Lovely site, right on beach, if you get near front right on beach, outdoor heated pool, nice pub next door, close to Mevagissey - lovely little port.
Cycle hire nearby, good cycling / walking, no dogs allowed, good caravan / tent / outdoor supplier close by on cycle track actually.
Booked again for 3 weeks 2005.
Club / entertainment on site. Kids club, large shop, boat launching on site also near St Austell - Eden project, Lost Gardens of Heligan, Dairyland for littlies and quite central for exploring Cornwall cant wait!

 31st July - 7th August
We have just had a week at this campsite and while our stay was wonderful, there are a couple of things which would make me hesitate to book again. All the campsite literature points to this being a family site with campers being asked for quiet after 11pm. Hmmm. We were aware of loud voices long after midnight. I am not convinced the site is that private either - there was easy access from Pentewan for all the local pouty teenagers (I'm a secondary school worker, I recognise them!). Also, the campsite prices. Why does everything have to be so marked up? The main road to Mevagissey is a loud one and our pitch was right by this! Finally, I wish there had been more example of the site workers working together as a team - on the last night we wanted to buy dinner for our kids to have at the club and every time we asked someone, in the shop or the snack bar, we got the response, 'Couldn't tell you'. Didn't give a very unified impression. However, we had a ball; our children adored the Pirates Club (no comment!) and we felt very safe and free from every day stresses. Anna

A big level site next to a great beach. We have two young children and the beach was just right for them with a sheltered inlet near one end and play area. Staff were friendly; good shop & takeaway, good sized heated outdoor pool and club house with good entertainment for the under 10s. Showers clean & worked well and not busy though the site was only half full. Plenty of space on the pitches for tent though try to avoid the area next to the enterance. Nice pub nearby and big Asda at St Austell (10 min drive)

Have been camping for over 10 years and know a good camp site when I see one, hated this site with a passion.Enormous site on the beach,
Very pricey, dirty, noisy, they will tell you how large the pitch is, what they dont tell you is,there is no where for the kids to play, the play area is miles down the beach and very inadequate fot the size of the site.Dont forget to take your wind breakers, you will need them.!
Not enough shower/toilet blocks two large blocks ,two tiny ,long queues for a shower.
Outdoor pool -OK until we saw a life guard come out wearing fully protective clothing topping up the chlorine with a bucket, not 6 inches from where kids were swimming wearing only a swimming costume,( health and safety may have had something to say about that I feel).
Site shop was extortionate, save your money drive 4 miles into St Austell and go to ASDA.
My kids were bored stupid after about 8pm when they had come off the beach, as there was nothing for them to do except go to the awful on site club, or hang around outside the shop, (a bit too much like home for my liking.)
The only good point about this camp site was the beach, which was beautiful, but this again had its downside, no lifeguard and the tides ,currents were extremely strong and frightening ,if you have small kids-beware.
This site could have been something really special, due to its location , but gives the impression of trying to make as much money as possible without putting anything back in, previous reviews have mentioned people that keep returning, they should widden there horizons there are much better sites for their money in the area.
It reminded me of Butlins in a Tent.!

This site has a fantastic location. We only managed to get a pitch by sheer chance when passing through. We were offerd a front row beachside all service pitch which was bit pricey at £27 pn. However, the pitch was flat a good size and had fantastic views. The site had good facilities shop, launderette, pool, pirate club for all kids, take away, bar and entertainment. The negagtives in my opinion were the long queues for the showers some which only trickled out and the amount of noise at 2am from merry campers leaving the club house and seemingly getting lost going back to their pitches. However, we were there in peak season. Evryone I met there had been going to this site for years 10+.so that probably speaks for itself. I would probably go again but not on a front row pitch. I would stay nearer the static vans towards the rear of the park away from a toilet block next time - advice given by a regular whos beeen going for 18years!

Wonderful location right on the beach. Clean facilities, but disappointed that at premium prices they aren't heated. Predominant wind direction is off shore, so be careful if indulging in watersports. There is an outdoor pool which wasn't open off season. Looks like a good place for a family holiday 'in season'.

Pentewan Sands is situated just behind the beach at Pentewan.

The site gets fairly crowded in the high season and has a mixture of static vans, tourers and tents. It is ideally placed for beach and water sports and is only 1 mile from Mevagissy and about 4 miles from St Austell. Last time visited, which was about 4 years ago, it had good facilities including toilet blocks, take away, shop etc but I cannot remember if it had a pool.

Be warned that most beaches in that area ban dogs in the summer so if you have one your choice of beaches will be limited to the less popular ones further down the coast. The village of Pentewan has a good restaurant and pub and even a Thai restaurant. I am sure you will enjoy it, provided you get good weather. If its wet there is a good cinema in St Austell and the site will have plenty of fliers advertising everything from museums and tin mines to Quad bikes
