This has to be one of the best locations for a campsite we have been to, the views and surrounding area are spectacular.
The site is flat and has a stream passing through it.
There are plenty of places to walk and Janets Foss is a popular walk with most visitors.
The toilets are quite basic but ok.
The owner is friendly and there if you need help or advice.
We have stayed here three times now and we will definitely be back.
Highly recommended

This site is in beautiful surroundings. Gordale Scar is at the end of the site footpath.
The site costs £3 per person plus £3 per tent and £3 per vehicle. The pitches are relatively flat if you look around. It is a little boggy in places at the moment due to the heavy rain recently.
The facilities are basic but adequate when the site is empty. The shower (there is only 1) is 10p for 2 mins 15 seconds. Nearby in Malham there is a shop, cafe and pub that serves good food.
There is a river that runs through the site which is quite relaxing when trying to sleep. But be aware if you have small children as it is deep in places.
I was lucky the site was empty and the sun was shining and it was midweek. I would imagine that this site does get very busy on a weekend due to its location.
There is only one bin (a skip) on the site and the only water point is next to the toilet block so it could mean a trek to get your water. Overall this is a basic site in fabulous settings. I think the price for one person ie £9p.n. is a little excessive considering the facilities. I cant really comment on customer service as I only spoke to the man that took payment.
I would visit this site again.

The previous reviews on this sites' scenery are so true. You would be hard pressed to find anything better.
The site is basic. This should be borne in mind if you want everything spic and span.
We foolishly took our caravan, this I wouldn't recommend to anyone, due to the narrow road.
It was down to pure good look that we didn't meet anything either arriving or leaving.
That said we were so glad we took the trip.
The area is fantastic for walking. Even the kids loved it.
Who needs play grounds and swings when you have natures facilities available to you?
The stream provided much pleasure all weekend.
We were fortunate to be able to have electric. This is on an extension lead, only two are available to the site.
But if you want it for TV viewing, forget it!
After walking all day though, we enjoyed the peace and quite the site offered. Only used the electric for the fridge and cooking.
A must for a relaxing time, but would only recommend tents or campers for it.

The campsite is in a beautiful setting and a short walk from the scar, the campsite forms part of a circular walk to the scar, malham tarn, cove and village which is a scenic 7. 5 mile walk.
Having read previous reviews was expecting the camp site to have basic facilities. I have been camping for over 20 years and these were basic! There was one shower for 10p and this was for gents & ladies. The ladies toilets has 3 loos and 3 sinks all had hot water but we definitely did not find them to be clean as commented on by previous reviewers.
There were overflowing open bins with sanitary products in all toilets and the toilets had not been cleaned for some time. There was lots of clutter in all of the 'facilities'.
At the toilets and main entrance there is a mountain of waste left by campers. Discarded air beds, used disposable bbq's plastic and glass bottles etc etc etc. The washing up area has 2 sinks with plenty of hot water but an accumulation of discarded camping paraphernalia and food! It was not clean when we were there.
Malham village is 30minutes walk away and has 2 pubs. We had a good meal at The Lister Arms although they were a bit disorganised with the food ordering system and we waited about an hour for our food. The other pub we thought was overpriced and not as good - we had lunch there.
At £3 per person per night plus £3 per car and tent this is good value for money with the scenery but be prepared for the very basic facilities, which could be better for a kim and aggy visit!

A really fab place to visit, once you've been you have to go back. The facilities are basic but then again very tidy site for the price paid at this time of year. The guy does his utmost to look after the site, by improving this site it would take away its charm. The village is a lovely walk with two alternative routes. All in all this is what we call a camp site not the ritz but a lot cheaper than the ritz and maybe more enjoyable for some. The setting is a must not to be missed, we will certainly be paying a visit this coming season.

The site is at the base of gorsdale scar which allows you to set the tent up with a unique view for when you wake. The owner is very friendly and prices are quite fair. The facilities are clean and usable.
On a downside the drinking water is a questionable yellow colour and there appeared to be a large amount of rubbish collecting by the owners house, although this had been sorted into piles of disposable BBQ's inflatable beds etc. And this might have been from a large event previous to our arrival. Another point to consider is that it is a steep walk back up to the local village a mile away.
I would recommend the site as it's nice and quiet and out of the way.

Chose this particular campsite due to it appearing on 'One Man and his Campervan', featuring Martin Dorey, Can be found on YouTube if you want to see footage of the campsite, Me and my wife were gobsmacked with the location, so we both agreed we had to go there, We went up on the Friday late afternoon, The campsite was pretty busy, about 3/4 full, There were quite a few tents pitched up right next to the stream, (One of the best spots) Think they were a Duke Of Edinborough bunch, So we just pitched up temporary for the night, hoping we'd get a spot there the next day, My wife started cooking some tea, My daughter and I fetched some water from near the shower block, It was a bit discoloured but was ok for cooking, making a cups of tea, and then after wandered down to see the spectacular sight at the foot of the campsite, Gobsmacked to say the least, Got some brilliant photo's with my two kids and wife, There is a path up the waterfall which takes you Malham Cove I think, My daughter was in a pushchair so we went no further, The next morning we went for a shower, like other people have said, not the cleanest but it does the job, We were lucky enough to get a spot right next to the stream, My 4 year old boy at the time loved playing in the stream, We visited Janet's Foss over the road, Another one of natures hidden Gems, A lovely waterfall which paddled in for a while, would have swam but it was a tad cold, after, we walked into Malham which was about a half hour walk for us, We had two pints of cider each, In The Listers Arms, A very nice welcoming pub, There's also a pub down the road called The Buck Inn, We didn't visit Malham Cove, but will be when
We visit again next month, Overall would recommend staying, A good base set with amazing views, the owner who runs it might be a little odd but nice enough, Cheap enough per night,
Can't wait to get back there!

My family and I have visited this site most years since 2006. It is really tremendous. I would be surprised to find a better setting in all of England.
The facilities are fine but basic. Always clean though. The Scar itself is a spectacular sight and only 10 min walk from the campsite.
Walk down the stream the other way and it is a very pleasant 30 min walk to Malham where you will find two good pubs and a beautiful village.
Unfortunately I am not sure we will be going back. The popularity of the site as exploded due to numerous reviews in the national press singing its praises.
The owner really struggles to cope with the volume of interest. When booking I got his answer machine message which almost made me feel sorry for him. There was real despair in his voice. He manages the site to the best of his ability but he really needs more staff and more stringent campsite rules. But if it becomes more of a campsite than working farm it will lose a lot of its charm.
Its beauty has become its curse.

A fabulous site in a fabulous setting, what more could you ask for. This is a camp site on a working farm and is excellent value for the money the views are stunning.
There was always plenty of hot water in the shower and the wash up area. The site was busy but there was always hot water and toilet rolls the facilities are basic but were kept clean and tidy.
A trip to see the Peregrine Falcons nesting at Malham Cove is a must. Nice couple of pubs serving good beer in the village, also couple of tearooms/cafes can, t comment on them as we didn't use them.
Great camp site plenty to do in the area we would have no hesitation in recommending this site.

Just got back from a great weekend at Gordale Scar campsite. At £3 per item (person, car, tent - no charge for dogs) very reasonable and the views are stunning.
We arrived on Thursday and had plenty of space to choose a pitch, although by Friday evening it was getting pretty busy. Malcolm tries to keep certain types of campers in certain areas so families and groups are away from couples, with DofE in a separate area as well.
If you've got dogs, be aware that sheep roam free in the field, so if they have strong hunting / herding instinct, you might want to keep them staked up.
Facilities are not bad, although basic. Plenty of odds and ends left by other campers if you have left anything - bbq's galore! There's no shop on site and Malham didn't seem to have much in the way of a shop that we found, but we took plenty of food in advance.
Plenty of walks in the surrounding area, the car didn't move all weekend and had some great food at the Listers Arms in Malham - the Nutty Black was very moreish.
If you live by your mobile, you'll feel like you have had an arm cut off, but if you want peace and quiet, you can't beat Gordale Scar. Already planning to go back!
