First class site, good pitches, well maintained toilet / shower blocks. Shop a wee bit lacking. Games room is useful but some of the equipment is a bit tatty - not quite what you expect at a five star establishment, especially since there is a separate charge for this.
Local Blair Atholl Hotel which is only a 5 minutes walk away is good for beer / food.
Lots of excellent walking.
Blair Castle is well worth a visit and, if you can, try and do the 'Attic Rooms' tour - very interesting with good views from the roof.
Would recommend this site every time and will be back.

Had a quick two day break here on September Bank Holiday, we thought the site was very clean and toilet/shower blocks were fine, there was a playpark for the kids which they enjoyed and an on-site shop which stocked the essentials although a bit over priced. There are not many shops close by but you could drive the seven miles to Pitlochry if you wanted shopping. The staff at the reception were very pleasant and helpful and it's such a lovely area we will definitely go back but will stay longer this time.
Although it's an expensive site in terms of fees and the on-site shop we enjoyed it and will go back

Just back from a fabulous holiday weekend at this site. Lovely clean site, we were pitched on the family pitches at the back of the site next to the river and although pretty steep at £27 a night worth paying the extra money for the night time entertainment alone coming from the woods, watch rabbits, hear owls, foxes etc.
The facilities on the site are of a good standard clean and tidy with hot showers & hairdryers and there is various toilet blocks dotted around the site although perhaps there could be one a bit closer to the family sites as it was a wee bit of a walk away.
There is a good playpark in the centre of the site for the kids and also an area for football. There are loads of nature trails in and around the area. We visited the castle and its well worth a visit if you are into history in any way, there are loads of facsinating items and great to imagine how there life must have been! We used the main entrance and paid the full fee for the castle and grounds however on the way home we discovered a path that led directly to the campsite from Hercules Garden so I presume that it free to roam the grounds if you are on the campsite.
Although the site does not have a swimming pool you can get use of the pool at the River Tilt site, we didn't use the pool so can't comment on it but worth knowing for future.
All in all I would rate this site highly its well worth a visit however I do think they verge on the expensive side of thing as far as pitch prices go, but they are very popular so I suppose they can justify it!
We visited the Bruar falls and did the trail around the waterfalls, please don't let the signs deter you from doing the walk as long as you are sensible it is quite safe to do, we did it with my children age 5 & 3 and they were fine! The House of Bruar is very nice and also quite expensive.

This is my all time favourite site. I come here ever year.
It has changed over the last few years. There are far more seasonal caravans. It gives the impression they will take over one day. I used to like a perimeter pitch at the top of the site but sadly they are all taken over by caravans now. The tent pitches are in front of them. I felt there was no privacy. Tent area feels very exposed now. Every time I came out my tent there was a wall of caravans facing me. There is a massive area for ball games. Well away form tents but some don't use it.
The facilities on site are fantastic. I can't find fault with the showers or toilets. The main building with shop, washing machines and drying area is amazing. It's such a massive beautiful structure. It also has a very large 8 hole putting green outside it.
The warden on the site is my hero! there is no noise after 11pm and he is always seen going round checking for problem situations. You get the feeling if there was a problem he would be on it before you had time to report it! Pity he was not doing his rounds when my car was in danger of being hit by a football.
There are many beautiful walks in this area. The scenery is breathtaking. A good chippy is a short walk away. The village has a few small shops and is very picturesque.

Just back from a long weekend at this great site. Had a good EHU pitch backing on to the River Tilt. The huge play area at the centre of the site means that even when it is full there is still a feeling of open spaces. Kids loved playing football and cricket, going to the play park and generally running around enjoying the freedom. Excellent wee shop, plus good laundry and drying room facilities.
We have visited before at a slightly quieter time and found no fault with the toilet and shower blocks, this time however the ladies in particular seemed to be struggling to cope, and by mid morning our nearest block could have done with a clean. The hot water never seemed to run out though.
Apart from walking/cycling/water-based fun, there's lots to do locally, a great chippy and pizza place across the road and Pitlochry just a few miles away. You could easily stay here a week and find something different to do every day.
It's not cheap at £30-a-night for a big tent with EHU - but it must be worth it because we are heading back in September.

We had tried to book a pitch at Blair Castle for over a month but were told it was full. Despite this, we travelled up to Perthshire on spec and tried a few other campsites before we finally thought to try Blair Castle on the off chance of a cancellation. The reception staff (security man who stands no nonsense - see previous reviews) was exceptionally friendly and explained that they had just opened up the rally park as an 'emergency overspill'. So we'll keep this in mind the next time we're in the area.He sorted us out and we were delighted with the pitch.
The local pubs are very friendly - try the River Tilt bar behind the hotel where locals drink - far cheaper and friendlier then the Atholl Arms.
Stone built toilet blocks were extremely busy but try the wood cabin block at the entrance. It was much quieter / newer / cleaner since it seemed to get less traffic.
A great weekend break - we'll be back soon.

Our second trip out with the 2 boys (3&1). Spurred on by positive reviews to come to Blair Castle we got a pitch on a small patch of field surrounded by a road/track and lots of other tents. I suppose, seeing other tent-areas in nearby campsites it was pretty generous, but we did feel a tiny bit cramped and without much privacy.
Another drawback to the pitch was the proximity to some horrific other campsite users who thought it was ok to swear and shout well into the night, knowing full well there were children (not just mine) in tents all around them. However the campsite management were very concerned the next day and there wasn't a repeat performance.
The facilities at Blair Castle are excellent - the wash block was spotless at every point in the day, very child friendly and safe, lots of rubbish bins, a bank of recycling bins, a just-what-you-need shop and a lovely area for the children with equipment for all ages and a huge field to run around in and play.
The tracks around the site in the castle grounds were fabulous and we got a money-off voucher for the castle entrance fee - our boys loved the tractor safari round the estate seeing the ponies, deer and sheep! (so did I as it meant I didn't have to walk it.)
The take-away/restaurant over the road was very helpful and I recommend the pizza.
Definitely one to remember for another visit, in spite of rubbish neighbours (who hopefully won't be there another time!)

Stayed for a weekend, the site is very well situated and laid out, with all pitches surrounding a central large grassed area which is brilliant for kids. The shower blocks were all clean and well stocked but we had issues with the showers, in 2 blocks each morning they were cold and the 3 block so hot they were scolding, definitely couldn't have washed my daughter properly the whole weekend if she had been with me.
The staff were friendly and efficient however this site is definitely not for night owls, with an extremely vigilant night watch man that does not tolerate any noise after midnight, we heard many reports of him and his timely tactics throughout our weekend.
I love blair atholl and the local pubs were very friendly especially the posh, but cheaper bar prices at the loft, who's staff and food were brilliant, they also have a great outdoor balcony with lovely views.

Spent two nights here at Spring bank – I believe the site was fully booked but it did not feel over crowded…. The Campsite “felt” was very professional, without being impersonal.
The site had very modern and spotless facilities, which again seemed adequate in numbers given that the site was full.
We had a grass pitch next to the river Tilt – the pitch was spacious.
There was a huge grassy area in the centre of the site, which included a kids play area, goal posts etc
The area is fantastic for cycling (both with family + serious stuff), and walking. My kids and I spent hours in the River, skimming, paddling etc. The area abounds with wild life, we saw Red Squirrels, Wood Peckers, large birds of prey etc
As an added bonus the Castle next door was hosting the Blair gathering, which was Highlands games – a fantastic spectacle and experience for an Englishman….
And there were no midges !
I can highly recommend this site.

The site is over 40 acres and is a huge site, we visited for a week at the end of may 2009 and stayed on a service pitch, (water and Electricity and Drainage) the pitch was not as big as expected and this does let it down for the cost of £21. 00 a night, the porch awning was free and if it was a full size one it would have been £4. 00 a night just for the awning, (very Expensive for just 2 people, there are 5 toilet blocks which are busy when full at weekends, site can be very crowded, one block had just 2 showers, there are 2 temps very hot (not good for children) or cold when the site is full, we used the caravan for showers, our friends weren't so lucky, over 200 pitches to the site, washing machines are very big and ok for £2, spin dry £1, and free use off iron and board (only 2 of each), good play area for kids and big grassed area in centre, great views and close to castle, and village, try the Bothy Bar at the atholl arms, great service and very friendly. For shopping use the co-op supermarket in pitlochry, 7 days a week 8am to 10pm or there is a little spar just pass river tilt park on main road, shop on site very small, ok if desperate. The site as a great location with plenty to do nearby, distillerys to try, plenty of walks, the falls at braur are a must, 3 mile away and so is the Queens View at loch tummel. Overall the site is friendly and very clean, toilets and showers cleand twice daily, staff are friendly, older couples would prefer midweek, due to lots of familes at the weekend.
