 Excellent Campsite.

Really clean pitches, spacious pitches too.

Really good clean washing facilities and are clean all the time day and night.

The campsite is close to Lanberis which has Electric mountain and much more.

Owners are really friendly.

I would definitely use this campsite again and definitely recommend.

You cannot go wrong staying here, the site is beautiful clean, pretty and in a lovely location.

My husband and I stayed in September with our little black poodle cross dog. It is perfect across the board, tent, static, caravan or motorhome. The owner Emrys and his wife are lovely people and very down to earth. The dog walking field is fantastic the best I have ever seen, large safe and with the added interest of a safe fenced off area at the end for the chickens, (my dog couldn't wait to go and see them she loved them and sat mesmerized as she had never seen them before lol). Free range eggs, and a lovely quaint bakery outside the gate, not good if you are trying to watch your weight. You will need leveling blocks here though, we didn't have any so Emrys lent some to us to use. Very helpful. Very clean toilets and showers. This site and its owners should be very proud of what they have achieved, its like a little bit of peace and tranquility in a mad world. This site will certainly become one of our regular trips away, looking forward to it opening at Easter so we can book again.

This is a great site as stated by other reviewers. Excellent throughout the site with Emrys, the owner extremely helpful on all aspects of our visit. Good bus route to Llanberis and Caernarfon within 5 minute walk and local shops easy 15 minute walk. If you like to park up your motorhome and see the local area without moving it then this is the site for you.

We have just returned from two nights at this lovely, peaceful site. We only found it by chance and intended staying one night only but extended it to two as we did not think we could get much better. The facilities are top notch, newly refurbished toilet and shower blocks, spotlessly clean! Washing up and launderette facilities, dog walk area and disabled facilities. The owner could not have been more helpful or friendly. We did have to wait a few hours to buy eggs from him as they were still in production (you can't get fresher than that!).

The bakery opposite is brilliant- good job we didn't stay longer (what diet!)

Very well situated site for lots of local attractions.

When we return to the area I would not hesitate to revisit.

I will miss our little chats! if your visiting Llanberis this is the site to stay at! this was our second trip camping and we will be visiting Llys Derwen again soon. Peter Bridge (Kent)

Recently returned home after 9 days at Llys Derwen camp site. After 39 years of caravanning this was the friendliest site we have ever been on. It was also very clean and the shower and toilet blocks were immaculate. The owner was so helpful and friendly nothing was too much trouble. One must visit the little bakery across the road, the best pasties, sausage rolls and scones we have tasted for many years. The site owner recommended the butcher in Llanrug, just wish he was in our village. Llys Derwen is so conveniently situated for a great number of places to visit and things to see and do - especialy the stean trains and the slate museum at Llanberis.

The pub (150yds away) provided us with some of the best meals we have ever had on holidays so we will definitely return.

We chose this site after reading the good reviews on this website, and from having a good review in our AA campsite guide, and we weren`t disappointed. It is well situated for exploring North Wales, and Anglesey and not far from Caernarfon for getting supplies from the Supermarkets there, we thoroughly enjoyed our 8 days, only one wet one! We also tried the little Bakery across the road and it was very good. The owner of the campsite was very friendly and helpful, giving advise on places to visit and walk with our dog, which there was an ample exercise area for, with lovely views of Snowdonia.

The facilities were ample and clean, the showers were free and very good, and although there was only 4 in total, we didn`t have a problem with availability, even when the site was quite busy. Everything was very well kept and clean. There was also a freezer to freeze our ice blocks free of charge.

We would not hesitate to use the site again if visiting this lovely area. Thank you very much.

My Wife and I have just spent the weekend at Llys Derwen Camping and Caravan Site. Site facilities were second to none; excellent toilet blocks which have been recently refurbished, laundrette room and disabled facilities, all of which were immaculate. We were welcomed by the site owners on our arrival who took time to inform of the family run bakery across the road and the local pub (Glyntwrog) which serves superb food. The site owner showed us to our pitch and took us for a site tour. He has chickens on site and sells fresh eggs every morning along with the option of a newspaper, all of which was delivered at our tent.

For our duration of the stay the site was extremely quiet and you could see there were several regular campers/caravaners who were strong advocates of the Llys Derwen Site.

We have been to several camping/caravan sites throughout North Wales and this had to be our favourite. We felt welcomed and well informed by the site owners to thoroughly enjoy the site and surrounding area. The site is less than a 5min drive to Snowdon and Caernarfon and only about 10mins to Bangor so is an ideal central location.

I would recommend this site to anyone. The owner you are a Wealth of information and thank you for making our stay a great memory of North Wales.

Just returned today from a fabulous week away at this site with extended family over three generations in 2 touring caravans.

It is a great site, small, peaceful and the owner works hard to keep it just so with constantly cleaned toilets/showers and mowed grass whilst remaining pretty easy going about where and how you pitch up. Owner is friendly and helpful and has a good presence on the site giving a personal touch feel to things. Happy to offer suggestions on what to do and where to go.

Consists of three small fields- 2 a mix of tents and caravans and the third non electric mainly tents. There is also a play/ dog walking field and a chicken coup with chicks! There is no park for the kids but the play field and plenty of space kept them occupied!

Well located to explore the surrounding area ( llanberis and snowdon approximately 3 miles and Caernarfon / coast approx 3 miles the other way) we also visited Llandudno, Conway and beddgelert as well as climbing snowdon with the children. Also went to zip world- fabulous experience but not for the faint hearted!

There is a small bakery near the site ( turn right at the site entrance and it's the first house on the left) not well signposted, easily accessed on foot and once you discover it you will pay them a visit daily!

A few small negatives- but none a major deal:

Only small toilet/ shower block servicing the whole site which only became an issue over the bank holiday weekend and at peak morning time.

Some pitches are on a slope so be prepared to block up- plenty about to do so.

Little bit disappointed by immediate llanrug village area with limited amenities- we tended to go into Caernarfon when needed ( tesco, morrisons, chippy, pubs). Crabbing by the castle a must.

The quiet lane the site is off does become a bit busy during peak times- I think it's used as a cut through?

That said we would definitely return and definitely recommend this site to friends. If you want something commercialised this is not for you but if you want a lovely spot in a beautiful area with amenities only a short drive away then pay them a visit and you won't be disappointed.

I hope you have a nice time like we did ( children aged 11, 10 and 8yrs)

I chose to stay at this site as a result of reading the many positive reviews on this website. Arrived 16/05/14 and stayed 2 nights. The site was easy to find nestled away in the picturesque countryside but not far at all from ample and apt local amenities.

Upon arrival, the site was attractive, well maintained and subsequently inviting. The set-up is perfect with a pleasant layout with the benefit of pristinely clean and modern toilet/shower facilities (with ample HOT water).

The owner can not do enough for his customers. After showing us to our pitch, he talked us through what was in the village and where i. E shops, pubs, restaurants and takeaways etc. He recommended that we visit the bakery opposite the site to which we did and purchased a number of delicious reasonably priced savoury snacks and small cakes. He also recommended to us a walking trek up over the hill near the site taking you down the other side into Llanberis and back along the main road and home to the site (around 6/7 miles long) - the view from the top was immense providing views over Llyn Brynteg, Llyn Padarn and Llyn Peris as well as unbeatable views of the impressive Snowdon range.

Overall a perfect site to enjoy a peaceful and relaxing time away with the magnificent snowdonia park within a stone throw. Truly beautiful and well worth a visit.
