Literally in the door from a 10 day break at this fantastic site.
Our party of 5 adults,6 kids and 4 dogs had a great time, and as a bonus the first 5 days were baking hot.A very spacious site with ample room for tents, caravans & motor homes, just off a lovely beach with a great view across to Skye.
There was a small problem when we first arrived getting 2 electric hook ups together which we had requested when we booked, but this was quicky and efficiently sorted for us - staff were first class.
If you can pop into the Millcroft Hotel in Gairloch - excellent bar lunches at a very reasonable price.
All in all a great holiday at a great site, which I will return to in the future.

Just returned from this site in a mixed bag of weather. My kids loved it's location next to a brilliant beach. Views out to the Isle of Skye and over to Harris.
Pitches laid out on the croft, by clever mowing of the flatter areas to form small groups / single pitches with roads and paths running between. It makes for a less cluttered atmosphere and provides a bit of privacy.
Toilet block clean, although shut for an hour a day for this, which meant a longer walk to the next block but great facilities, although hot water could be too hot at times!
There was also a room for cooking, eating and dishwashing which was fantastic in the cold wet windy weather. You can also recharge phones etc here (or in the kids cases Nintendo DS's!)
The kids also loved the playpark with the Flying Fox.
Site shop reasonably priced, managed to find lemon cookies in there which I had as a child and have loved, but have not been able to find since.
We nipped into Gairloch one night for a fish supper but at 8.20pm were too late, the shop closed at 8pm! Next day went for a wander there, visiting the Mountain book shop which, for a small villlage, has a great selection. It had been a few years since I was last in Gairloch but the character has not changed too much (although didn't see any shops selling knitting wool any longer which they used to have there!)
Remember a dustpan and brush as the sand is fine and sticks to everything and the tent floor does need it when you have youngsters.
I will definitely be back to this site.

What a great site. We normally camp wild with a portaloo at another beach in Wester Ross so this was luxurious for us with 3 toilet blocks, showers, electric hook ups for tents, washing up area, sheltered washing up and cooking area with hob, fridge and freezer. There was even a big sink for bathing toddlers in and a family wet room with Mira shower and toilet and a similar disabled wash room. Water was always warm and showers free and clean. Good laundrette with spinner if you didn't want to use the tumble dryers. The shop was good and opening hours excellent (not many shops are open in this area on a Sunday!) They stocked everything you could want including camping gear and the freshly baked bread and croissants etc in the morning was a nice touch. The staff were very friendly too. The campsite is big and well spread out amongst the dunes and there are no real rules apart from having to pitch at least 20ft from your neighbour so not cramped in. Just over the dunes is a beautiful beach with views to the Isle of Skye. The kids loved the park with the flying fox and the area is very friendly and safe - the kids played until 11pm at the park! Dogs and kids under 5 are free but dogs must be kept on a lead. We enjoyed watching the sheep being sheered behind the shop and the TV room meant I could sneak off and watch the big brother eviction! Just a bit further along the road from the campsite there is a small village called Melvaig (not Mallaig as in previous review!) and a bit further on is Rua Reidh lighthouse which is worth a visit. We also enjoyed walking up to Flowerdale Waterfall. You can do as much or as little as you like in this area and we enjoyed a relaxing break. Fresh fish and seafood sold on the pier every day and I enjoyed my Scallops on the BBQ which had been hand dived an hour before. There's also a little river running through the site and the kids caught tadpoles - we also saw a seal and Minke Whale!

We have just come back from 2 weeks at this site staying in a large wigwam.
This site is beautiful as it is right on the beach overlooking Longa Island and Skye behind it. The wigwam was great, with electricity and proper beds (we needed a bit of luxury as am six months pregnant). The toilets were always immaculate but cold although the showers were really nice and warm. I think there is a heated shower block but am guessing it was over by the caravans. There is a washing up area with fridges, freezer and and an electric hob (£1 for 20 mins I think).
The shop was well stocked but not great opening hours. We found a great pub up the road in Malaig (out of campsite and turn left) where we could take our dog (the food was great & owners really friendly) and there was also a dog-friendly pub in Badachro overlooking the harbour(south of Gairloch) which served nice looking food (we only had a drink in this one). Overall fantastic site on lovely beach

We absolutely LOVED this site!
Friendly people, clean and tidy site. The toilet/shower block that was closest to us was just re-furbished, so was warm, fresh clean and modern. The showers cubicles are spacious, with the showers being hot! (Great!)
The shop was excellent.Well stocked with every day items. And the fresh bread every morning?! Fantastic! I think we bought a warm loaf and pastries every day! (We were on holiday!)
There was a group of us here at the same time.2 caravans, both with awnings and a tent. We were basically told to pitch up wherever we liked! So we were all close together. Picnic tables scattered around the site for anyone to use too.
Laundry facilities reasonably priced and I did washing before going home.
Games room on site, basic but good for the variety of the site!
Definitely be back this year!

Stayed in a wigwam for the 2nd time and the heater was great even in August! Had a wee fridge in previous wigwams elsewhere which would have been good but toilets were clean and it was a lovely location - perfect! Staff were friendly and I would highly recommend this site. The beach is well worth it and we would visit again if in the area.

What can I say! This is a fantastic site in a great location. Feels very informal as the pitches are not set out in lines like other regimented campsites. You are free to choose your own pitch in amongst the dunes so you can opt to isolate yourself or be in a more crowded area. Even in a crowded area the owners insist that you must leave at least 7m between pitches. The shop is really well stocked and for Highland Scotland, very reasonable. Our two kids loved the park which is located in the middle of the site. The toilets were immaculate and the even have a huge sink that you can use to wash babies and toddlers in. A hit with my 2 yr old. Staff are really friendly. I would give it five stars any day!

Plenty of places to pitch up. We drove right to the end of the site, right near the slipway to the beach. We went to sleep to the sound of the waves and woke up early to them. It's light until very late and it's still very light early in the morning. Which was great because it meant we woke up quite early and felt quite refreshed (",) The beach at night and early in the morning had lots of jelly fish about and by night the scottish mosquittos were lethal! My partner got bitten really bad by them and midges so make sure you take really strong mosquitto/midge repellent spray and the mosquitto coil. Loved Scotland and in particular Glen Affric and would definitely go again but would make sure we had really strong mosquitto spray (",) before we go again.

A group of us (Two caravans, a tent and our little 73 VW Camper) visited this site during our tour of Scotland. The campsite staff were very welcoming and had a relaxed attitude. The shop is very well stocked with both provisions and camping equipment. It is a large rambling site in the most amazingly, beautiful place. You don't have allocated a spaces. You can camp where you like - even in the dunes right on the beach. The beach is absolutely fantastic- a large, sandy bay that is private to the campsite. Although it rained a lot when we were there we did enjoy our stay. We still managed a great late night BBQ. If it was sunny I imagine that this place would be heavenly! The toilet facilities were plentiful and clean although somewhat basic looking. The laundry was well equipped with several washers and dryers and irons. Gairloch is a lovely village and several boats trips leave from the harbour. Some of our group went evening sea fishing and brought back fish for the BBQ - fantastic! My favourite place is the Trading Post bookshop (sells all sorts but especially travel books) and the adjoining coffee shop which sells the biggest chocolate fudge cake ever seen! Enjoy

Our family have visited this site over many years and made many friends. The site is spread over many acres with no identified pitches. You park where you like as long as it is not to close to your neighbour. It is a family owned site, well maintained and has a well stocked shop on site. The site also has plenty of hook ups. Showers are free and spotlessly clean. The scenery is spectacular looking across to Sky and the outer hebrides. The village of Strath and Gairloch is only 4 miles drive where there are eating places, shops and things to do. The air is great being on the Gulf Stream. The sea is crystal clear, safe for kids and ideal for having fun on clean beaches. Visit once and you will go back again and again.
