We had phoned to say what time we would be there, and made it just as they were cashing up. We were given a very warm welcome, and requested to 'pop up tomorrow' to pay.
The site is gently sloping, open, and yes, windy. It is also immaculately kept.
We were given our pitch on grass, and set up in a stiff breeze.
A visit to the toilet block (C&CC) we were amazed at the cleanliness and space. The showers were the best we've ever used - no push buttons, and the chance to control the temperature - mmmmm.
The washing up room was well equipped, with loads of hot water.
CDP was easy to use, and there is also a wet room for washing wetsuits.
There is a central area for ball games, and a separate area for kite flying. Numerous walks can be taken from the site over the cliffs.
Great fish and chips at Woolacombe.
We're already looking forward to a return.

Someday all caravan sites would be like this. Sadly thats only a dream. Shop is brill. All staff are ace, and the loos, are top drawer. Every pitch has a seaview and most are fairly level. The chipvan would do better by only ringing a bell. Likewise the seafood van. The campshop is better value for money than anywhere in Woolacoombe. And my wife never speaks to me when I take her home. We have been there twice now, and unfortunately now use it as a benchmark at which we rate all other sites. Its the first time we have ever been offered a drink while booking in and the only time. Full marks.

We've just returned from 11 nights at Damage Barton which was only our second ever caravanning outing since we converted from canvas to tin tops!
We had a wonderful time, we travel the world quite a bit due to our professions but both agreed this was our best holiday ever, this was fully endorsed by our 2 children aged 2 & 5.
We chose this site for the views and the reviews of the clean facilities. Both exceeded our expectation.
The toilets/showers were spacious, exceptionally clean and really good quality, we especially appreciated the family bathrooms for our 2 year old who is not keen on showers yet. We've camped a bit but I honestly do not know how you could improve on these facilities.
The pitches were very well kept, we had a hard standing pitch in the Camping and Caravanning Club section of the site, but it mattered not where you were as the sea view and beautiful sunsets across the water were for all to see.
The shop is excellent and the chap who runs it was extremely friendly and offered us some wonderful advice for our holiday almost on a daily basis. The £2.50 map he sold us of the immediate area for our planned walks was the best £2.50 we spent all holiday.
The walks are very well marked and once we got our 2 year old in the back pack we were rewarded with fabulous scenery on walks along the coastal path to small bays as well as the villages of Morthoe and Lee (Great pub at the latter) We also took a walk to Woolacombe.
We liked the site as we are not keen on the 'Holiday park' style sites with bars, swimming pools, shops and no doubt many other things I have not mentioned. For us we have to find a balance, yes we have 2 young children who need to be kept occupied but it's our holiday too and holiday parks are just not our thing. Perhaps the addition of a small play area with swings would be the icing on the cake for Damage Barton for us as a family but certainly no more than that as we feel the tranquillity and feel of the site maybe lost if they did. In truth we did so much every day away from the site that the kids did not miss this.
Would highly recommend the fish and chips from the visiting van, I think it comes on a Monday.
It can be breezy as other reviews have said but we were not concerned about that, the fabulous view meant more to us and it's not windy all the time. Plus if you go down to any of the beaches they are more sheltered anyway.
I would love this site to create a little play area for kids, few swings, climbing frames etc would go along way on the open ball games field they already have, but we had so much to do every day away from the site that we did not really miss this too much.
Full thumbs up to Damage Barton

I can recommend this site.
The views are spectacular - out to sea and across wonderful countryside.
If you are a dog owner there are some fabulous walks from this site.
The site is very exposed due to being high on the hill.
The shower facilities are excellent and very clean and it is nice to be able to set your own temperature.
The on site shop is well stocked with local produce.
I found the staff very friendly and helpful.
I would stay here again.
On site there isn't much for children to do.

What a fantastic site! My wife and I are trying to emulate the BBC programme 'Coast' by driving round the UK coastline. On our travels we have seen all sorts of sites, but this one has to be in our Top Ten so far! This is a sloping coastal site with terraces where most pitches have superb views over the Bristol Channel to South Wales and Lundy Island. All facilities are spotless and the staff are both friendly and helpful. Our pitch was a hardstanding which was perfectly level - even our old motorhome feels relaxed! Enjoy local walks in the farmland environment and into the village of Mortehoe which sports plenty of food outlets. May I recommend 'The Ship Aground' for an excellent pint and a great atmosphere? This site is close enough to convenient shopping (5.8 miles) but remote enough for you to relax and enjoy the surroundings.

This is an absolutely lovely site. Great location with ample sized pitches. Friendly and helpful staff and a wonderful shop with local and organic produce, including all the makings for a cream tea!
Plenty of good places to eat within easy walking distance. There's plenty of places to walk dogs and they are dog friendly.
There's even a kite flying field.

Every thing a camper could wish for has been thought of on this site. Good spacious pitches, a very friendly run and well stocked shop, superb showers(the best I have ever used), excellent and practical recycling and rubbish bay. As a motorhomer we used the bus service that has a stop right outside the camp. We would have liked more water points for emptying dirty water as the other option was unhitching the van and running it up to the one Motorvan emptying point. For all that though a thoroughly nice site - I wish I knew their secret for beautiful grass - the field put my lawn to shame! I loved the views and walks too.

All said before in previous reviews. Typical club site with excellent shower/toilet block.
Could do with some trees/hedges to break up open plan of site and take strength out of the wind, saw many awnings wrecked. Plenty of hardstandings and electric points but also some pitches without for those who do not need it. Great views of sea. Well stocked shop open from 8.30 to 6.00 with fresh baked bread etc.And not overly expensive.
Several good cliff top walks from the site. Nearest seaside at Woolacombe walkable from site, expensive parking, better to go to Ilfacombe and use park & ride, very cheap. Bus stop right outside site for those who would rather leave the car.
Staff very welcoming on arrival but lack the personal touch of normal club wardens as this site is privately owned.

We've just returned from a lovely holiday on this campsite. The pitch was level with the most beautiful view over the sea towards south wales. The showers were spacious, clean and warm! I liked the fact that you could control the temperature and move the shower head. As well as spacious showers the family rooms were good too, one has a bath the other a shower, no key's were needed for their use which I liked, something less to forget at shower time! There are electric sockets available in the shower block.
We were warned that the site could be windy however with a good tent, well errected and some storm pegs you'll be fine! There are tie down kits available in reception and they also print out a weather report every day.
The Tarka trail was perfect for us as our children are only 5 & 6 we prefer off road tails. We chose to drive to cycle trails as the closest trail to site is down a very narrow and windy road. However we cycled a good 30 miles with the children.
Most of the car parks in the area are pay and display, from 70p an hour, Wooolacombe beach is a rip off at £6, no matter what time you want to park!
The on site shop was fantasic! We had warm pan au chocolate most mornings, the children loved the walk up to the shop each morning to buy them. I have to say the shop was well stocked and very reasonable. Most of all the famiy who run the shop were the most lovely people! They were always genuinly inturested in our daily activities and gave helful information on the surounding area.
Plenty of local activities to keep the whole family entertained! The children loved meeting mist in a sheepdog and falconry show at bourough farm 6pm on a wednesday. We enjoyed walk from the site into Morthoe where there are a couple of nice pubs, great fish and chips and a heritage center.
There are trailer rides available from the heritage center in Morthoe to Bull point and the light house. The site also has a farm trip on a thursday morning.
Lovely friendly staff on reception, we'll definitely go back!
The only thing I can say caused us a problem was the toilets were a bit of a walk from the tent which was fine in the day but not so great at 3am lol!
