We spent 3 nights here in very cold weather.
Fabulous location with nice views. Situated next to the castle and in the village.
We ate once in the Atholl hotel bar. The food was ok, frozen chips. Nice for a drink and allow dogs. Couple of shops to buy essentials. Pitlochery is nice for a stroll and nice tea shops.
Facilities are very clean but not what I would have expected for a 5star. The showers are good and plenty of hot water but a bit chilly for this time of year.
We had our own water tap and waste which was nice.
The walks from the site are brilliant. Forest trails and riverside walks from the site.

We turned up at this site without a booking and were informed that we were getting allocated the last available pitch for our size of van. This pitch was not ideal as it was situated amongst rows of vans quite close together. There are nicer looking pitches if you take a fully serviced one. The other downside to this site is that the toilet block (there are several) closest to us had the most annoying showers ever, you had to let the water stop flowing before re-pressing the button, which then only dribbles back down the wall before the water pressure becomes strong enough to start showering again.
That is the end of moaning, the site has direct access to great walks, is convenient for visiting Pitlochry, House of Bruar and Blair Castle.
2 small shops in village for essentials(also well stocked reception).
Had great meal in Atholl Arms.

We have just returned from this site. What a fabulous site. Well looked after and the staff very helpful and professional.
The facilities were always clean and no queues for the showers even although the site was fairly busy. The pitches are level, and did not get water logged by the passing heavy showers.
The site is reasonable size with mixture of statics and tourers, the TV lounge and games room seemed to be where some of the kids congregated. Didn't use it though as the weather was reasonable.
I would highly recommend this site and plan to return next year.

We had two nights here towards the end of our holiday. The site itself is very well located on the edge of the village of Blair Atholl.
We had a fully serviced pitch (electric, water and waste water). All such pitches were very well located close to facilities and reception.
The toilets and showers were first class. Better than many hotels we have stayed in.
Reception has a small shop selling basics (not much on the food front though). Reception also has a games room and internet lounge.
This is a big site consisting of a mix of statics, tents, tourers and motorhomes but it never felt busy or crowded.
Blair Atholl is a charming village with everything that you need including 'open all hours' shop, pub/hotel, tea-rooms etc. There are also other food outlets just up the road.
The Atholl Arms Hotel serves good food in ample proportions, a wide range of ales and a good atmosphere. Kids welcome too as long as they are not in the bar area.
It is worth noting that there are good transport links from the village. There is a bus service to Pitlochry and also a mainline station so you can get direct links as far as Inverness to the North and Edinburgh to the South. It's 10 minutes to Pitlochry on the train. Check timetables though as the services aren't that frequent.
Anyone staying on the site is entitled for a discount at Blair Castle which is adjacent to the site.
All in all a top site and highly recommended.

This is a very pleasant, large site being a mix of hard and grass pitches for tents, caravans and motorhomes and some statics. We happened by chance to arrive in time for the Atholl Highlanders Annual Parade at the castle and the Highland Games the following day in the castle grounds. In such perfect weather it was a real treat to attend these events, particularly as discounted entry was provided through our site vouchers.
Because of these events the site was busy, but we had pre-booked and our allocated hardstanding pitch with EHU, water tap and grey waste disposal was level. However, the pitch was too narrow (this being aggravated by the neighbouring motorhome door and blind being on the right and ours on the left, leaving almost no room between us. This was disappointing bearing in mind the pitch fees are expensive (£49 for our 2 nights).
The site facilities are outstanding and spotlessly clean. The reception we received on arrival and helpfulness of the staff was also outstanding.
The proximity to the castle (definitely worth going to see even without special events), a good pub and a village shop selling the basics and newspapers help to make the stay enjoyable. This IS a 5 star site and we recommend it despite the above average fee for such a narrow pitch.

Everything said so far about helpful staff, well-kept facilities and beautiful scenery is true. When I pitched my tent at around 7 p. I noticed black feathers lying scattered all over the place - didn't think much about it, everything was quiet. An hour later thousands of crows returned to their sleeping-trees near by for an all-night party. I spent the night waking, got up again at the crack of dawn and left the place at 4:30 a. Found the place unsuitable for a good-night-sleep.

Excellent site with good amenities and in a good location, but a bit on the expensive side.
On arrival, reception staff were friendly and very helpful. I was suprised to be charged £22 for a campervan with one occupant, but I did stump up! Maps and site information provided are very good.
Toilets and showers are regularly cleaned and are kept very clean and tidy, and there are sufficient blocks and facilities to avoid queuing. This was my second visit to Blair Castle (with others on previous visit, so not so expensive on a per person basis!); the first time was late season, so the site was quiet, but even though the site was very busy on this visit, there was never a problem getting access to the facilities.
The price does include £2 per person off a visit to Blair Castle, which is a 5 minute walk away, and well worth visiting. It also includes an hour of internet access time using supplied computers; there is no wifi.
There are plenty of walking and cycling routes in the area, and the site is quite accessible being close to the A9 and with a railway station in Blair Atholl.
A major draw is the Atholl Arms Hotel, 5 minutes walk away, which has excellent bar meals and a range of locally brewed real ales (from the Moulin brewery). There is also a cafe in Blair Atholl which sells fish and chips and pizaa up until 8pm in the summertime.

Cant praise the site enough, everything on and around the site is exactly what you expect from a site right next to a castle.
Reception staff very helpful on arrival, pointing out our exact pitch and how to get to it and giving us all the information we needed.
Toilets and showers were all exceptionally clean and tidy, shop had all the essentials, kids play area was massive.
Castle well worth the visit and you get £2 off each ticket with your campsite map.
Pitlochry, dunkeld, queens view and aberfeldy all very close by and all worth a visit.
Would visit again.

Just back from a two day stay. We were in the family pitches that backs on to the river, with trees behind us. Good sized even pitch 248. It was right beside the gate that leads to the path.
This didn't cause a problem as we had the door at the other side.
It was raining a lot while we were there but still managed to get out and about between showers.
The kids loved throwing stones in the river.
The grass was a bit long near our tent so you got wet feet.
Toilets/showers were clean and plenty of them around the site. I felt the nearest one was a bit too far away from the family pitches, which wasn't very handy having two grandkids with us or if you got up in the night.
That was the only down side to our weekend.
It is a lovely area with plenty places to go on walks. 10min on train to Pitlochry, not many per day though.

This was our second caravan site that we visited.
This visit took place over a bank holiday so the site was busy.
Everyone was helpful. The site enjoys a great and massive central space complete with mature trees, bbq points and a large play park, all of the caravans and tents are then arranged around this space.
The toilet blocks are arranged the edge of the space and although the site was busy, there were sufficient numbers available to guests, so there were few queues. They were always clean, the only down side was the shower cubicles were perhaps a little small.
The reception building has a variety of services, the site is immediately adjacent to the beautiful grounds of Blair Atholl castle. We also enjoyed walks around the village and trips to Pitlochry and nearby Killicranke.
Well worth a visit, the kids loved it and we will definitely be back.
