The pitches are massive. Each pitch had it own electric hookup and water supply.
We stayed with a group of about 6 others and we had dayrooms / gazeboos, canopies up and windbroke off the whole area. It was lovely, our own bit of space.
The site has its own private beach which is very clean and spacious.
The facilities are good although I found the takeaways to be pricey, but hey, get the BBQ on. Tesco & Asda are 10 mins away and a great farm shop 5 mins away so no probs getting good food to cook.
Can't wait to go back this year and see how the new developments have taken place.
The toilets and showers always seemed clean and the bins were regularly emptied.
Highly recommended for a family holiday.

We were booked into this site for a weeks stay sat - sat on the thursday before the camp rang me to say our pitch was free from friday if we wanted to travel down and miss the Saturday traffic and offerd it us half price which I gladly accepted. It took us 10hrs to get there and we arrived about half 9 Friday night which they had no problem with. We stayed in the f field which is on grass tiers and all the pitches were grass but a good size with electric and a shared tap. The toilet block and shower we used was the big one in the middle of the park and was very clean and always hot water from the showers. The shop on site is very well stocked but a little pricey. The outdoor pool was always clean and lifeguarded. The food on site was nice both from the bar and takeaway. The club is on the small side though and is hard to get a seat they do bingo and its non profit making so mega money! I highly recommend this site for mainly younger familys and people into watersports ect our kids loved it so did we and would go back.

We stayed here (me, husband and two girls, 13 & 11) for a fortnight in August 2009. What really attracted us to the site, as I'm sure is the case for most people, was its private beach. Even though we were there in what's probably their busiest period, the beach was never packed, which made it easy to spend the morning elsewhere, and hit the beach in the afternoon without worrying about having nowhere to sit.
The site itself is huge, with a well stocked shop that has a fantastic bakery section. There is also a takeaway which we used once or twice.
The swimming pool was a little small in my opinion, and was always full to the brim making it difficult to use.
The shower block was always quiet before 9am, but the shower cubicles themselves could do with more shelves inside to hang clothes and towels.
Mevagissey is a fairly short (but quite intense in places) walk across the hills, but is worth it when you get there, with some lovely shops and some nice bars and restaurants.
The only complaint I really have about the site is the layout of the pitches, and how close this meant you are to your neighbours. Even though the pitch was one of the biggest I've had, it would be nicer if they sacrificed a few and planted some hedges here and there to create a bit more privacy. I fully appreciate that as a caravanner, you're never going to be very far away from anybody, but because of the layout of the pitches, we were literally surrounded on each side which I didn't like so much.
If we do ever go back, it will be in a lower season. I feel the layout of the pitches and the facilities are better suited to less people all at once.

Have just returned from a two week stay at this campsite, it has all the facilities for a family whether the children are young or teenagers. The outdoor pool was lovely and had plenty of sunbeds and tables, the waitress service that was offered from the bar was also a big plus. The clubhouse was good with entertainment on every night, also serving food throughout the day and the meals were very nice. The shop was well stocked, the only gripe about the shop was that although it does have a cashpoint it was out of order more than it was working, however there was another cashpoint at Pentewan Village which is within walking distance, and would then give you a chance to visit the local pub The Ship Inn which was lovely.
The toilets were clean and tidy but would benefit from staggering the cleaning times as sometimes they did seem to be closed all at the same time.
The beach was fanatastic and the fact that it was just for this sight alone made it all the better, it was good that it was also sectioned off for boats and swimming which made it safe for the children. Think that the beach could benefit from having watersport facilities available.
Our daughters took up the offer to learn to scuba dive whilst at the site and really enjoyed both the first lesson in the pool and then the diving in the sea at Mevagissey. This is the village within walking distance from the site although it is quite strenous but well worth the walk at it is a lovely small fishing village and has some nice pubs and the fish and chips are lovely.
The only problem we found was on arrival as travelling from the North of the country decided to travel overnight to avoid the traffic so arrived at the site at approximately 7am were told to park our cars in a field opposite the site to wait until the reception opened, which was ok. However after checking in at 8.30am we then went to collect our cars and the gate was locked, we were then told that they would be locked until 10am even though our pitches were empty. Meanwhile people arriving after us were allowed to go straight onto there pitch. So if you arrive early do not go into the overflow car park you would be better having a drive to Mevagissey until after 8am.
Even with this gripe we are definitely thinking about booking for next year and would also recommend this site to anyone wanting to visit Cornwall as it would be very hard to find a site offering such a relaxing and fun holiday.

Lovely site very impressive when you first come in at the reception area. Dont make mistake we made and drive right up to barrier without booking in first as you need swipe card and there was a queue of cars behind us- park at the side first.
Nice big shop which has mini bakery that sells pasties and sausage rolls etc.Shop was reasonably priced well stocked. Snack shop sold fish and chips (around £7.50) kids meals £3.99 etc.
We had premier pitch near beach, lovely big size ideal for our tent(gelert tahoma) day tent and landrover, with still room left.Only problem is down to weather it was very windy and no shelter hence our day tent the poles snapped and our tent was severely tested. As ground was slightly uneven when we had severe rain caused flooding some tents on site were waterlogged, so if your in a caravan you'll be ok there!
Toilets nice and clean block next to pool is even better more modern.
Pool is nice and clean, bearable warmth! Only got to use it once due to bad weather.
Beach is very clean water clean although hurts to walk on your bare feet on sand.My daughter loved flying her kite on the beach (buy them cheap in the shop) Playground is just a climbing frame and 2 small children's swings on beach the other small children's area is at the pub area.
Ship inn as mentioned in many posts is lovely and beer garden is great.Have to mention the tea shop near it does the most gorgeous cream teas mmm.
Nothing to do within walking distance of the site.Short drive about 3 mile to asda, tesco and aldi for shopping. Eden project, lost gardens of heligan and shipwreck centre and others not to far away.
Evening entertainment great, kids club great.£10.50 jug of 4 pint beer plus raffle ticket every £10 spent to win meal in restaurant and luxury hamper every week, and bingo every night good money prizes.
Only criticism of this site is its very bad getting out of site as cars approach on both sides on a bend on a busy road could do with a sign to warn traffic.

Just came back from 5 nights at Pentewan Sands and we were very pleased with the whole stay. We stayed in a tent with electric hook up. The pitches do vary a lot in size and ours was on the small side compared to some of the other tent pitches but nothing to small to bother us. The shower blocks are adequate and fairly clean but could probably do with some modernisation. The site has an excellent shop where you can buy local produce and just about anything else you might need. The bar / club has a good atmosphere and is well stocked and sells food in the day and evening. We didn't eat in the bar as we were situated over the far side of the campsite near Pentewan village where you will find the Ship Inn which we ate at 4 times. The food is excellent with a good choice and there is a good range of real ales and cider to wash the food down with. In half term when we went the pub got really busy and we had to wait a while for a table as they do not accept bookings, But there is a nice garden outside where the kids could play. The beach is excellent, The sea most days was very calm and ideal for Kayaking etc. The only downside to the beach was the lack of watersport facilities provided by the campsite. There is a scuba diving centre in the middle of the beach and what looked like a sailing club at the far end of the beach which looked like it hired out quite large sailing craft which were far to advanced for us. It needed sports like Kayaking, Windsurfing ect catering for as I think the demand would be very high as we found at other smaller beaches like Polkerris. The walk over the cliffs to mevagissey is very nice but strenuous with two young children but the rewards are worth it when you get there, It is a lovely fishing village with a good range of shops and restaurants. We would definitely recommend the site and will going back in the future.

We stumbled across what I think is Cornwall's best kept secret on UK Campsite camp site search whilst looking for a site that I call in between commercial and quiet and this ticks all boxes for me.
Set in the quiet Cornish village of Pentewan, Pentewan Sands is quite a large site offering touring / camping and static van holidays (although there are not too many statics). On arrival we booked in at reception (10.30am!) and was provided with all the necessary information about the site then shown where our pitch was. We were in the 'F' field which is located towards the rear of the site nearest to the road which we were dubious about noise from the road but it was the only field where we could book 4 pitches together. I have to say that if / when booking again I would opt for F field everytime, the space we had for four pitches was amazing and the noise from the road was minimal. We were also sheltered from the sea breeze. There are some fabulous beach side pitches available but I think you have to gamble on having good calm weather with these.
The site has great on-site facilities:
Ample shower blocks which were always clean when I used them and given that it was Spring Bank holiday and the site was full I never had to queue once.
Good sized shop with bakery and all the essential items and more and not over priced.
A takeaway offering pasties burgers and chips etc. We only used this once and it was fine.
The on-site bar / club was good although it was very busy and you struggle to get a seat if not there early but there is an alternative quieter bar downstairs.
The on site outdoor pool was good (but cold!) however kids under 15 had to be accompanied by an adult. At busy times the length of the pool was shortened by the lifeguard which made things worse and I for one could not understand the logic with this.
The best on-site facility was the beach! a mixture of sand and shingle (which can hurt a bear foot) but us and the kids loved it.
Locally, Mevagissey is beautiful place and only a five minute drive from the site. Pentewan is a nice small village with the local pub (Ship Inn) which has a good, reasonably priced menu on offer. Supermarkets are plentiful in St Austell (10mins)
For us this site is one of the best we have stayed at and whilst there tried to book again for August (to no surprise completely full) but will certainly be visiting here next year.

This was my 'maiden voyage' in a tent (apart from a largely forgotten soggy experience as a Girl Guide over 20 years ago) so I really didn't know what to expect. We visited as part of Dive Fest and we were part of a big group. Check-in wasn't too bad - they struggled to find our booking but to be fair, it had been made by the group leader. He was adamant he'd left our names against our pitch numbers but the Reception staff were unable to find it. We got there in the end, even though I had to return to the Reception to tell them which pitch we should be on. Problems will always occur but to me customer service is measured by how they are resolved and I was happy with the service.
The pitch was level and we were able to park our car right next to the tent - an absolute 'must' in a 2-person tent when your other half is over 6ft tall and storage is non-existent. Even though it was May it was really cold at night due to the strong winds but the toilet and shower block was close by, very clean and mercifully lovely and warm! I feel the cold terribly so I had to drag myself away.
We didn't check out many of the facilities, except the shop, which was big and very well stocked. The take-away was great if you wanted a traditional British bacon / sausage / egg bap and the guys serving were lovely and friendly but no good if your body is a temple and you want something even vaguely healthy. After a weekend I never wanted to see bacon or a burger again!
The site is very exposed so when it rained and the wind picked up our brand new tent was severely tested but held up well. Still you have to brave the elements under canvas.
As part of the Dive Fest there was live music in the evening. It was very noisy up to about 11pm then everything went quiet - lovely!
The challenge for me as we look to book a weekend away camping is to find another site with such an excellent location (this is literally just off the beach) and with the same standard of facilities.

We stayed at this site for one week during the August bank holiday and it was great.
We stayed in one of the new static vans which was beautiful. Checking in was a bit of a nightmare but we didn't have to wait too long past the time given.
The beach is great but sand is more shingle really which got a bit sharp in some areas. The kids enjoyed the pool which was no way heated but they didn't seem to mind. Although the life guards don't really pay much attention.
The takeaway was rubbish overpriced and undercooked but I can't comment on the restaurant having not eaten there. The club was pretty good but a little pricey, if you like a good pint the pub in Pentewan village is your best bet and the food was lovely but go early as it seems to get pretty busy.
All in all its a great site in a great location and I would definitely return some day.

We stayed here in the busy August period. All the pitches were full. It is a large and busy site with a diverse range of holidaymakers, mostly comprising families. People are mainly in caravans with awnings, interspersed with large tents. There are a few motorhomes. The pitches are large and clearly marked. The facilities are clean and there is a sufficient amount for the amount of people. The site is fronted by Pentewan Sands beach; this is a large stretch of sandy beach, which is surprisingly not very busy (but it was quite windy and rainy when we stayed). It has a large shop with food and holiday products. There is a fish and chip shop. There is also nightly entertainment, but we never went to this. Quite a few people bring speedboats or jet skis with then. There is an outdoor swimming pool, which I think has been refurbished during winter 2008/09, and will be a covered pool. The surrounding area has easy access for the Eden Project, World of Model Railways, Cornish fishing villages (and boat/fishing trips). The Lost Gardens Of Heligan are easily found nearby. The nearest town is St. Austell, which has a range of supermarkets. Would I go again? Not sure, I would think about a smaller site first.
