Having just spent 13 nights here, we all agreed what a beautiful site it is. The toilets and shower blocks are very clean, plenty of hot water in the power showers. From when we booked in the staff were very friendly and helpful. You were even taken to your pitch. We stayed on the Kingfisher meadow, which seemed more for tents than caravans, due to the age of the children this area was more appropriate. The whole site is situated in woodland, where you could go off and walk. The only negative comment I would say is that the children's play area is in the woods which was rather dark and not in eye view, plus could do with a bit more lighting near toilet/showers as very dark around there. We did go and have a walk around site where the hard standing pitches were and would book these next time as we thought this was a very nice spot, also play area was more in the open as well.

Just back from a week at Hidden Valley - 4 nights on a Premier Pitch and 3 on a Large in Kingfisher Meadow. We only booked a month before our visit so we couldn't get 7 nights on the same pitch.
A lovely site in a great location - prettily situated next to a pine plantation. Easy driving distance to the beaches at Sauntan, Woolacombe and Croyde.
The pitches were all quite muddy after the very wet recent weather, with the wardens offering straw to put over the worst bits but advising that units be placed over the mud to keep the grass areas protected. The Large pitch we found to be much better drained in the rain than the Premier.
The Premier pitch was great - in that section of the field there are only two rows back to back so you are not surrounded by other campers. However, when we moved to the large pitch, although there were 4 rows of units in that area, it did not feel hemmed in and the pitch felt just as wide, yet not as deep. The only downside was not having a picnic bench which wasn't too much of a problem.
The washing up area and toilets were good - barely any queuing even at busy times. The laundrette (£3 for 30 min wash, £1 20 mins drying) is useful for emergency laundry!
My two boys (aged 7 and 9) had a great time paddling in the stream which goes along one side of the field (take plenty of clothes as they will get wet!) The stream is child's waist deep in places so take care particularly with toddlers. The play area in this field consists of a zip wire, a rocking horse and a slide so not much to keep younger or even older children busy.
Our dog was welcome and there were lots of dog poo bins dotted around as well as trails in the forest for walks. We had a couple of lovely meals at the Ebrington Arms just a few minutes drive away and dogs are welcome inside, great news when you don't want to eat in the beer garden! Reception had some cards which give 10% off food.
Generally, this is a great site, the wardens and reception staff are really friendly and helpful. I think I arrived expecting luxury based on the price but actually, while everything was clean and well managed, the price reflects the market rate for this area rather than particular luxury at the site.
The traffic noise is loud, as is the sound of the babbling brook, but after the first couple of nights I stopped noticing it.

Our second visit at this lovely site. We found all the staff very helpful and friendly. Excellent facilities and very well kept grounds and gardens. Large pitches on bowling green grass. Very good food at Ebrington Arms 1 mile down the road. Heavy rain on arrival and the exmoor drizzle on departure. We were unlucky but still a nice stay. Only minus point is the road noise but we soon got used to this as background noise. We stay here because it is very sheltered for our folding camper compared to the windy coastline.

I booked this site over the phone, when staff were very polite and helpful. My booking was confirmed by email. I arrived in the rain to be received by welcome and helpful staff, who showed me to my pitch.
The site is very secluded being down a fairly lengthy track and surrounded by a full belt of full grown trees. All the tracks in the site are fully hard surfaced with tar macadam. One criticism is the precision with which we were told where to pitch our tent (it seemed to me to be to the nearest foot). It was indeed over to top of the previous tent shadow, that is on top of the half dead grass. As this had been going on all season, this was now a patch of mud. I would have thought it better to move the pitches slightly each time or to have given the camper some latitude so that the grass could have had time to recover. On the other side of the coin however I did like the hedges that separated the pitches, giving a level of seclusion, I don't normally get to enjoy.
The site had a resident warden, who was generally unobtrusive, but did keep it very tidy.
The shower / toilet block was one of the most spacious and one of the cleanest I have ever enjoyed, with an endless supply of luxurious hot water.
The site has its own café and had fresh bread every morning to order. However it did run out of bacon. I didn’t try the breakfast – but it smelled good! I would like to have seen this facility serving evening meals. In fact might it be worth exploring the viability of a (licensed??) restaurant on site open to the wider public?
We ate out most evenings – the local pub served excellent food – however our late (after 11. 00pm) arrival back on site did mean a fairly lengthy walk to the site through the woods from the car park, as the site is locked at night. This is good for security (and I agree with it) but it would have been nice to have had a small car park slightly closer to the tents, particularly when it's raining!
The site is amazingly secluded bearing in mind it is right next to the main road from Barnstaple to Ilfracombe, but traffic noise is still audible (particularly early in the morning).
Overall a well thought out and well run site, which with a few tweaks would be perfect!
Just one thing, next time I visit the west country, can you organise some sunshine for me instead of the rain I normally get?

Absolutely first class site in all aspects. The staff are the best I've ever encountered, helpful, friendly and very hardworking. The site was perfect with large, flat pitches and spotless toilets and showers.
The site has an excellent recycling policy and while we were there, one of the staff offered a (free) larger tent to a family that someone had left there.
We took a BBQ from the recycling area and left it for someone else when we left.
The site has a cafe which we didn't use and a well stocked shop.
All the beaches in and around Woolacombe and Ilfracombe are within easy travelling distance.
Devon in August is a busy place but Hidden Valley manages to remain quiet and peaceful. We would certainly return without question.

A pleasant site with polite and friendly staff, nice play areas for the children with basic, but adventurous equipment (great zip wires), and a lovely stream and woodland walk to explore.
However the name implied the site would be quiet and peaceful, which the site was in terms of guests, but it was right by the road and the sound of the traffic was constant.
We had a camper van with awning, and were given a pitch which was half grass, half gravel. We were instructed to erect the awning on the gravel which would have been difficult to put tent pegs in, and uncomfortable.
We were told it was to avoid the grass being spoilt despite the pitch next to us having a tent erected directly on the grass. When we expressed our concerns we were then told to use the grass of the pitch next door instead, so whilst we ended up with a huge pitch, we still erected on the grass, so I don't really see why we couldn't have done that in the first place on our own pitch
The matter was dealt with politely and promptly. I probably wouldn't stay here longer than a few days, but it was a good stopping off point and easy to get to the surrounding places of interest.

Great site it was nice and peaceful.
A great play area for children in the woods, this is more for older children though than toddlers. Not sure what the play area was like down the caravan end.
Just my husband and I stayed for 5 nights.
Clean, tidy, well kept site, very friendly wardens.
The showers and toilets well-kept and clean even though the weather was a little wet at times. I even saw the wardens moping them out at about 23. 00h one evening.
The site is based a few miles from the sea, it meant you are close enough to get there during the day but not too close to be windswept.
I would definitely stay here again.

Just spent the best holiday ever here. We loved it so much we stayed an extra 4 days. It's so peaceful, the birds and the babbling river gently woke us each morning. The forest walks were fabulous all your strains and stresses will vanish. There are lovely grounds to walk around and a peaceful lake to sit by, and although we didn't see them I'm sure we heard otters playing and whistling at night. There are 2 play areas for the kids and they both have zip wires climbing frames etc. The facilities are brilliant lovely showers plenty of hot water and VERY clean, you can even have a bath if you prefer to. Also a very useful launderette. All the staff are so friendly and welcoming we were really made very welcome, and so was our dog Ruby. It's really easy to find and near to so many attractions in North Devon, having said that we only left the site 3 times in 10 days. We are so looking forward to going back. There is a bit of road noise but hey who doesn't live near a road and you don't really notice it, but it's only fair to mention it

Just coming to the end of a lovely week here at hidden valley. Its very much a family run establishment and they go out of their way to make you feel very welcome.
The park has been very peaceful and the upkeep of the park adds to its serenity. The play park for the children has been well thought out and our two children enjoyed dam building in the stream that passes through the park.
The showers and toilets are well maintained and there is ample hot water that you can regulate. There are washers and driers available to use which due to a few wet days came in handy. Their home produced cream teas went down a treat some afternoons and their coffee area housed a good selection of books and games.
We took a walk down to the tenting area too and the pitches were large, easily capable of housing the modern day dome tents etc.
All in all we have had a lovely time here and couldn't wish for better hosts. If there was any negative comments to make it wouldn't be about the park but about the difficulty of getting through the nearby town of Braunton which can at times be congested.

Spent a very wet 3 nights in May Spring Bank Holiday at this site. We had a large site on Kingfisher meadow and were delighted with the pitch and the site generally.
Expensive but we knew that before booking. I can't say that the site warranted the additional cost, however the large pitches (not the jumbo size) were excellent and provided enough space for a large tent, plus outside space for cooking, the car and still enough room to play boules!
Generally very good shower block. The showers were the best and cleanest I have stayed in. Washing up facilities under cover but still open to the elements ie driving rain- so beware if you are delicate!
For children this site is wonderful- we have 2 boys aged 8 & 9 yrs who loved the site- we took with us our walkie talkies which were ideal as a means of calling them back for meals etc.
Streams for the boys to play in, great play area in the woods- a boys dream. The shop didn't have a great deal in stock so don't rely upon it and it is expensive as is the cafe, where a tiny jacket potato with no garnish and a spoonful of tuna mayo will set you back £4. 50.
We ate there once upon arrival in the rain whilst bracing ourselves to pitch camp and due to the cost didn't do it again. That is however our only criticism of the site.
Generally we would return and recommend wholeheartedly and the staff were charming and helpful.
