We visited this site for a weekend in May. It was busy and we found a pitch in the back field, which was uneven and covered in sheep droppings.
There seems a strange practice of locking the dirty toilets at night but worst of all is the madness which ensues after dark. All night a 30 something couple from Merseyside were screaming at one another. The owner had a word the following afternoon, by which time it was too little, too late.

Just come back from Abbey farm after a weekend stay. The campsite was pleasant, the surrounding views are absolutely breathtaking. The site is ideal for families with young children as there are a few tree swings and lots of trees to climb.
The campsite is a bit on the lively side. The toilet facilities are on the poor side consisting of 3 toilets & 2 showers that is the only thing the campsite lacks decent toilet facilities but I would highly recommend it. The site has a nice shop on site which stocks some lovely meat ideal for BBQ's & a Tearoom which serves breakfasts & lunches oh and of course the abbey which you can walk around.

I visited this site way back in 1982 and due to work etc have not visited again until 2008. The site itself where it is situated is fantastic super views etc but their is a lack of control with the gangs of lads and girls, noise, dogs not on leads. Llangollan as an area is beautiful

This site really needs to re-vamp its toilet and shower facilities. We went for the weekend and the site was full. Not sure about the caravan field but there were 2 fields full of campers sharing one toilet / shower block. Ladies had 3 toilets and 2 showers and they weren't clean. These were also locked up at night and you had to use facilities out of the dark ages (in fact I remember them from 30 years ago when we used to go camping with our parents and visited the same site).
Other than that the site is fine, good facilities in the shop and cafe. Just watch out for the damp cow pats !

Just got back from here.
Good points are absolutely beautiful surroundings, plenty to do river, pub, abbey remains, children's park, Toilets and showers were fine lovely entrance to site etc.The site is absolutely perfect BUT and a big BUT for one thing:-
Bad point
The site allowed gangs of lads on here. We were with two other families and all have small children. The kids were all awoken and my sister went over to them and asked politely for them to respect us all and quieten down a bit. They did for about 3minutes then got worse. Site owners please please please sort this out or your beautiful site will be ruined and you will have no decent customers, just all bladdered lads with no respect destroying everything.
We are no squares and we like to have a good drink and a laugh but swearing shouting and screaming all night when children are about is stupid!

The showers were hot and were a little small but did the job, wasn't impressed with the toilets closing at night, not with little ones anyway,
I loved the location, we had some lovely walks and the little stream was great fun for the kids, Just a shame the site lets any old rif raf come in. The onsite cafe was nice, expensive but tasty, the little shop is ideal for the little things you forget,
I will go back to the site but I will not be staying on a weekend

Having stopped at this site before we already knew about it's stunning location, nestled in a valley right next to a ruined abbey. I had never stayed here at the weekend though so I was in for a shock.
The staff always seem friendly and helpful
The toilet and shower blocks are just about adequate, but could do with a clean more than once a day. A sign stating that the loos would be closed overnight due to vandalism didn't bode too well either.
The big problem with this site though is the rowdy groups and families who seem to invade the site at weekends. We were even disturbed by a couple who turned up at 1am and started putting their tent up by the light of their headlights, shouting and swearing at each other in the process. They then hurriedly packed up in the morning and left without paying! All this site needs is for the gate to be locked at 11pm and a bit of security at night to stop this happening and spoiling an otherwise lovely spot.
This site is ideal in the week when it's quiet

Read all the reviews on this camp site beforehand,What can I say the campsite was brilliant, the area this campsite / caravan park is in is fantastic.
I also agree about the on site cafe, the breakfast was the BEST we have had for ages, the staff were nice and gave good tips on where to go at night if thats your thing
On site the toilet block does shut at 9:30 but you can use the other toilets.Get to the showers early if you can,if not leave it till later as they can be busy and they only have 3 but they do have a hairdryer!and they are warm
Will definatly be going back as soon as we can

We visited this site from the Thursday before until the Monday of bank holiday weekend (not always the best time to judge a site). Our pitch was booked in advance and a hook up requested, we used our awning. On arrival we were told that a hardstanding was not available and that we should choose a site on a 100ft x 50ft field. Eventually we decided on a site at the maximum limit of our electric cable which later was under someone elses awning. From Friday onwards caravans (with awnings) and cars were crammed in around us the front door of one awning was less than a metre from the side of our van. The site was filled up with 'loud' groups (some in statics) who sat up drinking until the early hours.
The showers and toilet facilities were adequate but with the numbers crammed in they became dirty as soon as they were cleaned. This site is the beautiful Dee valley with good walking and cycling on the doorstep, the site is next to the old Vale Crucis Abbey. The local pub 1/2 mile away serves reasonable pub food, and the town of Llagollen which is expensive for tourists but provides everything you could need.
The site accomodates statics, tourers and tents. I am sure that during the week this would be a good site but stay clear weekends and bank holidays unless you like disorganised chaos.

Fantastic time had new shower block is great small but clean also the cafe breakfasts are definitely the best in the uk,definitely worth a visit the views are just stunning.
The only downfall is they do tend to let groups on who do ruin it for familys we had a 3 year old and pitched next to us was a group of 6 lads
