Amazing location, stunning landscape, really blessed to be a matter of footsteps away from the beach and the breathtaking dunes.

The bathrooms are possibly the best and cleanest I've seen at a campsite.

Recycling and refuse was a bit challenging as bins were often full. Also even just 2-3 more dog poo bins would make a big difference. My main suggestion would be that it should be made clearer about the weather (esp the wind). We got quite a shock - although I appreciate we could have checked the weather forecast more closely - but I know of a couple of other campers who left early because they couldn't cope with the wind.

If people expect the inclement weather they can come better prepared. We didn't feel able to cook at our tent in the weather. Maybe some guidance on which pitches have better shelter vs view etc.

Having said that, we stuck it out and made the best of it, and had an unforgettable experience.

We'll definitely come back - except maybe in a motorhome next time! ;-)

Very relaxed informal campsite next to a beautiful beach. Very nice being able to choose our own pitch from what was available. Good cafe/restaurant on site which also does takeout food.

Large, modern toilet blocks which were always very clean.

Our only issue was that one of our party was disabled, and toilet/showers didn’t all cater for this. There was one block which had a disabled facility, but unless you were pitched right next to it it was just too far away.

All of the blocks had space for a disabled toilet/shower with handrails, a seat to enable dressing easier, so I think one in each block would be reasonable. We just presumed each block would have a disabled loo/shower, and we weren’t informed otherwise when checking in.

Overall a lovely site, just be aware if you need disabled facilities to ask which block they are in

 Great campsite

Fantastic location

Spotlessly clean facilities

Lovely breakfast in the barn and we love the fact you can pick your own pitch

Has a less regimented feel to many other sites

This a a grest campsite in a great location. It is large with three facilities blocks. You pick your own pitch which is grand but always causes arguments for us!

We found a nice flat sheltered spot near facilities and we were lucky with nice weather. Glad we had two nights. Facilities kept clean and they were new and spacious.

Laundry room was great with industrial machines. Shop is fantastic and sells anything pretty much. The cafe was also very good and we had a take away lunch one day and sat in for coffee another day.

There is a specific dog walking area but it was too far from our pitch but if you are up nearer the reception it is handy.

Good play area for all ages of kids. Definitely worth a visit. Staff we were all really nice and friendly.

We made a spontaneous decision to take our tent up to Gairloch while the weather was sunny and discovered the wonderful Sands Campsite! We found a beautiful pitch, nestled in the dunes, with unrestricted views over the water and direct access to the beach.

The facilities, showers, toilets, communal kitchen were modern and extremely clean, with plenty of hot water at all times.

We treated ourselves to a meal at the on-site, ' Barn ' restaurant which was absolutely delicious and the service was warm and friendly. The next night we ordered take away from the same place and enjoyed eating outside, overlooking the water.

Although, we didn't have children with us, it was great to see so many happy kids enjoying the park and natural surroundings. This is a site with a good mix of age groups, who seemed to be having fun while respecting others.

Really could not suggest anything that would have improved our experience! Already looking forward to a return visit!

Huge site with the freedom to choose your own pitch. We didn't use the cafe but you could eat in or takeaway. Very reasonable priced shop.

Great walks to a beach and lots of tracks for walkers to explore.

We would stay here again.

Facilities were top notch that catered for families. Even had a bath.

Only downside was the outdoor washing up area which could of been cleaner and needs updating.

The site is really large and spacious with a mixture of touring, statics, tents and cottages.

Really nice facilities although a couple of times the shower water was cold.

Easy access to a nice sandy beach with great views of Torridon mountains, Skye and out to Harris.

Non EHU pitches are essentially find a free spot. Annoyingly, this means some people park a little close for my liking.

Site rules state that dogs should be on a lead at all times. This was not adhered to by other dog owners and meant our dog was getting agitated by dogs on the loose.

There’s an on site bar and cafe which we didn’t use but looked good.

And the on site shop seemed to sell more provisions than the local stores in Gairloch, which is very convenient if you don’t want to head into the village.

 Wow, what a site.

You can pitch virtually anywhere you like, so you feel nice and remote but still have electric hookup.

The views are fantastic. The shop has everything that you could ever need, especially a very impressive large selection of herbal teas.

The on site restaurant also does takeaway.

We had some lovely chats with the warden who was really interesting & informative about the site & area.

We'll definitely be back! 5 star !

We were disappointed by this well-known and very widely advertised site, so much so that we cut short our stay despite having paid for more nights.

It is huge, and we didn't like the 'find your own pitch but be prepared to lose it if you leave the site' system.

The site seems to be a quite chaotic mixture of grassy areas, hardstandings, with or without electricity, all mixed higgledy-piggledy with one another.

If you are a new arrival, possibly tired after your journey, the last thing you want is to drive around grassy dunes looking for a suitable location.

The shower/ toilet/ dishwashing block near our pitch looked awfully tired and ugly outside, but was surprisingly nice and upgraded, and spacious, inside, with under-floor heating.

There are some nice walks to be done directly from the site, but instead of making leaflets or a booklet available the rather grumpy receptionist directed me to take photos of the walks which were pinned to their wall, not what I wanted in order to decide where to walk. (I should say here that the other receptionist we encountered was friendly and helpful though).

The views from the site are brilliant, with mountainous Harris and flat Lewis, as well as beautiful Skye, the highlights.

My impression here was that the site is a major stopping point for NC 500-ers, who mostly only stay for one night and seem to be undemanding.

The site must make enough money from them not to have to bother to make themselves more attractive to people wanting to stay for a bit longer.

The best campsite we stayed at during our week travelling the North coast 500!

The shower block was immaculate, beautiful location and everything we needed on our doorstep.

Would recommend to anyone.
