We were in older part backing on to stream. On hard standing but not level enough so we had to buy more ramps from caravan centre up the road(suggested by helpful memeber of staff). Lovely hot showers with under floor heating and good to be able to sing along with local radio! Didn't use shop but heard it was very expensive (£8.50 for hair conditioner!). Quite expensive £24 per night but does have 16 amps so made sure we plugged all our electrics in whenever we could to make good use !Weather cloudy so didn't really explore immediate area and had had a lot of rain.Staff helpful and were to be seen checking regularly. Explored Exmoor but views obscured by low cloud!

We were charged £39.00 per night to stay at Hidden Valley with our large dome tent and a small pup tent which seemed hugely expensive to me and in stark contrast with our few nights camping at Toms Field in Swanage the week before for £15.00 a night .
We were in the lowest field which was unfit to camp in as it was so muddy it was like a swamp. Two members of our family fell over and the tent and our clothes were filthy. I spoke to other campers who simply gave up and went home because of the filth.
It is also right next to the A361 so road noise is inevitable and not what I would describe as a hidden valley!
Also, the tarmaced road which runs very close to the pitches stated a 5 mile per hour speed but nobody abided by this and cars hurtled around at speeds of 25 mph within feet from our tent. We had our learning disabled child with us who was almost run over on two occasions. We literally had to scoop him out of the road while the ignorant drivers carried on. Added to this, was the fact that with the noise of the road and the noise of the fast flowing river we couldnt hear the cars coming. This meant we either had to keep our son in the tent the whole time or continually watch over him. Hadly a very relaxing break. We informed the young girl on reception who seemed out of her depth with how to handle this problem
In short, we feel out of pocket, filthy from all the mud and exhausted from all the stress.
And the site has absolutely no character. DONT BOTHER!

We just returned from a week break at hidden valley and had a lovely time despite the weather. We stayed on a premier pitch and it had all services that you require, the park itself is very picturesque. We were at the bottom of the site and it was nice and quite and very relaxing. The toilet block was kept very clean and the heated floors in the showers were great. We had a lovely stream behind our pitch and my children loved having a paddle in it, the playground is kept well and my children played there many times. We visited some local beaches, croyde, woolacombe on our few sunny days and they were both lovely and had wonderful views. The pub in the village of knowle, ebrington arms served lovely food and gave a warm welcome, we definitely recommend a meal in there. Overall we would recommend this lovely site and would return again when down in Devon.

We stayed at the site with our two children, camping in Kingfisher Meadow. Our welcome was excellent and the warden showed us right to the pitch. We had not camped before as a family and the warden gave us useful information on the equipment needed for electric hook ups, suggesting that we check the prices in the camp shop and compare with a local camping store, giving us directions to it. Every time we visited reception, the staff were very pleasant.
The site is beautifully kept, quiet at night and the facilities are also excellent. Plenty of toilets and showers, a family room, somewhere to plug your hairdryer in, and also one fitted to use (in the ladies). We only visited the play area in Kingfisher Meadow however this was definitely good fun, being set in the edge of the woods with a slide, rocking horse and zip wire.
Our standard pitch was a good size (the warden in fact suggested we park opposite to give us some extra room), but there were some larger pitches available too, really spacious. We had a water tap just behind the tent and all the tents in the meadow were reasonably close to the toilet block, but not too far away - if that makes sense. The standard pitch also included access to the hook up. When I called to book, I was asked the dimensions of my tent so you may like to have this information handy if you call; they can then say whether you will fit the standard pitch.
Woolacombe beach was fabulous- parking was £6 a day close to the beach, and as we only parked there I do not have any alternative suggestions for parking. The beach was very clean, as were the toilets close by. Plenty of places to eat too - takeaways, pubs, cafes. Braunton had a good variety of shops. Westward Ho! has a mainly (large) pebbled beach, difficult to cover with kids and impossible with a buggy, I should think. Our long weekend was not long enough to try everywhere, however we will definitely return to Hidden Valley, and to Woolacombe beach.

I booked this place up for two weeks in February half term. My folks stayed the 1st week, then my lot the 2nd. Beware they no longer offer half price deals for over 50's as stated on the website. In all a nice site. The upper terrace both backs onto the access road and the main road which is annoying so earplugs are essential. Though the visit was around the time of the heavy rain and we didn't envy those on the lower terraces ass there's a brook running through them and the grass was like mud. They put you on hardstandings to accommodate this so bring some steel pegs. There is a lot of beautiful birds surrounding the cafe area. They get booked up quick for Sunday lunch and no longer have a bar area I believe (shame). There's decent security to the site with a barrier and a good dog walk behind the site up into the woods but it is very muddy! There is only one amenities block but it was clean all the time with free hot showers and music playing throughout the night. Laundry facilities looked new. They were building some bases on the bottom of the site for statics. Wardens were nice and helpful. Nearby Ilfracombe is worn. Woolacombe is a nice day out at the beach. We preferred Coombe Martin for the causeway, great for crabbing, dog friendly with a nice pub overlooking the bay. Overall a nice site for older folks and those looking for a quite no frills break.

Spent 6 nights at Hidden Valley when the weather was really nice. Friendly staff and the site is very well kept. We were down the bottom part where the grass pitches are and it was very nice. The shower block was very good and very clean. The site was very quiet whilst we were there so no problem with facilities. There is no longer a bar there and the coffee shop seemed a little overpriced. Having said that we had Sunday Lunch there at £7.95 it was excellent and very good value.
A nice thing is that there is a bus stop in both directions right outside the gate and it is a very good service. Especially useful for motorhomes and those with bus passes. It is necessary as you cannot walk the A361 as it would be too dangerous.
The Ebrington Arms in the next village serves good food.
A very nice site and we would stay there again.

Best camp site yet. My partner and I took our 2 dogs for 2 nights.
All the staff are helpful and friendly. Lovely walks in the woods less than a minute away from our pitch. Our labrador had a lovely swim in the stream where it widened out and was deep enough.
The shower and toilet blocks were excellent. We sat by the lake and Terry the chef brought out our cream teas and he also brought out a bowl of water for our dogs, how thoughtful, (the site is very dog friendly).
Alf and Annette the wardens certainly go the extra mile to ensure you enjoy your stay.
Not only electric hooks readily available but waste and drinking water taps at every pitch and T.V aerial connection if you want it. The pitches are well spaced out no overcrowding. Good washing up facilities. The site has recycling facilities and there is a shop and play areas for the children too.
I would recommend this site to anyone but especially if you have a dog. Ours were quick to click on that when they woke us up they could have a run in the the woods a 6.30 in the morning! Then they went back to bed. One draw back the traffic on the main road was quite noisy at times but we live in the back of beyond so are not used to it.

We had read several reviews on this site & were looking forward to an excellent site.
First the good points.
1. Large plots, nicely landscaped. 2. Clean toilets & showers with plenty of hot water. 3. On site shop & restaurant (see below).
Now the bad points.
1. Expensive for the limited facilities. 2. The park lacked any atmosphere. 3. The childrens play area was v poor. 4. The restaurant is very expensive & we were very disappointed with the quality & service at breakfast. We thought we'd treat ourselves but left wishing we'd stayed in the tent & cooked something. 5. Although the radio in the shower block was a nice touch, it was turned down so low you couldn't make out any dialogue. News & weather bulletins were inaudible. 6. The name Hidden Valley conjures up a secludes valley miles from the beaten track however this Hidden Valley is next to the A361 with its inevitable road noise.
We enjoyed our time in North Devon & the nearby Combe Martin Dinosaur & Wildlife Park captivated the kids for a day

This is the best site I have ever stayed at - and I have been camping for over 30 years in UK and France.
The welcome is very warm and the staff are very helpful - we forgot our gas bottle and they sold us a replacement and loaned a regulator for free which they delivered to the tent.
The site itself is outstandingly beautiful. There is lots of wildlife - loads of butterflies, dragon flies and birds especially. The lake area is very relaxing to walk/sit around and the gardening standard is very high. The pitches are of generous size with hedges for privacy and shelter from wind or sun depending on the weather. Even though there were a lot of children on site it was still peaceful.
A lot of empasis is placed on recycling which is good to see.
The showers and toilets are clean and plenty of hot water, same for the washing up facitlities.
The food in the bar was very good and it was also a good place to go and relax for a drink at the end of the day as there is a terrace over looking the garden where you can sit with a drink and watch the birds.
The local area is very nice, good beaches, plenty to do with nice shopping places, wild life walikng areas, cycle tracks etc. My kids still talk about the local ice cream which was worth every penny.
I will be going back - if it were nearer to home I would go several times each season a six star site for me!

Thirteen years ago I first visited this site. Personal circumstances prevented a return visit until September of this year. After such a long wait had I built up my memories to unrealistic levels? No; every thing was still as before, just perfect. In thirty five years of active caravanning I have yet to visit a better site.
The location is ideal, quiet and peaceful, yet not too far from the local attractions. The natural beauty of the site has been enhanced by professional and sympathetic gardening.
All the facilities blend in well and are in first class order. Towards the end of a busy season all the staff were warm, friendly, and good at their jobs.
The site is so well laid out that one never feels crowded, or parked in long never ending straight lines.
I would recommend this site to all without reservation.
