What a lovely site very quiet at the moment with very good facilities. Very nice shop with all the basic supplies catered for

There is a nice forest walk muddy at the moment but still good fun

The stream/river that runs through the site is very pleasant to sit and watch all day. Loads for the kids to do. Staff very friendly and the amenities are as you would expect for this star ratting top notch

The only slight moan is the price I know you get what you pay for but it is up there with most expensive we have been to.

Will come back though

Lovely site which is situated in a little wooded dell. It is by a main road so it is pretty noisy if you are on that side of the campsite.

We went out of season, so there were not many people there - perfect!

We had a hardstanding next to the loos, which were warm and clean.

If you want a bath you can hire it for the evening.

The staff are really friendly, and in season there is a large (bit dated) coffee shop in the main reception area. Also an organic shop selling clothes and wash stuff. Also, I think some kind of spa treatment centre, though we didn't figure out where it was.

The tents are situated in a separate field which looked really nice.

There are woodland walks around the perimeter of the site.

We booked this site at the last minute and was really lucky to get in, I did think it was a bit pricey for what we got, I liked the idea that we had our own space rather than just go where you want.

It was noisy with the main road just opposite to the site and the stream running but you got use to that after the first night.

We had good weather but it did rain one night, and you are on grass and you would expect to get muddy and wet, that's the joy of camping.

We were really pleased with the facilities, and surprised to find that they had a bath on site.

The only thing that you need to take into account(how camping as come on) is we took our tv and you had borrow an ariel for 50p a day and £20 deposit but what they didn't tell you was that they was in the middle of the switch over so it meant we had to go out and buy a digi box, so if you do have tv do take a digi box with you.

We had a pleasant week and yes they maybe could do with another block of toilets nearby, we were near the wardens van and had a trek to the loo especially at 4 in the morning which I didn't enjoy.

Found the site with ease, booked into reception and was given a really good briefing, then shown how to get to Kingfisher meadow.

Found the Warden and he showed us our pitch with electrical hookup and gave us the guided tour of the camp area. He also explained that we could exercise our dogs in the woodland walk area but informed us to check the dogs regular for ticks, from the deer etc.

Facilities as expected (Showers, washroom, toilets, pan wash area. Washers £3 for 30 mins and driers £2 for 45 mins ) and they also have segregated family shower room for convenience. My wife did notice that the on site shop was expensive compared to local shops and I found a Tesco Supermarket in Braunton.

The area welcomes dogs but you are limited to certain beaches to exercise them on. Most ban dogs from May to Sept. One beach is Saunton Beach but it costs £6 a day to park.

The major problem with this camp site is main road, with its noise levels, that runs adjacent to the site from early hours till late, daily!

Fantastic site with lovely clean toilet blocks, showers. Well stocked shop where you could order bread etc. Staff very friendly & pleasant. Used the Spa - brilliant, very relaxing experience!

There is a takeaway van on site twice a week, not fantastic, but good enough.

Loads of things to do locally, great pubs, walks. Plenty for adults and children to do. Would recommend this site, and will hopefully be visiting again.

When we arrived at the entrance it looked very pretty, we booked in and then a warden came to take us to our pitch. The road was full of pot holes and when we was shown our pitch which was a super pitch we was so disappointed. It was so small you could almost touch your neighbours caravan.

The toilets were clean, and the shop if you need to buy anything then go to the local supermarket the price in the shop is expensive.

The children's play area looked very good

Make sure you take blocks for the caravan because the pitches are very uneven

We arrived in pouring rain (never having used the caravan before) and were impressed that the warden took time to guide us to our pitch and see us settled in. Also directed us to the nearest accessory shop for all the bits we had forgotten!

Our pitch was great - block paved with a picnic table - and the owner took the time to come along to see how we were finding it.

Nice site to walk around - good paths and well lit - I felt quite comfortable walking the dog alone late at night. The small restaurant did a great cooked breakfast and the shop sold enough locally produce for a good barbecue as well as some interesting gift items.

Showers spotless, water piping hot and floors heated. Good laundry facilities too. There was also a small toilet block conveniently close to our pitch which was invariably spotless, Rubbish and chemical waste points were tastefully screened.

Our dog loved the brilliant local beaches - miles and miles of sand! Very pleasant local vet close by as well - it's tick country!

Arrived on site and had a warm welcome.

Entry and exit to site is via a code controlled barrier which made me and family feel safe.

Was shown to pitch by site warden who was very helpful and friendly.

Site is very clean and tidy with clean well equipped toilet blocks.

Site is in my opinion a well positioned site within easy reach of east and west coast of north Devon.

10 mins from tesco nr ilfracombe.

Only one downside to which I found was no shelf in shower cubicle which is a minor moan really.

Will definitely be going back next year and would recommend it to friends and family.

We stayed at hidden valley for 2 nights in a tent paying £44 per couple per pitch. We thought at the time that this was expensive but the campsite would make up for that. I’m afraid to say it didn’t. When we arrived we were told that the camping field had flooded & we were moved to the area where caravans were set up. On the Friday the campsite wasn’t very busy as the weather was awful however over the weekend the campsite got a little busy & it seemed the sites facilities couldn’t cope, the site was only half full at this point. We think the site could do with another block of facilities.

The site is set in a lovely location but is close to the main road, make sure you take your own entertainment as other than walks there isn’t much to do at the site.

This site would probably be better suited to individual couples – families are welcome there but I would be worried about the children playing near the stream / lake. The road inside the site is a one way road but cars pulling caravans are coming & going all the time. We used the on site shop once to buy 4x AAA batteries – this cost £4.25, so try not to forgot anything otherwise you will pay over the odds,

All in all a nice site with fairly clean facilities but is over priced.

Having been keen on trying this site (based on it's reputation), we finally managed a week at Hidden Valley in late May 09.

Despite the site being fairly picturesque, it did not reflect the idyllic destination suggested on the website, especially as the main A361 was within 20 yards of our unit, (noisy).

The hard-standing we'd been allocated was on an upper terrace, however the pitch areas were poor and when the site was busy over the Bank Holiday, we were all in each others pockets and felt very hemmed in. Electric and water were readily to hand, but surprisingly the fully serviced pitches relied on soak-aways for the grey waste

The toilet facilities were fairly clean and the under-floor heating compensated for the lack of hot water for the showers! The block also included disabled facilities, washing-up and laundry etc, all of which I'd describe as 'reasonably adequate'. The block could benefit from a pot of paint or two, plus more frequent cleaning visits as general cleanliness seemed to rely on the campers mopping the floor themselves!

The play facilities were reasonable, however my daughter sought more enjoyment from the stream which runs through the site. There's the usual swing, rope slide, shed for a den etc.

Unfortunately I'm unable to comment on the shop from experience; wife claimed they had a unique range of local gifts etc., but as for a local shop (i.E. For essentials), the site was pretty expensive.

There is a coffee shop/cafe on site adjacent to an attractive pond and garden, which is very pleasant.

Having taken a stroll to the camping field, this appeared to be like a different site altogether. Although still well packed, the general feel and quality of the area was higher and to be honest, I'd have preferred to have pitched amongst the tents; we weren't offered this choice when booking, (only the attempt of talking us into taking a larger pitch) however caravans were within the camping field.

PS: If you do visit the area, you must visit Squiries Fish n Chip restaurant in Braunton (I'm not associated with the establishment), but it did prove more than adequate compensation for the below par camping experience.
