What a lovely holiday park, spent 7 days in our Montana 6 tent during Whitsun week. Weather was good, 4 hot days out of 7.
They have just opened a brand new swimming pool, which is great for the kids.
Park is well laid out and has its own beach.
This is our 2nd visit to Pentewan and this is a top class park.Asda and tesco are 10 minutes drive away which is good for your shopping.
Toilets and amenities are clean and modern only exception is the water pressure on the washing up hot taps is poor.
The bar complex is brand new also and the entertainment they had on was a missed bag. 3 nights the acts on were really good however the remaining 4 nights was really poor with their own entertainment team doing a few songs. This was disappointing and they need to sort it out for the main holiday season because the bar was full on the act nights but the opposite on the other nights.
I am not sure if they are trying to go up market Because there is also a new gym area adjacent to the pools. This was not open during the weeks stay. I did hear comments in the bar that there was nothing to do for teenagers because the play area for the children with game machines and pool tables has disappeared .Not sure if they have this planned in for a later development.
Overall I would say sort out the entertainment so you have a professional act on 5 nights out of 7.
The soft play area did cater well for the younger kids whilst the adults could have a drink in the bar.
Pentewan is a good park the staff are friendly and they have invested heavily to upgrade the site

Visited this site for a week during half term hols and over the May bank holiday weekend. Fantastic location, beautiful beach, lovely new pool complex and children's play area. Well stocked shop and takeaway.
Toilet blocks/showers were kept constantly clean and tidy even though the site was fully booked and busy.
Only negative points would be that the shop and takeaway was extremely pricey and also, the pool complex could benefit from a few more changing rooms.
We hired bikes from the village and followed the cycle trail. We didn't try any of the entertainment because the weather was so good that we were outdoors most of the time and were too tired to bother in the evening so we sat outside our caravan looking out onto the gorgeous beach.
Will definitely be returning to this site and would highly recommend it.

A fantastic camp site, very big pitches, close to a lovely beach. Toilets and showers kept clean. New swimming pool and club were both very good. Shop and takeaway on site 'Very' expensive.
A lovely area to visit with cycle rides and walks near by.
Unfortunately when we were there, there were very noisy people on campsite in the evenings loud music and talking till midnight).

What can I say but a fantastic campsite, right on the beach. Nice clean toilet/shower block and a fantastic new club / swimming leisure complex with brill entertainment. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Lovely big pitches which were grassed. Well stocked shop, a nice take away but very pricey. Lots of night time security with a front barrier for which you needed a card to access. Would definitely return

What a wonderful site!
We stayed in their 3 bed caravan in the Willows part of the park, it was fantastic. The Site was clean, friendly and quiet.
The access to the beach was marvellous and the complex very clean. A nice cup of tea and coffee was served by the site.
Already booked for 2011 and also taking the in-laws who are going to stay in the Retreat which I'm looking forward to having a look at.
Nearby Lost Gardens of Heligan are well worth a visit and the cafe there serves wonderful food.
Site is secured by a barrier.
The only criticism I have is the soft play area is 3 floors high and a door at the top and bottom and on the 1st night the bottom door was left unlocked which could have caused a problem.

Just returned from a fantastic week at Pentewan sands.
We stayed in a static and were in D24 right next to the cliffs and only yards from the beach.
The shop on site does everything you need, there is also a take away which was quite expensive. We only went in the bar a couple of times for a drink, but they serve food too.
I can't fault the site at all, the caravan was fab, the staff were friendly.
It was a very quiet site and very clean.
The Ship Inn in Pentewan does lovely food, we went one day around 5 pm and good job we did as by 6 pm there were people hanging about for our table.
We did have one very windy night and when we woke up the poor people opposite tent had ripped.
The beach is lovely, a mixture of shingle and sand, but we all went crabbing in the rock pools over by the cliffs.
Mevagissey is a mile away and well worth a visit, such a pretty little harbour.
We would definitely go again and I would recommend this site to everyone.

Pentewan sands is set in a beautiful location just outside mevagissey. Ttoilet blocks were dated compared to a few sites I've been on but never once had to queue. Facilities on site were good, outdoor pool, amusement arcade and best of all being the private beach on site which is fantastic if your a water sport fan. Evening entertainment was pretty good, with bingo reaching £465.00 for a full house, well worth a pound a go. Pint of lager £3 which was pretty steep. There is so much to do within a 30 mile radius including looe, polperro, st austell, all beautiful fishing harbours. Overall a great week with overcast weather which I consider good for this country in august

Stayed here for a week in August, all I can say is what a wonderful site. Children really loved it and the beach was wonderful. We stayed in e47 which was a 5 min walk to the beach. St Austell was not very nice but I believe they are building a cinema and generally regenerating the town centre so maybe next year will be better. Shop on site was large and everything you need is there, but be warned it is very expensive. Tesco and asda are 3 miles away so go there to stock up.Club house was very dated and well worn but there are plans to demolish the pool, bar club house and arcade and they are building a new block for the season next year 2010. Site was clean, well laid out and extremely busy but it seemed like everyone had enough room. Weather was torrential rain for 4 days but that's not the camp sites fault!. Caravan was stunning, clean well fitted out and in a good location. The ship Inn was not far away but we never ate there but I hear it is good. Most def going back next year and this time we are booking for 2 weeks

We stayed here the first week in August after reading the reviews and seeing the site we decided to see for ourselves. Our pitch number was C65 and it was HUGE, room for caravan, awning, windbreaker garden (don't usually use them but everyone else did here) and room to spare too! We were also straight across from the toilet block and only a few rows from the sea, would def book this pitch again. We arrived at around 2pm and am glad we did, this avoided the queue to get on at 10 and went straight on our pitch.
What can I say? It was everything I had read about plus more, I can't fault anything. Shop/takeaway was great, club we only went in once but seemed ok and my daughter loved her kid cocktails. Kids loved the beach especially near the river. The walk into Mevagissey is very hilly as you would expect with a coastal path, my daughter has asthma so we found it easier to go via the road on her bad days, but worth it as it's such a lovely harbour ( plus all that hill walking worked off the icecreams mmm) Lots of places around to visit.
All good points, and if I have to think of one bad point it would be the fairy lights. I thought it was christmas! Some sort of competition with the regular visitors maybe to see who can decorate their vans the most? So if you want to join in before you go buy fairy lights, oh and a flag too!
Would go again, possibly next May.

Pentewan is a good site. It’s nice and clean and well organised with pitches large enough for a caravan, awning and car plus room for outside tables etc. The site leads directly to the beach without having to cross any roads and the sandy beach is long and generally quite safe and there are some good rock pools on the western side. Whilst it’s their own private beach, I would suggest that Pentewan employ some people to patrol the beach to collect the small amounts of litter that were getting left behind.
The toilets/showers were clean and good enough, even if occasionally there was a small queue to use them.
The shop was quite large and well stocked with reasonably priced goods.
The pool is a good size and never seem to be too crowded.
The local pub (The Ship) is very handy and the food is quite good too but be prepared to wait quite some time for a table, especially at weekends.
On leaving the site the road can be a little tricky with the speed of the traffic coming from the St Austell direction.
Overall, I’d recommend this site. You don’t need to leave the site for anything but It’s handy for Mevagissy and there are a few supermarkets (Asda/Tesco) within a few minutes drive. There’s also Dimonos and Pizza Hut nearby too.
