 This was our 2nd visit to the site, we have visited in Oct school holidays 2010 and summer 2012(1st week of school holidays when the weather was glorious) So it's fair to say that we have experienced the site at its busiest and quietest times and we have loved it on both occasions.

The site is large and busy, but in peak season it did not feel cramped with our pitch feeling very spacious with room for the kids to play without bothering others. We were in area f which is the furthest from the sea but had lovely views of the rolling hills.

The seahorse centre was spacious with amazing views across the sea, it never felt cramped although I suspect this was because people were not using it as much because the weather was so good. The food was quite good but quite pricey kids meals that are served with the novelty of being in a bucket with a spade.

The beach is fab and I suspect that there is not a better placed site for such an amazing beach on hand.

My only slight moan is the showers are quite annoying being on a push button that lasts no time at all.

If you like a walk I would recommend the coast path to Mevagissey and back, it is quite challenging as it it very hilly but the views are amazing, my 6 & 8 year olds managed it fine despite the blazing heat

We will definitely visit again.

 The site is in an EXCELLENT location. The new Driftwood Bistro is great. But that's about it for the positives I'm afraid.

If this site were anywhere else than on a beach it would be classed as outdated, run down and overpriced.

Have been visiting here for the last 20 years and I have to say the place has declined over this period.

Pentewan Sands RELY on the close proximity to the beach to get customers. They have rested on their laurels for far too long and are now actually getting greedy.

They CHARGE their paying customers for WI-FI access. {Who else does. Anywhere?}

The overpriced shop still CHARGES for carrier bags.

CHARGE 30 percent extra for a sea front pitch, even if, as regularly happens they allow the Marines to use their private beach to set up camp in front of your unit. The corporate response to complaints is 'you pay extra for the proximity to the beach, not the view'. No. LISTEN to your customers. We pay for the view

The tiny children's play area really is a joke, I've seen far better on CCC sites. {Wasn't income generating}

The sports field where people could play football or cricket has now been filled with caravans. {Wasn't income generating}

The 'new' overpriced club house has no soul, character or even a stage for entertainers.

Mind you, it is also rented out for functions, so you may find, even as a paying resident and customer you are excluded from using it at all on certain nights.

The outdoor pool area with patio and sun loungers has gone. {Wasn't income generating}

The tennis courts are in a state of run down dis-repair. {Wasn't income generating}

The water disposal points are from a bygone era when buckets were used to collect waste. You can't empty a wastemaster type container in them due to their construction, so most of the grey water spills onto your pitch.

One toilet block still has the same worn, scuffed, loose and undersized toilet seats that were there 15 years ago.

Come on Pentewan stop taking and put something back into the site. Don't take your customers for granted. Because one day. They might. Just not come back

 Sorry to anyone who reads this but its a long one!This was our 1st time at Pentewan Sands. We found it on here and booked online a few months earlier, 1st thing to point out is they don't seem to email or send you any confirmation, even after I rang up and gave them my email again, so you don't know if your booked or not! I also spotted on their website that you can use a holding field from 6pm the day before your booking starts, again rang up just too make sure, yes just go to security and they will let you in the field. So after a 5-6hr journey I get there at 1am and go security I get told its £10 please or park up the road in a layby for free, now £10 is not a lot and would happy pay this on any site just thought it would be nice if they told you about it before you get there!

The site itself is quite big and the pitches are off good size but due too the recent weather they were quite muddy. We went to the club house on our 1st night for a meal and the entertainment and from the out side it looked very nice, but I gotta say once your in there and its a bank holiday weekend it's nowhere big enough, we did find a table in the end in the side room but the floor and tables looked dirty and not very clean. We ordered food and got some drinks, there was a 45min wait for the food but was not bad priced and was very good as for the drinks £4.20 for a bottle normal bulmers cider and £4.95 for the strawberry flavour need I say anymore, didn't go back in there again. Not sure what the entertainment was like as could not see it.

The showers near the village end near our pitch were a little out dated but I found them fine and clean and plenty of hot water with very good pressure.

The beach is great on the sunny days and made it much easier when you got young kids being so close to your pitch.

On one of the wet days we tried the pools, 30 min wait to get in because it had 75 people in fun pool and there only meant to have 55 or so we were told, yet in the over 16's pool there was about 8 people in it again the changing area is nowhere big enough. They need to use a time limit with different wrist bands on very busy days as behind me there must have been about 30 more people waiting to get in.

Did use there take away as it look over priced £4 for what they called a family size box chips £2.50 anywere else! didn't use the restaurant on the beach but it look very nice. Used the shop on site a few time seem just like any other site shop. Went too the next village Mevagissy very nice place just make sure you use the first car park and don't try and drive through it

Would I go back?? yes to the beach and location one of the best I been too. But not to club house and pool just to small and crowded for my liking.

 After a 10 hour journey from the North East arrived on the Friday to avoid the traffic.

We had contacted the site previous to check they had a late arrivals area and was told yes, however we had not been informed that this cost an additional £10. The overnight stopover is in a secure field opposite the main site, at least meant had a good night sleep.

The check in was somewhat disappointing in that we were only supplied with a map of the site and had to make over own way to our pitch. Every site we have visited before have either taken you to your pitch or highlighted the most suitable route to take. Also this is the only site where we have not been supplied with a list of emergency/useful local phone numbers.

The pitches are large, however there is no uniformity on how you pitch and if you have a few families together we had the feeling of being surrounded by little ghettos with the pitches / their areas being marked off by a wall of windbreaks.

The shower blocks where disappointing and we felt could do with a uplift, there was no shower curtain so could not avoid getting clothes wet this was compounded by the fact in busy periods you would get the overflow from the next shower into your cubicle.

The new Seahorse centre is nice and on a plus has a quiet area away from the main room. We never used the pool, but looks small. There was nightly entertainment provided but we felt this lacked imagination as was either a group/comedian/magic show. We think that a more family involvement evenings would not go a miss ie quiz

Obviously one of the main attractions to the site is the beach and on sunny days this was always busy with people in boats etc. The beach side bar looked popular. The situation of the site on the beach is ideal for those with small families or those who enjoy water activities

The takeaway was expensive we only used on the first night at £3 for a medium box of chips (no bigger than what I would class as a normal portion that I can get locally for £1.

There is Wi-fi available but at £1 for 30mins that has to be used in one session again we felt is a rip off.

As has been stated by many others something needs to be done about the site exit, it is blind to the left. I cannot understand why there is no mirror on the road to assist you leaving.

Maybe we are being hyper critical of the site but compared to others of a similar size/price we have used before this site comes nowhere near to those.

Would we return? I very much doubt it. But others seem to like the site as some we talked too there had been going for years.

 Lovely site clean, pretty site near lots of other towns. Right on the beach. Lovely swimming Poole and club area. Have been a couple of times and enjoyed it. Also caught trains into Plymouth and had look around port and all the lovely shops, and restaurants. Plenty to do in this area and all very pretty and interesting.

 Stayed here mid June for 5 nights on F field which didn't have the sea views but was great for tents as the grass banks and hedges offered shelter on the 2 days/nights when we had heavy rain and very strong winds. The pitches are large, well drained and level, except the corner area around F1 - F4.

All the staff are friendly and helpful, the shop has a good selection of stock and has a freshly baked food section.

The toilets and showers are cleaned regularly, water was always hot although the push shower buttons would be better if they stayed on for more than 10 seconds. There is a family bathroom which is bookable through reception but is costly at £3 hour.

The indoor pool area is very nice, it has a fun pool with slides and a lap pool which offer adults only morning/afternoon swims, the pools are attended by a life guard and have an adults only spa.

We had a meal in the Seahorse which wasn't that great and although you can enjoy excellent views over the bay there is no entertainment during term time and it is closed to paying holiday makers when they have a private function. The place sadly feels empty and has no atmosphere.

The Driftwood bar is lovely its situated right on the beach and serves good food as does the nearby Ship inn which is a very friendly traditional pub.

In good weather this is a fantastic site, but on a cold and wet evening when you can't sit outside, a bit of family entertainment during term time just once or twice a week a would be very welcome.

 Pentewan sands is a very well set out site. The pitches are large and a lot of them close to the beach. We went whitsun week when all the touring pitches were full.

Toilet blocks and showers were kept clean and fresh by regular cleaning. Found club very busy and expensive so used ship inn in Petewan village a short walk away from the site.

Shop on site sells most things and like most site shops you pay a much higher price than big supermarkets, There is a 24 hr Asda and a big Tesco less than 5 Miles away.

There is a children's pool with 2 water slides and a larger pool all 1.6 meters deep which has a life guard at all times. The club is up stairs with a lift for disabled and pushchair usage.

Also there is a club which sells food and drink all day by the slipway entrance. Sea has areas for swimming and boating. The beach and site has a no Dog rule all season.

The Eden Project is Less than 6 Miles away and the Cornish Market World is just over 4 Miles away on Saturdays and Sundays.

On site there is also a large area for static caravans which people can hire for short breaks or 1 to 2 week holidays. There is a small arcade and hot dog beef burger bar next to the shop.

There is a small children's play area by the beach. We will go there again.

 We have just returned from a week's holiday.

The pitches are reasonable size but it is great to choose which pitch you want on-line. A nice site and is very easy to find. The private beach was a bonus. The exit of the site is a bit of a corcern especially as I am new to caravanning but I suppose being at the beginning of season, it wasn't too much hassle. The walk to Mevagissey is nice along the the coastal path, but hilly.

The shower block could do with more attention at it always had sand on the floor in the shower cubicles (a pain). But we started using a side block which was hardly used and that was much cleaner.

We didn't use the tennis courts/swimming pool but they looked perfectly fine. The local pub in the village is quaint and does good good but would image it gets very busy in the high season.

I will return again.

 Our third year on the trot to this site which is great if you get the weather!. The pitches are huge but need to be to fit in boats, kayaks, pub tents, windbreaks etc so it can look a bit cluttered. Lots of facilities on site, pool, clubhouse, Driftwood bar etc.

The Ship Inn in the village is busy but the food is good but go to the Cove as the cream tea is fab. Mevagissey is only 2 miles away by foot but it is a very hilly walk so allow plenty of time but when you get there you will find some nice pubs and great fish and chips.

The site itself is very open, no hedges or anything between you and your neighbour, the beach is nice if not a bit gritty and the toilet blocks are ok but need cleaning more than once per day as by day two we showered in our van as the nearest block was quite dirty.

On the whole a good site in a nice location but not the best we have stayed at

 Just came back from a Easter break away with my children. From the moment we arrived we felt like we wanted to go home, but stayed for our kids sake and because it was all paid up front. We asked for a quiet pitch next to other families with young ones and were put next to a large group of 8 pitches who they had all ready had trouble with. We were surrounded by yobs who thought a good holiday was to wake every one up around them at 7am and spend the day drinking shouting and swearing all day and carry on to the early hours of the next morning. We went into complain in the morning to reception and made a complaint and was told it would be dealt with, however come the early hours of the the following morning my little ones were again awake in the early hours because of the noise. The same day I had spoken to security who promised to drive by and keep an eye on things but again the following night more drunken noise and no security to tell them to shut up as promised. The next morning I was fuming. I then lost my cool and demanded to see the park manager and get this sorted.

Give him his due he listened and came to the pitch straight away but it was a bit to late as all the trouble makers were packing up and leaving, he apologised and offered a return free holiday and our money back, I told him the point is if you make a complaint it should be dealt with and not dismissed by any member of staff and asked him how many warnings do you give someone before they are asked to leave the site.

The other points about this site is lack of showers and changing facilities when you use the swimming pool and nothing around the site for little ones apart from their own private beach (weather depending)
