This is a wonderful site for so many reasons.
1. Situation - perfectly positioned on the South Cornwall coast with own private beach and easy walking into Pentewan village.
Short walk into Mevagissey (very hilly though, so not for the unfit!)
2. Amenities - there is nothing missing in my opinion (well stocked shop, swimming pool, gym, social bar, entertainment, boat launching facilities, good shower block, electric hook-up, water taps, waste disposal).
I have only one criticism and that is the difficulty in joining the road when leaving the site (vision poor in both directions especially when driving a motorhome) because traffic on the road is travelling quite fast.

We have just returned from pentewan again, they do seem to be taking notice of some of what people are saying, they have installed an arcade again although it is a bit on the small side, a new beach bar has been added it is first class. The seahorse centre still does not come up to the old club house, still no stage the entertainers still have to stand on the floor and perform limiting to what acts can appear.
The exit to the site is very blind you can start to pull out and before you now it a car has come round the blind bend having to brake to avoid a collision, this could be easily resolved by fixing a mirror on the other side of the road.
All the other facilities are first class 4 spotless toilet blocks cleaned regular, the on site shop is a bit expensive but Asda & Tesco are only five minutes down the road, The village of Pentewan is a lovely the pub is first class serving quality food.

I went to Pentewan Sands with my husband and 2 children aged 3 and 9, this was the first time we have been here and we will be back next year!
After many years of camping (normally in Devon) We would have to say this was the best holiday yet, The campsite was right on the beach, The pool was great, if you wanted entertainment in the evening it was provided! Tesco and Asda only 10 minute drive away, St Austell had a selection of Takeaways, As a family on a budget every thing we could ask for! Ok, two out of the four toilet blocks could do with updating but it is a great site, no matter what kind of holiday you are looking for, The beach is child friendly, the sea is safe for the children, with safe swimming area separate from the boat launching area. BY 11:30pm the only noise you could hear was the sea! Most pitches flat and well drained if it rains! ( felt very safe as they have security visible 24hrs)

The camp site is wonderful the pitches big enough to fit our big tent(weathermaster xl), the trailer, kayak, and a wind break creating a cooking area and our landrover, with extra space!
The beach is clean and safe, when ever your on it it feels like your the only people there. Theres also a boat launching area too! In the kayak we go out when the tides low and get to see all the little private beaches around the rocks and coves when there is no access any other way, its great!
The toilets and facilities are always clean, the showers free and at a good temperature. Been in there at the middle of the night and they are being cleaned. Theres also a bath but at an extra charge from reception but it's kept clean.
Its very safe and well mannered, security guards roam at night and put a stop to any loud and disturbing parties/behaviour after a suitable time.
The entertainment at the club is always nice something different than before and suits all ages through out the night as well as kids activities during the day.
There are two little play areas one in the woods and one on the beach, shame though this time the swings on the beach weren't there any more.
Two pools one with a small slide and a big slide another, for adults only (at certain times) and also an adult only jacuzzi.
Laundrette available if wanted washing machines £5 takes 20 minutes, tumble dryers also available(very handed on a wet day!) and free irons and ironing boards.
The local village is small and friendly, when we went the village was having a Gala and it was lovely to go down and have a bit of fun. Also there was a duck race around in the local area raising money for charities, that was brilliant!
The harbour is delightful you can spend all evening there, its quiet peaceful and great for crabbing, there are loads of little shops to nosey in and out of.
The campsite shop is well stocked (a little over priced as expected) with all sorts of camp gear if anything goes slightly down the wrong path (like air beds - always a disaster with me!) as well as a freshly baked section (for a quick meal) and other foods. Theres also a take away next door and a bar/beach hut on the beach.
The signals not all that great, don't expect to be texting! but there is a decent signal for a radio and pay telephones by reception for making calls.
To be warned the road exiting the site is a little bit difficult but that with the swings is the only faults I can point out.
Its a lovely camp site and would highly recommend it suitable for all ages. This is our third visit and we are going back next year! (and probably the year after that!)
Hope you enjoy your stay(s) as much as we did!

Just returned from the site itself a few days ago.
What can I say the site still hasn't lost its majesty from the 6 years or so that I last visited.
The weather was sadly horrendous with only 2 days out of 7 being sunny.
Having spoke to a few regular goers and I can honestly agree with them myself. The facilities have changed, but not for the better. Its nice that they have incorporated a gym, indoor pool and jacuzzi- 2 of the latter are in with the price you pay.
This however has encroached massively on the original design of the entertainment building. The restaurant is now shoved upstairs in the corner.
The main function room design as been compromised massively, removing the stage at one end and putting it in the middle- but instead of a raised stage it was more of a goal mouth. The entertainment crew seems to be dwindling slightly too.
Its not all bad - a new beach restaurant has opened situated right one the sea front. The food is magnificent, also its at a very reasonable price given the portions you get!
The shop is well stocked for the essentials but ASDA is only a 5 minute car ride into St Austell.
Still in my eyes the best Campsite in the south west. Even though the new facilities arent a patch on the old layout, they're still head an shoulder above what you'd get anywhere else!

Had a week at this site beginning July and in my opinion it is fantastic!
Hubby and I took touring caravan and were lucky to get pitch with fantastic sea views. This site I would rate 10 out of 10. There is indoor pool with jacuzzi, shop on site, bar with entertainment although we did not really use bar in evening.
The pitches are a good size so you don, t feel crammed in. There is also a lovely bistro on beach front. The fishing harbour of megavissy is just a couple of miles away and worth a visit.
We only booked a week there but I wish I had booked two. Shower and toilets are good and kept clean.

This is a fabulous site and location. We stayed for two weeks in June on a beachside pitch. We would sum up the fortnight as wonderful! The sand was soft and clean and was greatly appreciated by our two year old girl.
The play area, although simple, was on the sand and therefore less worrisome for falls. Attention did need to be paid to the little one to prevent dashes to the sea.
Site facilities were first class. The showers were hot and plentiful, although it would have been nice to regulate the temperature for the toddler. Hairdryers would have been appreciated too.
The Seahorse Centre and Driftwood Bar were pleasant to visit, not the cheapest but the quality was very good. We had drinks and ate in both, it was clear that, as other reviewers have said about the Seahorse Centre, there appeared to be a reluctance to wipe tables and clear up when customers left.
Perhaps there were staffing issues when we visited? The shop was handy when we wanted the basics in between visits to the Asda at St Austell.
The pool area was great fun, but at some times on some days did get busy, which gave a taster for what it would be like during the school holidays. Even when busy it was possible to find a quiet corner, as most congregated around the slides. There was a long pool for serious swimmers that we never saw used by more than five people.
We were pleasantly surprised when we tuned the TV with the aerial roughly pointed north, to get all Freeview digital channels (no analogue) we had a brilliant picture quality that sometimes went blocky for a moment or two. T Mobile reception was available most of the time but did drift in and out.
In summary an excellent, well managed site that we look forward to visiting next year.

Have been going to Pentewan Sands for 26 years on and off. The first 4 or 5 years camping, then with trailer tent and then a towing caravan, the last years in a static van. On D field mostly. My children and grandchildren now have their holidays there. We all love it there. It is so central for West and East Cornwall for trips out. Just one thing I would like to mention is access to beach from D field is obstructed by campers wind-breakers on sea front blocking access to children to beach. There only access is the boat launching driveway. Which is not ideal, I hope they can address this matter.

What a beautiful site,so clean they even cleaned the beach by hand. The toilets and showers were spotless. The club is a lovely new building very bright and cheerful, doing lovely meals, being very good value we ate out often.
The only problem we had with the club was even though there was lots of seating outside for us smokers there wasn't any cover from the wet weather we had.
The shop was well stocked but a little pricey but you expect this from site shops.
The surrounding area is outstanding, although some roads very narrow when towing a tourer.
Charlestown is a must such a charming little harbour with about 6 gift shops and a couple of pubs, the hotel at the bottom of the harbour does a beautiful cream tea.
We only stayed a week due to the weather, but if the weather had been better who knows how long we would had stayed there.

Have returned to Pentewan after a couple of years. Feel they have made some great improvements to an already brilliant site. The indoor pool is great, the kids loved it although only has around 6 changing cubicles- woefully inadequate.
We also loved the new beach bar right on the beach, which served lovely food. My husband had a fish dish which he felt was better than a meal we had had in Mevagissey.
The Ship Inn is also great with a lovely beer garden. The site itself feels very safe, felt quite happy letting the kids wander around and go to the play area by themselves.
We don't bother with the entertainment as its not really our scene so can't comment on the new seahorse centre.
Lots of places to visit close by - a lovely little beach at Gorran Haven, Eden Project, enjoyed hiring bikes from pentewan as lovely little cycle track leading towards St Austell.
We enjoyed our time there so much we have booked to go camping there in August- 12 weeks and counting!
