 Terrible Tent Pitch Position

Pitch booked in plenty of time / requested quiet spot - got opposite - stayed there last week [have stayed there a total of 4 times now over the years].

Whatever you do don't accept tent pitch no 247 [although this is classed as an XXL pitch with the foot traffic down all sides it became a very small pitch], it is in our opinion in the worst position on the site adjacent to a gate to the river with people walking / cyclists down every side including the rear of the tent [privacy was not possible]. The power supply is at the far / wrong side of the gate away from the tent pitch which either means people trip over / trample your power lead, or as I did lift a paving flag at the gate to run my cable beneath for safety, I reported and made a suitable suggestion to one of the grounds men about this but nothing was done during our stay].

Cold water only out of the automatic taps in one of the toilet blocks.

Children cycling between parked cars [even in the allocated parking spots] - many resorted to parking cars in front of their tents, even this caused worry, as they cycled even there.

Overall these and other minus points [not really worth mentioning] somewhat spoilt our weeks holiday, We would never go there again in the Scottish School holidays which we did not know [and was not told about on booking] start earlier and finish earlier than England's, or have that position again.

Just back from a great 4 days here, which we thorougly enjoyed. Great walks and cycling on around 5 or 6 marked routes (we did the red and black routes, and plenty to do despite some mixed weather. I managed 9 holes of golf at Blair Atholl ( nice wee course, just about walking distance and our oldest daughter did a 2hr trek from the Blair Castle stables.

Only negative was the showers as per previous poster mentioned. Just about enough water coming through if you were the only one in the showers, but dropped to a trickle if 2 were running. Could also do with a seat - this was shower block 2.

We ate twice at the Bridge of Tilt Hotel which was excellent and great value - 2 steaks and a bottle of wine for £25 offer is hard to beat - not sure how long it will last - think new owners took over at the end of last year.

Visited here in mid November. This was our first visit to the site. Obviously due to the time of year it was very quiet. The reception was very welcoming and friendly. Our pitch was the perfect pitch as it was fully serviced, near to the toilets and with a great view.

The dog walks nearby are really good as is the short walk to the atholl arms hotel. The bothy bar at the hotel is very good for a bar supper or a nice drink next to the fire. We eat here twice with our dogs and can't wait to go back.

The only criticism we had was that the showers didn't seem to have much hot water ( this may be due to the -2c temp outside and the fact the site was quiet so they didn't heat that much water )

Despite this we loved it here and would suggest it to anyone to try.

We loved it so much we paid to leave our caravan here for the week so we can go back up on Friday coming.

Stayed here for 2 nights this week. £27 per night for hook-up, 2 adults, 2 kids and motorhome. A little steep.

Very big site and pitches big too. Toilets very clean and very warm. However, the sinks had a mixer tap only so could not get very hot water for a shave. Also the sinks were tiny so made it hard not to get soaking wet.

Reception area has pool table, table tennis table and a little shop. Closes at about 6pm though (I think).

Blair Castle an excellent place to go to for the day. You get 20% discount too !

Atholl Arms is superb. Great beer and superb food. One of the kids had venison olives, one had game Madras (rabbit, pheasant and veal), I had a steak and she who must be obeyed had a veggie dish. Lashings of soft drinks and quite a few beers too. Was only £55 so good value.

This site is very open with lots of green spaces and the facilities are second to none. We were there at a very quiet time and I would imagine the site when full would be very different. The pitches are very close together but spaced so that all have a good view. Some pitches on the area near the river had bigger pitches and were not quite as close as the ones in the middle.

Blair Athol castle is very near and a short walk through woodland. Not to be missed. Walks can be taken in every direction.

Stayed here with another family for 2 nights. Even though the site seemed to be full, it didn't feel crowded. There was a large grassy area and play park for the kid. S and we found a great walk along the side of the river, which we didn't fully explore. The castle next door was also a good attraction, especially as one day was quite rainy.

The shower/toilet facilities were great - always lots of hot water and we never had to wait for a shower.

The pitches are all labelled, so there is no hassle with deciding where to place the tent, and you are never too close to others.

The site has very clear notices about noise levels after 11pm, which is a great relief, especially with a full site.

The site has a shop which sells a lot of the basic foodstuffs and there is a good shop, with cash machine, within walking distance in the town.

The kids loved the time we spent and we will definitely be back here.

Stayed here for 4 nights at the start of July in glorious weather. Family ehu pitch by the river, 244, under the trees. I wore ear plugs but hubby was kept awake by the whooshing sound of the river and the dawn chorus of the crows. There were masses of them. Beautiful site and very well kept. Toilets and facilities clean and despite being busy we never had to wait. Showers are push button which gives a 10 second or so jet. Kids play park is in the middle of the site with a small shop and indoor games room. Staff very helpful. One girl whom had finished her shift at 6. 30pm and was waiting for a lift re opened reception to get me a clothes washing token to save my daughters new shorts, when she spilled something.

Site is a good mix of tents and vans and very quiet. Little or no noise after 1030pm. Other than that of nature.

Great walks and Atholl Arms, pub which is 10 min max walk away, does decent bar food at ok prices, they also allow dogs. We also had an ice cream round the site most nights with a cornet costing 1. 20. Adventures Kids farm park is a half hour drive away just outside Perth and cost 16. 00 for 2 adults, 1 child all day entry. Picnics allowed and it had slides, trampolines, fort, play parks, crazy golf and a toddlers area.

We had a great stay and specifically chose the site to ensure a quiet relaxing stay which we got. Only issue and it actually became our nightly entertainment was an elderly Victor Meldrew type in a static tourer near to us who kept shouting at the kids who went within 5 meters of his van. After their initial scare at his barking they made a game of whizzing past his van on bikes, then hid in the trees laughing as he came rushing out like a meerkat, looking for them. We will be returning and can definitely recommend.

Visited this site before in September 2012 and, while we liked the site, we were put in a pitch opposite a group consisting of about 12 adults and around 20 children in various caravans – unfortunately these seemed to have been the most obnoxious people on the entire site and we were glad we were only staying one night. When we decided to return in July this year, we e-mailed the site and reminded them of our bad experience previously and, while we were aware and appreciated that it was the start of the summer holidays, asked for a relatively quiet spot. We were assured when we arrived that there were no big groups booked in and, in fact, our pitch was just across the path from where we had been before. Imagine how horrified we were then when, on our second morning, a family of about 6 adults and 8 children turned up with 2 caravans and were pitched up one at either side of us and we became the filling in a caravan sandwich! After a few fraught hours where lines had to be drawn (and enormous windbreaker put up to give us some privacy from the children playing at our door, unhooking our electric cable and playing around with our waste pipe!) we laid down the law and told the families we weren’t standing for it. This had the desired effect that the kids were made to behave and we were given peace – even if it did make us sound like grumpy old sods (which we’re not by the way). However, all of this could have been avoided with some planning on behalf of the site – particularly after our concerns – especially when there were 2 pitches side by side further up from us which remained empty for quite a few days!

That said, if you get peace, this is a lovely site. Facilities are very clean (a little grubby for a couple of days when we were there but, in all fairness, the site was very very busy) and it has some lovely walks around it.

The little village of Blair Atholl itself doesn’t have much but it is very picturesque and you can get the train from there to Pitlochry which is worth a visit. The highlight of our trip this time, though, was to Segway Ecosse. If you’ve never segwayed before, you really must try it. It’s great fun and Trevor, our guide, was excellent company. We will definitely give this site another try out and, who knows, maybe this time the staff will actually listen to our concerns!

Just back from a 3 night stay at Blair Atholl park with my wife and 2 kids and a friend and his wife.

A very welcoming greeting by the office staff. Check in was very easy and we were told of the basic site areas and facilities.

The camping pitches with electrical hookup we got were right opposite the big grassy play area and was ideally suited between 2 toilet blocks. This was great as we could watch the kids as they play. The only downside is that the main access road was 10 foot in front of our tent so we had to watch the kids. The camping area was very flat and not lumpy at all. Some parts had no grass as you could see where the big family tents had been pitched previously. We found them to have excellent drainage as the rain we had didn't pool and the grass was wet and not muddy. Only downside was that the pitch we had ( 199) had stones about 4 inches under the grass so was difficult hammering in the pegs. We were able to use a BBQ without being challenged by the wardens. The camping area was quiet even though it was busy. You could hear people as you walked past there tent but the tents were spaced far enough apart that noise was limited. Mainly family with young kids like us.

The toilet blocks were very clean and well maintained. Plenty of facilities so no need to wait. Out of the 2 toilet blocks, one had really cold showers and the other had really hot showers. I think that the water was too hot, especially for young children so please check temps before using them. Also early in the morning, one had the heating on and was cosy, the other was freezing so some inconsistency of the heating timers. Dish washing facilities where behind every toilet block and served there purpose. Would have liked baby changing facilities as its a bit difficult trying to wash a 18 month old in the shower cubicles when they are all soaking wet.

Only use the on site shop once and was reasonable for what I got but some stuff was a little steep in my opinion. There are 2 local shops, Tilt Stores shut at 6pm and the off license behind the Atholl arms was open until 10pm ( 9am on sundays ) the Off license was the best choice as was well priced and had a good selection of items. The Gulf petrol station round the corner sold charcoal for the BBQ.

Kids play park had swings and slides all covered in chipped bark so nice and safe. Nothing fancy but kept the kids amused.

Used the laundry and for £2. 50 for wash cycle and £2. 50 for a drying cycle was reasonable for the privilege. 30 min cycle for each and plenty of washers and dryers.

Overall a very nice park with visible wardens that were very helpful and friendly. Really nice stay, just as shame about the changeable weather.

A lovely setting but far too expensive.

£18 per night for a single person - gulp! Showers are a bit spartan and one of those silly press knobs that last 10 seconds so can't get a proper shower.

The shop doesn't open until 8am (earliest) so if you need milk for an early start then go to The Spar in the village.

Also, the check in takes forever. Questions, questions. Mostly for marketing purposes.

Annoyingly, I wanted to get on WiFi to check the weather and the site wanted £1.50 for 30 mins access? Having paid £18 already I told them no and let them know I'd paid enough.

Drove away thinking 'gougers'. AVOID!
