We originally stayed here in May 2012 for 3 nights and loved every second. It was quiet that weekend and had the larger camp field to ourselves. We enjoyed it so much we decided to return for the bank holiday weekend in August. Sadly our stay wasn't as pleasant as before. Standards have dropped massively in just 15 months.
The site does not enforce its own rules with regards to noise levels past the curfew. On the first night we ventured out into Llangollen to grab some dinner (The Corn Mill, which was lovely). On our return to the site it sounded like a party was in full flow. But it was only 10pm so we didn't worry too much at that point. To cut a long story short, the music and shouting continued to 2. 30am. As it was a large drunken group there was no way I was going to ask them to turn the music off.
The facilities here are nothing short of a disgrace. The toilet/shower block is disgusting, no hot water and the water pressure is none existent. Water simply dribbled down the wall.
Some good points of the site are, good drainage on the big camping field. The shop is fully stocked and the addition of the on site bar is brilliant. Good food too. The location is great as its about 1. 5miles to Llangollen with some lovely walks.
Overall, a bad site and we wouldn't stay again. If they sorted the showers. Toilets out and enforced their own rules it would be a superb site.

I checked first that a solo rider and motorcycle were permitted on site. I was informed that was no problem.
I only pitched for the one night as I was on a tour of Wales and South West England. I also left early at 07:30.
Reception was friendly enough and I was directed to park near a brook that ran along one side of the tent site.
There were only a couple of other tents pitched, so not exactly busy for mid-July. The guy next to my pitch was a little put out that he couldn't receive a TV picture and that the site management wouldn't refund his electric fee for the night.
Not exactly a deal-breaker for me though. In fact, maybe a bit of a godsend.
Inclusive showers and toilets were just fine.
I wasn't presented with any rules and regulations for the site, so maybe things have eased in this respect.
My only gripe was the fact that there was a continuous back and forth of an earth mover until after 20:00 which was looping the tent site and dumping earth on the other side of the stream.
I also missed the shop which closed at 17:00, but that was just down to me nodding off and eventually getting there too late.
I'd have no problem recommending this site to others.

Booked for two nights for the eisteddfod, a young lady on the reception said just take the first left and find a hook up, well there not in line or numbered in any way, might be an idea for them to do this, once we got there the touring caravan owners didn't like it that we were a trailer tent. Not the owners fault but the rules they lay down were broken, one family had a mini moto bike racing around cars and people, the noise went on till gone 12. Music blaring till late, took us ages to get to sleep, the toilet block on this field is dated and needs updating badly, no where to washing up areas, and an odd outside loo which I imagine is for caravan loo waste, the bulk bin was full and stank in this heat not good. The shower pressure was awful mid hair wash I had no water, not fun. Its a shame as its such a lovely spot but if they lay down rules then make people stick to them, even if there regular tourers as many leave them behind by the looks of it. It had put me off going back. The farm cafe very expensive for a greasy breakfast and not cooked properly eggs not done and pink sausage inside.

Awful campsite! We arrived at 9pm to a rude member of staff telling us we were late! Wasn't aware there was a check in time. We booked weeks ago, but the pitch we were directed to was full, my husband went back to reception and without any apology was told to drive round the other field and try to find our own pitch! Didn't appreciate 3 pages of rules to follow either. We booked because it said only 29 pitches, well add on a good 100 to that. We were creamed in, no space for my 2 young children to play, and not at all peaceful. The showers were old and none too clean. Had booked in for 2 nights but came home after 1, and we weren't questioned about our early departure. Never going back.

Booked at short notice (2 days before) for one night. Advised at time of booking we were a group of 3 families (3 tents, 7 adults 4 children). On arriving advised no trace of booking, no apology offered when booking found. Long list of rules provided - 3 pages worth! Also got the impression campsite not happy that we were a group. Told we'd have to stay on site all night as no barrier cards left - explained this wasn't an option as we were planning to eat in Llangollen Town later. Their suggestion was to leave one of the cars at reception. Refused this suggestion as not prepared to walk from reception to the camping field with my tent - long walk if carrying a heavy tent. Luckily a barrier card was returned whilst we were checking in so we had one card for 3 cars. Also think we were overcharged - no price list on display in reception but on checking camps own website on my return it appears we were overcharged at least £4.
Main toilet/shower block was very smelly and had no toilet paper all night/morning. Other toilet block old but cleaner and had toilet paper but no hot water, cold only. Showers free and hot but lost all pressure when other taps used. Washing up area dirty - located in a lean to next to gents toilets. Only 2 sinks one of which was blocked. Drinking water not signposted - only tap I could find was next to waste disposal - looked very unhygienic.
Despite long list of rules they didn't appear to be enforced. Site had a number of groups, some campers very noisy even past midnight (we adhered to no noise rule). Other campers did try to enforce no noise rule but not nice to listen to people arguing at that time of night.
Shop, butchers with locally produced produce on site - didn't use so cannot comment. Tea room appeared to provide a range of drinks, sandwiches, ice creams - did buy ice creams but again didn't find staff over friendly. Rope swing enjoyed by children. Site set in beautiful area and Llangollen Town, River Dee worth a visit. Just a shame site doesn't have a more friendly welcome. Although from reading other reviews we may have just been unlucky and dealt with someone who doesn't normally cover reception. Felt rules list was too long and pointless especially as they were not enforced. Those that don't behave wont be any different with a set of rules! Needs a better toilet block, increased cleaning during busy periods including toilet role replenishing and more barrier cards as I feel it is unacceptable to expect campers to be imprisoned on site. Wouldn't recommend during busy season but probably a nice place to stay during quieter times as long as all campers respected each other.

Saw the reviews and most of the bad reviews are down to people being camped next to low lives. So, giving it the benefit of the doubt, my wife and I went along in our brand new, two hour old motorhome and found our ehu pitch. Nice spot, nice site, glorious weather, however. Upon arriving back from a concert in llan, we were greeted by the entire cast of shameless, 5 tents of them, noisy brats and all! The ones next to us were so close to us, even there guy ropes were under our awning and they parked at the front of our pitch! Noise form the radio all day and crap left everywhere.
Totally ruined the rest of our stay. Chucking food on the roof of our motorhome and footballs hitting the cab.
Now, I live and let live, so had to bite my tongue and just make the most of it.
The site itself is lovely and in a beautiful setting, but not policed at all by the staff.
Unless you need electric, I would recommend the overfolw field. Thats where we will be going next time.
Would we go again, yes, definitely,
But we would be very choosy about our pitch!
(by the way, I am an avid 'tenter' as well).

We were looking for a campsite in North Wales for a couple of nights and came across Abbey Farm. Set in the splendour of North Wales, this was a very quiet and peaceful site that was a joy to stay at. The camp was quiet as schools had not broken up for holidays but what a wonderful place. Set next to Valle Cruciis Abbey and its great architecture and a running stream you get a mix of peaceful and tranquil sounds. The welcome that greets you sets the friendly manner of everybody on the camp and of the North Wales people in general. The toilets and showers were well maintained and cleaned regularly and the shop has what you need to keep you going. We used the site to visit Llangollen and the surrounding area and attraction and would recommend the site to anybody for a short stay of a few days or even a week. Full electric hook up is available with a few rope swings for the kids to enjoy.

We stayed in one of the new pods for the bank holiday weekend. The Pod was really lovely and good value for a family, we had parking right beside the stream and it was an idyllic and relatively peaceful setting. However, we found the shower block far too small for the number of people staying at the site. When all the showers are used hardly any water came out. The young girl who welcomed us to the site was really lovely and friendly and helpful but we had cause to feel the rudeness of another member of staff when booking out. We would definitely go back as its such a convenient place for everything Llangollen has to offer but would suggest a lesson in manners and an increase in facilities. No recycling !

We stayed here for one night, booked in at reception and received our card for the barrier. We were told the best place on the field to pitch as there was a little bit of standing water.
We pitched back up against the Abbey as we had electric hook up.
The field is pretty level with just a very slight slope and the grass was short.
We found the toilets clean and stocked with loo roll and the showers are free and water is hot, you have to keep pressing the button often to keep the shower going and the cubicle is rather tight on space in, but manageable.
There are 4 basins with hot and cold water, 2 urinals in gents and 2 toilets.
Ladies is the same minus the urinals.
There is a small old toilet block at the rear of the new one, but we didn't need to use this.
There are 2 pot wash sinks under a lean-to to the rear of the toilet block, this may be an issue at peak times, but there weren't many on the field while we were there.
There is a tyre swing, but we didn't have a go.
As stated previously there is a large metal container for rubbish at the side of the swing which did require emptying.
There is a stream which runs at the bottom of the field, this is fenced off, but I would watch small children all the same.
Walk back towards the site entrance and you can cut across the field to the left to get out onto the road for a walk into Llangollen, this takes around 30 minuets along the canal. There is only a short footpath which ends on the first bend, so you have to be careful if you have little ones for the short stretch to the canal.
There are numerous walks in the area, scenery is lovely and Llangollen is worth a visit and lunch. Steam railway station in the town.
If you head right out of the site, there is a hotel about a mile away with food. We didn't eat there this time, but will next time we go.
The lady on reception was helpful and let me use the computer and printer.
My wife and sister-in-law had a drink in the cafe and said it was alright while my brother-in-law and I put the trailer tent up and down. We didn't use the butchers’.
We will be going back either later this year or early next.

This was my third stay at Abbey Farm and I enjoyed it once again. This time the main field opposite the Abbey was closed to allow sheep to graze there, but the field alongside the Abbey and near to the stream was open and peaceful.
The facilities were clean and well maintained, the cafe is excellent and the shop, although a little sparsely stocked at times sells some helpful items and local meat. The site is a great starting point for walking in the hills nearby, and even on foot local attractions such as the steam railway, horse drawn canal boats and Llangollen town is fairly easy to get to.
As I've done before, I'd heartily recommend this site, the only down side to my trip* were not the fault or responsibility of the site, so I would definitely return.
*Whilst I was out for the day a small animal chewed its way into my tent!
