July 2005 Absolutely beautiful campsite I agree. I am not new to malham but saw a different side to it last weekend because it was our first time at Gordale Scar.
Also, we broke down on Monday morning, and Malcolm gave us a thorough MOT and managed to get us going again! what a guy. I gave him a fiver for his trouble and he tried to give me £1 change!
Would recommend 5*****

July 2005 This Site is in a truly magnificent location, a stream runs through the site and you have the option of camping by the waters edge, a short walk to the breathtaking Gordale Scar, a one mile and a half walk by the stream into to Malham is lovely and Malham it's self is a truely traditional and beautiful Yorkshire village with a great pub called the Listers Arms Back to the Site, unfortuately the facilities are very basic but the worst part is that it is down-right dirty, with only one shower for the whole Site and and two pot washing sinks in the same room, in all very poor. But would I go again? YES Just take the jiff wipes !!!!

July 2005 Just got back from Gordale Scar, what a fab site, the scenery is gorgeous, kids loved it, climbing up the waterfall, throwing themselves in Janet's Foss on a red hot day.
Some nice pubs in Malham which is a short walk away.
Only downside is the toilets and wash area. Now I can live with basic, but unclean basic, they smelt awful. Other than that a great site to visit oh and watch out for midgies on a hot evening they are hungry.

June 2005 This site must have one of the best settings in the UK. The facilities are well kept though basic. No local shop so stock up, though the snack van still parks up at the lay-by. The footpath to Goredale Scar runs through the site and is well used, as the scar is a remarkable local attraction. A delightful stream also meanders through the site and this attracts many interesting birds.
There are great walks from the site to suit all abilities. These range from an easy level walk through a National Trust woodland with a waterfall reputed to be the home of the queen of fairies, to a challenging climb up the waterfall at Goredale Scar and over the tops to the top of Malham Cove.
On this visit on a traditionally damp weekend we were surprised how busy it was. Though not overly noisy compared to most sites, we did feel that the beauty of the site would be even more enhanced if visited mid week when its quieter.
Though there might not be enough to occupy some youngsters or those wanting a more exiting (?) time for more than a couple of days, I am sure most people would find a couple of days here a rewarding and memorable experience.
We will be back, frequently. :-)

May 2005 Beautiful site and great location! We pitched our tent by the stream that runs through the site and found the sound of the water very therapeutic. We did find it a noisy site but I don't think this is a regular occurrence, I just think we picked a bad weekend. There were a few groups of young lads still shouting until 4am and allot of children running around making allot of noise by 7am. But despite the lack of sleep we still had a great time and the stunning location made up for it. Pitch is very muddy so come prepared! Facilities are basic but clean and there’s always toilet roll!
The walk to Malham took us about 20 minutes but it is very pleasant. If you stop at the Lister Arms pub I would recommend trying a bottle of “Orval” beer. It’s 6,2% and is served in a very unusual glass. A taste slightly like cream soda but certainly warms you up! Food’s really nice here too! And despite the pub being very busy the service was remarkably quick. You must leave room for dessert though as the sticky toffee pudding is to die for! I would recommend this site to anyone!

June 2004 Great site still- 13 of us arrived on an extremly wet weekend (it doesn't get much worse than what we saw this weekend - primary school kids traipsing up to Gordale Scar through site in tears due to driving rain!) The site was pretty muddy but no-one seemed to care. Site owner allowed us to erect a gazebo, whic kept us all together and dry enough to cook. Took some non- campers with us who had no concern whatsoever for the basic nature of this site- they were just bowled over by the location (despite having driven from Peterborough in driving rain arriving at 10.30 at night!!). That's how good this place is. Add to that the fat cat, great loos (as mentioned previously- we noted it too!), great food and cashback facilities at the Lister Arms in Malham, and you can't really ask for a greater weekend camping experience than this! (Surprisingly good quality loo roll too considering such basic facilities!)

August 2004 Well what can I say - heres the story. Me and a few mates went to this little campsite in Malham. It looked great as we passed the gate into it. We then went on to where you pay and the extent of Camper Bill (Malcolm, the campsite owner, who was named by my friend as camper bill for some strange reason) was noticed. It is one of the best campsites I've been too. very, very cheap with amazing facilities for the price and even though we shared the field with Bill's sheep he was happy to pick up the stuff that came out of their bottoms!!! Malham is only 15 minutes walk away (although walking back from it in the dark is v. v. v. scary-watch out for the Jeeper!) The pubs are great and the walk around Malham is great. You can get milk from the little refreshments van that comes round but apart from that no shops unfortunately GREAT CAMPSITE - RECOMMENDED!!

August 2004 Just back from Gordale Scar camp site again and it's still fantastic. Even though it had rained all week the owners had kept the site clean and tidy and the water had drained off well.
Tip for food; take your own food for the first day but the drive to Settle (small town with many shops, Gargrave only has a couple of shops so Settle is preferable) is a beautiful 15 min drive away.
Also the Lister Arms (15 mins walk away) pub is great for a wide range of bormal and speciality drinks and serves the best pub grub iv ever had, it's restaurant quality. also on a sunny day you can sit outside the pub and feed the ducks or on a grey day you can sit inside and stroke the very big cat (its a testiment to the pub grub cos its got that big eating any quality leftovers)
We'll definatly go back again and again!

August 2004 Beautiful setting at the base of Gordale Scar, probably the most stunning campsite I have stayed at. Facilities are basic but more than adequate for such a small site. The only shower is hot and clean (10p for 2 mins 15 seconds), and there is plenty of hot water for washing up. The owner will freeze ice packs for cool boxes. Try to avoid the weekends unless you like crowds. It gets very busy (but then again, doesn't everywhere?). You'll need to book if you are turning up at the weekend.
The babbling brook flowing through the site looks great. But beware, after 1 1/2 days of solid heavy rain it turned into a raging torrent, several people waking up to find a river flowing through their tents! In fact, much of the site was very boggy.
Also, it is a sheep farm, so watch out for the endless sheep poo! Despite Malcom's attempts to sweep it up daily, there's plenty around.
Malham is a 15 minute walk away, and has great pubs and cafes plus a very small shop. Lots of stunning walks nearby. And there are plenty of interesting places nearby. Settle is a lovely little town 6 miles away and has a Laudrette, good supermarket etc... Well worth getting the train from Settle to Appleby on the famous railway line. The waterfalls at Ingleton 20 miles away are absolutely stunning.
