We stayed for one night at the site during July (for our eldest daughters birthday). There were 5 of us 2 adults and 3 kids (14, 12 and 4).

This site is not for those who love all the mod cons as frankly there arent any!

But the location and scenery are to die for. We really liked the site.Ok so the toilets arent exactly the Ritz and there isnt really a shower to speak of (not one we'd choose to use anyway), but its cheap and cheerful and as already mentioned the scenery is well worth the visit.

Gordale Scar is a few mintues walk and you can walk into Malham which is approx 1-2 miles away.

We would definitely visit again but only for one night due to the lack of showers.

We booked a week before our stay but it had rained quite a lot.On arrival the site was quite waterlogged and we had difficulty finding a pitch,we pitched on the far side of the beck carrying everything over the makeshift bridge. The toilets, washing up area and showers were I thought disgusting and never cleaned while we[myself and two adult sons ]were there. The water, one tap,was brown and very off putting. There were as others described lots of mounds of old bbq foils, air beds, chairs, gas cylinders and anything else people had left behind. The waterfalls and views were excellent

Just got home from a 2 night stay at this wonderful location. The location is stunning. We had the luxury of being next to the beck running through the campsite which was great for me and the children as we went for a paddle. Facilities well not exactly what I expected very basic which you would expect but the 'recycling' by the owner makes the facilities unpleasant. I was the only member of our group to use the shower. Sadly there is nowhere to have a private wash which would be good as only 1 shower.Cost wise wasn't to bad it was £3per item little confusing at first £3 per adult, car, tent and then we got charged £1 for 2 of our children and nothing for the youngest so it was £14per night for us not bad for a holiday really. Would go back to this site as the wonderful location beats the problems with the facilities.

This was our first camping trip for many years, and a truely enjoyable one it was. The site is great for exploring Gordale Scar and Janet's Foss Waterfalls. Did not use the shower but the toilets were kept clean although somewhat cluttered. The farmer was very accommodating and helpful. He showed us where to pitch our tent and then left us to it. He was more than helpful when I asked if it would be possible to reserve a pitch at the side of ours for the next day, and even placed a reserve sticker on the pitch.

This is a very busy site and in peak times you can expect to fall out of you door almost right into another one. Also a lot of children playing close to your accommodation which did not bother us. But could put some people of so be warned, also a lot of walkers passing through the site as the waterfall is at the far end of the site. Again this did not cause us any disturbance at all. There is a nice little coffee and tea van just outside the site so you can get a drink and a bite to eat after visiting the splendid sights of both waterfalls

Would go back again if in this area.

Just returned from campsite after a 2 night stay with my partner / other couples and friends (25-30 yr olds). Campsite is ok nothing special but camping is camping, facilities were 3 of each toilets, 1 shower for everyone to share, 2 washing up sinks with hot water.
The location is good lovely views, walk along stream through campsite to waterfall was lovely. Site is 1 mile from malham, quite a challenging walk to pubs! Cost was £3 pppn, £3 for car per night and £3 for tent per night.
Malcolm owner friendly, would recommend booking especially bank hols and if you are a group say you#re all families / couples. Overall had a fun stay.

This site is what you make it! Yes the facilities are very basic and I agree with previous comments about the strange collections of used BBQ foil trays and other stuff! But, for all that the site was clean, the location is FAB and the views are wonderful. The walk via Janet’s Foss (Waterfall) on a sunny day is lovely too.

I would recommend this site and will definitely be returning.

Visited Gordale Scar campsite last year and have very good memories still, it was windy and a little rustic with the facilities but thoroughly enjoyable, peaceful and I would recommend.
It is within easy walking distance for all the local walks and village (Pub) and the campsite facilities were Spartan but adequate, not the Ritz but still perfectly acceptable. The site was fairly in-expensive and very tidy.
Malcolm the owner was a funny chap and seemed to collect everything left behind in neat piles but was a top bloke, friendly and helpful. I would recommend this site to all.

 Bizzarre ! Surreal ?

Strange owner, but friendly nonetheless. What is the name for an avid collector of foil trays, I ask myself ?

So after driving through the gates and meeting this strange being, and witnessing a couple of large rats run in front of the car, I wondered what we had let ourselves in for. But location / site / scenery-wise, it was amazing. This really is a beautiful part of the WORLD, not just a beautiful part of the Yorkshire Dales.

To walk along the river towards the scar in beautiful peace, only to round the rocky corner to be met by a wall of sound from the amazing falls was wonderful, indescribable (though I am trying). It really was as though someone was switching the sound on / off.

This alone made me forget all about the far-off world of eccentrics and resident rats.

Cheap and cheerful. As someone says, don't expect the Ritz. Basic, bog-standard camping is what is offered and what you get. With stunning location to boot.

Stayed over 4 nights and enjoyed every night of it. Nice running river or 'beck' should I say. Plenty of places to visit in the surrounding area. The owner, Malcom is a very friendly fellow who works hard to organise the site. There are a couple of electric hook ups, showers, shaver point and of course toilets and washing area are all kept clean. We even had a boy band there, sampros. A good site all in all

On First arrival to the site we noticed it was really busy and feared not getting on but luck was on are side and we got last two pitches. Most pitches have good shade but where we was we had no shade but was at the far end of the campsite and got fantastic views of the Scar and was a bit quieter, apart from at about 5 in the morning when you get woken up by the crys of sheep but the peaceful trickling of the stream is rather soothing.

Facilities on the site are basic toilets and washbasins not the cleanest but at end of the day its what you expect when in the Yorkshire dales, however there is only one shower for the whole campsite which can get busy as your waiting for people but luckily for me I never encountered that and at 10p for a 2 min shower more than enough time and very refreshing, also only two sinks for washing up but at the end of the day a bit of waiting never killed anyone.

Fantastic views and may I recommend a walk down into the scar too the waterfall and climb up the waterfall and over the scar you encounter fantastic views and good if you like a challenge brings you out near malham Tarn. Great place in general to go walking round and a good base start point also recommend a walk down pennine way through comb scar breath taking views once again and brings you out at top of malham cove.

So as a summary fantastic site as long as you don't mind slightly dirty facilities friendly Farmer that owns it, fantastic walks, great views and great for getting a tan, still say its best suited to tents though there is what I saw to be two electric hook up points, not too bad price wise but there are cheaper sites but I'd go back and recommend it to anyone that likes a little adventure!
