I visited Gordale farm on the 22nd of July and returned home on the 24th of July. I visited the farm with my dad and two brothers and I really enjoyed my time there. The views from every angle was nice and I enjoyed walking around the scar. The biggest let down was the toilets and showering facilities they weren't the cleanest I have seen but other than that it was great.

Visited this site on the May Bank Holiday weekend 2007 with my two boys. It is a large open site and feels very remote which to me is an attraction. The washing facilities are basic but clean. The lad who runs the site is a star and seemed to know where every tent that was booked in was going to be pitched even though all I saw initially was a large field. It was obvious on speaking to others that many are repeat visitors who return time after time. I pitched my tent near to a copse towards the far end of the site as I figured it would provide shelter from the wind. It did. The scenery is truly spectacular and we did a circular walk that covered the waterfall, Malham, Malham Scar and scramble down Gordale Scar (hairy). In regard to the DoE awards kids, they did not provide a problem and were better behaved than when I did mine a few decades ago. The pub in the village sells very nice beer (too nice) but is an ideal half way rest point for the walk covered above.

Site is nice except for the facilities. There was only one shower and the bathrooms weren't the cleanest. I've seen worse, but I've found much nicer facilities at other sites. They allow dogs which you will be charged for. The road there is very narrow, but there are passing spots. The campsite area is beautiful though!

Is is one of my favourite campsites. I have stayed here when I was in the Scouts and doing my Duke of Edinburgh award (many years ago). I am in my 30’s and still love the outdoors. I have arranged camping here for groups of friends between 10 and 20 people about once a year. There are showers, toilets and water on site but that’s it about it. After about 11pm the site becomes quite quiet. If you are making a noise you will be asked to keep it down. Although the campsite facilities are basic the location is unbeatable. At one end of the campsite you have Gordale Scar, a rock face which is on a main footpath though dales, easy climbing. At the other end of the campsite and a short walk away is Janet’s Foss, a beautiful little waterfall. For the more adventurous, you can walk over to Malham Cove. With beautiful views over Malham and surrounding country side. There is a Pub in Malham for the well earned beer. Note: a public footpath runs through the campsite, just be conscious of security. I would like to point out that I have never had problem. I always look forward to going back.

What a great place, We've just spent three nights there over the bank holiday weekend. It was busy, but that was good, plenty of D of E kids about, but they were no problem. It's a beautiful spot, we're already planning the next trip. Malcolm is very helpful, if a little eccentric. The facilities are fine for a camp site. The shower was great, plenty of hot water and very cheap, I put 30p in and didn't use up all the time available. Highly recommended.

I imagine that on weeknights this is a rather quiet little campsite in a awe inspiring beauty spot, but come weekends it's a completely different story. From about 5pm on Friday night car after car arrived bringing couples and families who had brought beer, barbeques, and full size mattresses in one case! It wasn't a holiday weekend when I stayed there but it was still packed as about 100 Duke of Edinburgh kids were staying (complete with 8 minivans). But to be fair the campsite while rowdy at first, had quietened down down by 11ish, and there didn't seem to be too much drunken behaviour, just people relaxing after a working week. The footpath running straight through the middle has already been mentioned, and it is a security concern as it's a very popular path (the only way in and out of Gordale Scar, unless you climb the waterfall), and hundreds of people will pass by your tent if you're there at the weekend. The toilets, shower, and sinks were adequate (especially considering it's a farm), and you're paying more for the superb location than the facilities. You have to pay per person or car and per tent (it cost me £5, £3 for me, £2 for the tent). And if you're a walker, it's probably best to take food with you as it's a steep 1 and a half mile walk back to the pubs in Malham, an there's no other pubs or shops for miles around.

Lovely camp site, with basic facilities - think twice before bringing a caravan to this site - would not like to have met anything coming the other way on the road leading to the site. Lucky had Friends with us who went and stopped any traffic coming into the narrow lane / road leading to the site.

I first saw this campsite when I was visiting Malham some years ago, it's a little gem. I knew I just had to go one day, so a couple of years ago I did, for a couple of nights. The Saturday night was very busy with not a lot of room in the central area but on Sunday I went for a walk and on my return, the weekend campers had gone and it was nice and peaceful with only a few backpackers doing the Pennine way for company. I would advise anyone to make a booking on holiday weekends to avoid disappointment

This campsite is nestled in to a true beauty spot - WOW! We really enjoyed the peaceful and quiet spot where we camped. Where else could you cross a stream with your tent via a plank bridge to get that extra bit of privacy from other campers? It was also nice that families and couples are asked to camp in different areas of the site. For a farm campsite, I think the toilets and shower were fine. There was a good supply of hot water to wash up with, and 2 sink areas. Just one thing to be aware of - there is a footpath going through the campsite. I wouldn't want to leave my valuables unattended. I camped with my 3 year old daughter and she loved chasing the sheep and 'wellying' in the stream. If you want a quiet bit of countryside to camp in, but still want toilets and a shower, come here! Overall a great site which I will use again.

Stayed at this campsite for 2 nights in July. It is in a beautiful location and an ideal spot for walking and getting away from it all, providing you are not there on a Friday or Saturday night. The facilities are basic but adequate for the money. £14 for 2 adults and a camper-van for two nights. Although I nearly had to pay another £2 as my rolled up fleece on the seat was mistaken for a dog. If you are thinking of taking a Motor-home wider than 6ft 6in you may have difficulty accessing the site through the farm, there is a wider gate to the field but this can only be used with the farmers permission. Although the lane from Malham to Gordale Scar is narrow there are plenty of passing places. We stayed on a Thursday and Friday night. On Thursday the site was almost empty with only half a dozen tents. Friday was a different story, after returning from an all day walk the campsite was packed solid. People queueing for the toilets and showers and the farmer was expecting more people on the Saturday. Avoid the summer weekend if you can.
