This is the first time I've written a review, usually I let things pass but felt potential users of this site should be made aware, especially 'small families' which according to the site rules are the only groups allowed on site.
Firstly, the site itself is very pretty and lovely surroundings. I did feel facilities were a little poor considering the cost per night, but we're not a fussy family, we tend to get on with enjoying our break.
For the first time, I couldn't wait to go home. Now, my complaint is not with the group of teenage lads who were shouting, swearing and playing rave music till about 4am on our first night (it was just unfortunate we were staying the same time as them). The following day after some drunk fell into our tent, upsetting my children I decided enough was enough. I spoke to the office, who were aware of the situation and said 'it's ok they are going home on Sunday, ' today was Friday! I had not been the first to complain, but they could not drive home and their parents couldn't collect them till Sunday! He insisted that there would be no noise the following evening. It was worse.
If you are lucky and have a good crowd of visitors around you it would be worth a visit

Decided to stay here as it looked rather good on the website.
Location is fantastic, nice walk into Llangollen, great scenery and the Abbey ruins are great at night! lol
Excellent farm shop which sells fresh meat and other bits and bobs.
Pitched up on a great location near the shower blocks next to the river. Seemed quiet and a good area to be in. Well we were wrong! Young groups of lads drinking until the stupid hours of the morning keeping everyone awake. Though I found it strange when I rang to book a pitch that they asked if we were a single sex group!
The toilets and shower blocks didn't look like they had been cleaned for months,
If you are staying for one night and don't need a shower then it's a great place to be.
This place could be so much better - all it takes is a bit of cleaning and the rule of no single sex groups onto the site!

Expensive, especially considering the state of the toilet/shower block - which is locked at night! There was a Festival of Litter being held there too by the looks of things.
Beautiful setting very near the abbey and river. Good site shop, but way too dirty. Also sounded noisy late at night on the other side of the site.

We had visited this site last year in a trailer tent. We were the only unit on site that time and had a wonderful stay, reasonable shop on site and clean adequate facilities.
This visit we arrived on bank-holiday Monday. On arrival, we found the WC block was unclean and one of the two gents toilets was blocked, but guessed that it was the result of a long weekend.
The site was obviously a little more crowded this time but there was still plenty of space to select a decent pitch.
We had a good stay, but the WC and shower block was not cleaned at all for our 2-night stay, very disappointing. We also had problems of loud music from idiots in a nearby tent, which we reported to the site manager the following day. He said they would divert complaint calls to his mobile in future to investigate issues quickly. The staff seemed genuinely concerned and apologetic.

Just returned from a 3 day stay at the abbey.
Surroundings and position of site is good.
Unfortunately the showers (ie.Lack of flow of water) and washing sinks are very poor! I think it would be fair to say the shower facilities needs updating a bit. There seemed no policing on the site to stop the 10 pm noise restriction time. Apart from that shop is well stocked and a smashing little cafe on site.

I visit this site quite a lot throughout the year, every year , and always find the site, clean and tidy.
The shop is well stocked, the cafe provides lovely food, the children's swing and play area is ideal for little ones, in fact it is set in a lovely area where you can picnic and watch the children play.
The owners and staff are friendly and helpful.
The short walk along the canal into Llangollen is lovely, Llangollen itsef provides lovely
Shops and pubs,
Abbey Farm is one of the nicest sites I have ever stayed on, the surroundings are magnificent.
As the site is at the foot of the horseshoe it is well worth a visit to the pondarosa a very popular stopping place for Bikers

In a word: Fantastic.
My partner and I enjoyed a week of uninterrupted bliss in this stunning location. The abbey is an absolutely beautiful building and it felt like a real privilege to stay in its grounds. The staff are friendly and helpful and I would highly recommend the tea rooms where we had a delicious breakfast! The countryside is perfect for walkers, and Llangollen is a short walk away along the pretty canal.
The facilities were clean and there was plenty of hot water. Having read the other reviews I can appreciate that the size of the facilities might not cater for large groups in the summer months, but we had the campsite pretty much to ourselves and everything was clean and tidy. Camp fires aren't allowed but BBQs are if they're raised off the ground ~(we bought a couple of disposable ones and found some breeze blocks - I'd highly recommend the lamb and mint sausages from the main butcher's in Llangollen!)
There are two pubs nearby, and as an ale drinker I was slightly disappointed byt the range of local drinks, but there are probably more places in and around Llangollen that we didn't try. The food at The Britannia Inn was very tasty, but it does stop serving lunch at 2.30pm and closes for the afternoon at about 3pm, so walkers, beware! The next pub (sorry, can't remember the name - it's The Abbey something-or-other) also does pretty good food but it was fairly quiet. Again, we were there out of season so it might be quite different in the Summer.
All in all, a fantastic week. Finally, there's a lovely shop in Llangollen called 'Honey Pots' where one can paint pottery for a small fee, and it's glazed and fired and available for collection in a couple of days. We really enjoyed doing this. We'll be back again soon!

The first alarm bells should have been on arrival when we were told they lock one toilet block over night as it has been vandalised in the past. We did actually go to complain about the state of the toilets and we were met by a rather defensive owner on the desk. Apparently staff hadn’t turned in over the weekend, and he was on his own. He swore that the he had been to clean the toilet blocks twice that day. And yes you could tell the showers had been hosed down, but the same clumps of hair and dirty bobbles were still on the shower floor by Monday, that were there when we arrived on the Friday. A few showers were blocked especially in the gents, so the shower water would flood across the toilet block floor.
The litter generally around the site was bad, and you could tell some of it had been there longer than the weekend. The bins were not emptied all weekend, to be promptly collected on Monday morning around 8, which woke most of the site up.
The surrounds are stunning, especially with Crucis Abbey in the middles of the site. The location being so close to Llangollen was pretty good too. But considering Crucis Abbey was in the middle of the site, you think there would have taken care with the litter, bins etc. And the security of the Abbey itself, kids can easily climb the waist height gate into grounds at the night time.

This campsite is in a breath taking area in the valley just outside llangollen.
The camping side is really let down the grass is long and the toilets were so blocked up. I find it so sad to see such a beautiful site left ruined, there were also some very noisy campers with no regards to families and children late at night.

Just returned from a long weekend here - although it was Bank Holiday this place was not as full as expected. No washing up area in the Touring Caravan side, no hot water in the camping side, ancient showers and toilets, had to take our own toilet paper on occasions. Site staff were not very efficient - it took us over 20 minutes to check in and then we had to keep going back in to check whether they had got their machine for credit card payments sorted out. The site is in a nice location and its such a shame that more care and attention could not be paid to the fields as the Abbey is situated in the middle and you have to drive through the site to access it. The shop was well stocked with locally bred meat and reasonable in price. The tea rooms looked inviting although we did not use it.
I personally think this site is a little expensive for what you get especially after looking at some other sites in the area and finding better facilities and cheaper tariffs. The local pub Abbey Grange offers nice food and we can recommend the 24oz T Bone steak but service there is slow.
Llangollen is a lovely village/town and we had a lovely time visiting. The Steam train to Carrog is a wonderful journey and there is a lovely pub about 600mtr walk from the station. The Canal boats are worth a ride on either by horsedrawn or over the aqueduct - which is the one we chose - this was over 2 hours long and worth it for the breath taking view from the aqueduct.
