Large site, good facilities, excellent location, 5 minute walk to town centre, loads of places to eat, including chinese takeaway macdonalds fish and chip shop, pubs etc. Only stayed one night spoilt by horrendous rain! no digital tv signal could have been the weather.
We were on 14 night scottish tour and it served our purpose, due to weather we used this day as a rest day as we set ourselves a tiring schedule, only stepped out to get something to eat in the evening, weather doesn't usually stop us doing our thing, but this wasn't just a british summer shower this was 24 hours torrential rain, paid £6.00 for wifi connection and stayed in the dry.Would use again

Arrived early from down south, staff extremely unfriendly and unhelpful, felt that the staff had no trust in anyone. We stayed in a lodge which was very nice although overpriced. The only complaint would be that the bed springs stuck through mattress. Pictures misleading on website. Thought we where right on the loch (10 minutes walk) and in woods (actually in a very public area on the site). If you want something quiet than this is definitely for you. Given key for games room. Park gates locked each evening, so if you get back late have to leave car at reception. Games room is shut and locked at 11pm. Pool and table tennis available for a fee. TV room naff. Cannot swim in loch. OK as a base if you want to travel further afield during the day.

Just spent the weekend at the lovely Lomond Woods site. The staff were friendly and helpful when we arrived and took the time to explain the one way system in operation! The shop stocks essentials but there is a supermarket about a mile away for all other items you may need. Toilets and showers were immaculate nice and warm on a frosty night! A host of pubs and takeaways are available within walking distance in Balloch and the Lomond Shores shopping centre is also within walking distance. A very nice site and I'll certainly be returning soon!

Really good site for families as it felt safe and secure. The staff on the site were welcoming and could not be more helpful, they were always cleaning and the place was very clean, neat and tidy. As other comments the only downside were the showers, which only lasted for about 20 seconds before switching themselves off, but they were hot and as said clean and tidy.
The surrounding area is good as well, the sealife centre is great for children, and the Lomond Shore complex is a great place to wander and if you need any advice where to go both the tourist information office at Lomond shore or in Ballach itself are helpful and friendly.
I would also recommend a visit to Glasgow and to Luss village.
A good break which I would recommend.

Stayed here for two nights whilst touring west Scotland. The site is well set out and the pitches are a good size, with enough space between to have a bit of privacy.Although our party was just adults it was clear to see that the facilities for ch were well thought out with a good sized play park area which was always busy. However the fact this was situated right next to the shower block seemed to encourage the children to use the toilets as a playground too. There is also a games room and TV room which you can access using your shower key.The reception area does have a few shelves with bits and bobs but doesn't sell much.Balloch is close enough to get anything you might need however and near the entrance to the site there is a great Chinese restaurant and a burger bar at the roundabout - a 200 yard walk. The shower block was generally clean but a bit dated and quite busy so although there were some cubicles with showers and sinks these seemed to always be in demand.
The staff were genearlly friendly and provided a map of the camp and explained the areas on arrival. We were surprised however when told that because we were towing a trailer with a motorbike on the back of our small camper we had to pay an extra £5 per night to store the trailer. Which basically meant leaving it outside reception unsecured rather than on our pitch which was ample size to store it.So be sure to ask about any extra costs when booking as this was a bit of a surprise, not mentioned on the website or the phone booking.
We would recommend this site. It was well organised, generally clean and tidy and situated well to explore the Lochs and surrounding areas.

We called Lomond Woods in desperation as Mike was being eaten alive by the midges on the site we had booked at Ardgarten - and they kindly fitted us in for 7 nights. We were extremely grateful.
We know this area as I was born only about 10 miles away and used it as a base to visit relatives. Having said that, we always take the opportunity to walk in the local area with the dog in Balloch Park which gives stunning views of the Loch and you can get to the shore very easily. Normally we go to the Duck Bay Marina on the west shore for a meal but didn't have time this year. It is definitely worth a visit and looks good after the makeover due to flooding the previous year. The west shore is where you get a good view of Ben Lomond.
The site is right next door to Lomond Shores which has a few shops, and an information centre. There is a Chinese takeaway right outside the gate and the food was delicious. McDonalds is next door to the Chinese.
The toilets were really good - hot water with strong pressure and a real folding shower door so the towels/clothes didn't get wet. Only downside was that the water was on a press button set-up. Bit of a drag when washing your hair and you can't find the button. What shorter people do I really don't know as it is set about 6ft up.
It is very busy and not cheap at £18 a night - but we did get one free as we booked 7 nights. There were lots of continental visitors who all said it was far too expensive to come again.
If we do take the van north again (diesel prices permitting) then we will definitely go back to this site.

Having read some of the previous reviews we booked in advance for a couple of nights stay and were glad we did, this is a large and busy site. Fees are a little higher than most other sites and they charged a booking fee for advance reservations. It’s ideal for families with children and well sited for visiting the Loch Lomond visitor centre just a few minutes walk away.
The facilities generally are good, although the ageing showers proved a challenge in terms of keeping them running while using them, and the sewer waste disposal point being enclosed could perhaps use an air freshener. Balloch is fifteen minutes walk away and has a few interesting pubs etc, but fuel up before you get here, we couldn’t find a local service station in the town. The Cawley Hotels Duck Bay restaurant is well worth a visit, it’s about a mile north on the shores of Loch Lomond and the food was very good as were the views over the Loch. Overall, a good place to stay for getting out and about locally.

Used this site as a stop off on the way back South from the Outer Hebrides. Very helpful on the phone when enquiring and good welcome on arrival. Very handy for the nearby shops/eateries etc.
Only one fault is that the chemical disposal is enclosed and there was no way to fasten/prop the door open and no extractor fan which was not pleasant when emptying the loo - so take your air freshener with you if someone has been in there before you. Otherwise very nice site,
Would stay again.

I'd like to echo the previous comments on here and have nothing further to add. Balloch is also well served with an excellent rail service to/from Glasgow, handy when the weather is terrible.
A really nice site. Two, very minor negatives for us: (1) there is a stream running through the middle of the site which has high, steep banks. This meant we couldn't take our eyes off our toddler for an instant. (2) Although there are two baths for children, these are in the ladies block and necessitated my wife having to accompany me to bath our son

Enjoyed our 3 night stay at Lomond Woods, although let down by the wet weather. Our pitch backed on to the main road, but it wasn't a problem during the night. The site has a small shop area which sells basic camping accesories but does not stock food items other than sweets and fizzy drinks. Reception staff very helpful and we got some great discount rates from them for local attractions; aquarium, safari park etc. Impressed by the many different combinations of showering facilities. Selection of baths, showers, wash basins, toilets all in own cubicles.Although maybe some could do with updating. Short walk into Balloch were there is a wide variety of take aways, restaurants etc. Good site, hope to visit again.
