Just spent a long bank holiday weekend at this site with family. Good facilities and plenty of room to pitch tent.

Set in a lovely area of the Dee valley and not far from shopping facilities at nearby Llongollen centre.

However, shop and cafe on site if you cannot be bothered to cook and nearby pubs to eat out. There are some nice walks from the camp which vary from hill walks to the nearby canal route.

We went for a bit of a drive to see the famous aquaduct and Chirk castle (worth a visit and the kids will enjoy all the knights armour exhibits. Overall, a good choice of campsite.

Just returned from a weekend at this campsite, which was the venue for a sponsored walk that we took part in. Beautiful location by Valle Crucis Abbey, pleasantly surrounded by hills and close to Llangollen with the Britannia Inn just a short distance up the road. Camping field and facilities clean and tidy (liked the free hairdryer in the toilet block) and there was a small play area for children by the stream. Staff very pleasant and accommodating and the tearoom was open at 6.30 on the morning of the walk so we could have a good breakfast before setting off. Small shop sold very nice home-produced meat. No late-night noise as only families and couples there. Will definitely return to this site and thoroughly recommend it.

We have found a beautiful spot not so far from home and hope to return again very soon. Kids loved the stream and rope swings. In fact one night turned into two nights as they begged to stay longer.

May be good if play area was better for those who don't like paddling or for smaller children who don't like being cold and wet for too long. The site was generally clean with showers and toilets being good for the price.

But people being disrespectful not using the large skips provided seemed to cause a little problem! The owners and staff tried hard to keep on top of this.

The shop and cafe are good value and very handy being on site. In fact camping prices seemed fair too.

Lots of activity's and things to see nearby! Including steam train, mini golf, horse drawn barges, Large play area in Llan, outdoor pursuits and many pubs, bars + restaurants.

Just got back from Easter weekend at Abbey Farm, just as good as last August when we came, same price as last year. Took the wellies this year, we found horseshoe falls this year, it's excellent and easy to find. Instead of turning left at the canal for Llangollen, go right to the end of the canal. The weather was boiling, you can go swimming there or just chill watching the world go by. Noise levels were the same as last year, all quiet after 10 10.30 ish. You can hear people talking and the odd loud laugh, but hey people are there to enjoy themselves having a few quiet beers, they are on their holidays too.

All in all a great site and at the moment wouldn't want to go anywhere else. One point worth mentioning, I booked on the website and was told the site was full we were gutted. My wife rang the site up and was told there was a bit of room. The larger field was pretty much empty ish all weekend ?? Maybe it was comfortable numbers for shower blocks?

We really like this site its the first time we've been here as a family 2 adults and 2 kids aged 7 and 12 in a tent it was great loads of room although it was the end of august bank holiday weekend.

They charged us 3 nights instead of the 2 we actually went for but we understand the rules about minimum stays over bank holidays 3 nights minimum we knew this before we went. It's not the cheapest site in the world compared to some and the shower block isn't the best but we're not posh, you get on with what is available

The site and scenery is breathtaking. The 800 year old abbey is beautiful and the stream at the bottom is great for the kids, they would have stayed in it all day if their mum hadn't forgot the wellies

Night time it was as good as silent by 10 o'clock. We stayed out with our fire pit and the stars till gone midnight chilling quality

Well what can I say, lovely campsite, but staff in reception could do with smiling every now and then, staff in shop and cafe are lovely and the food is lovely too

Toilets are ok but the showers need a good clean and as for the noise at night it was terrible, 1st night we had to listen to a group of men until gone 3 in the morning, then on the Saturday night more talking and the sites dogs howling every 5 mins, not good,

Great in the day but not at night, would we go back um, I don't think so, came home to have a good nights sleep

We booked on to this site for 3 nights,

Fri, sat & sun. We arrived last night (fri) and have spent several hours looking for other sites in the area.

There are no defined pitches, you are squeezed in like sardines. Facilities were dirty and very basic. The 'Shop' had very little in it, fortunately we only wanted a pint of milk! The 'Butcher's shop, selling their own produce, wasn't open!

We really like this site - the location is perfect and it seems a lot more peaceful now they have tightened up and got rid of most of the tenters.

We did feel though that they were a bit manic with the security camera, we could hear them in the office zooming in on people and discussing them which was a bit off putting.

You are also not allowed to go in groups of friends any more even if you are several well behaved groups.

The facilities are fine - not the best not the worst that we have been to. Not the cheapest site in the world but we like the area very much so we will return.

Well the rules have changed they now do not take group bookings at all and it is aimed at young families.

The site is lovely with a stream running through and the abbey behind, however it was a bit on the pricey side and I don't feel it is value for money. The toilet / shower block is really dirty, there is hardly any water taps to get your units water (in fact I think there is only one for the whole site. )

Nice rope swing from the trees was great for the kids. Lovely tea room and small farm shop selling home reared meats and basics such as milk.

Security has been stepped up, there is a barrier for which you need a card (£10 deposit) and CCTV which actually I found very intrusive, the lady in the office zoomed straight into our awning while we were standing in front of her.

I understand that following poor reviews they have tried to address the noise, security etc but I feel they have gone a bit too far, the rules were overly enforced to the extent that you felt that enjoyment was not allowed. The owners were not very friendly either, they were a bit sniffy about my teenagers being part of my family group!

I will not be going again

Once was enough. The toilets were our main gripe. Not cleaned for 3 days on a busy bank holiday weekend and we were glad to get out of there and yes we complained several times and to no avail.

Noise, yes lots of it as others have noted. There are rules but not observed. This must be the worst camp site I have visited over the years. Shall we return, no
