We have just returned from a weekend away at Bay View, having previously stayed on another of Holgates parks our expectations were high but we were not disappointed, the park is very well maintained and the toilets were spotless.
The camping field is very handy for the shower blocks and the pot wash area. We ate out at the new bar and restaurant on the Friday after putting up the tent, ideal for all the family, the children were made to feel very welcome, they spent time looking through all the toys in the shop, great for spending pocket money. We will be booking to go back in the summer holidays.

This was our second time at this wonderful site. We stayed on the bottom field as this is more level than the top field which is sloped and more exposed. The staff are really helpful, from reception all the way upto the General Manager.
The shower block nearest the bottom field looks new and there are more than adequate cubicles. The whole site has been refurbished. There are some lovely walks along the salt marshes and you can walk across them to the sands, not far away is the canal which is lovely to walk along as well.
The site is ideally situated for seeing the south lakes and Kendal is about a 25 minute drive away, whilst Morecambe is about 15 minutes drive away. Should you need to do any food shopping then within a couple of minutes drive are a Tesco's and Booth's supermarkets or in Morecambe is a Morrisons.
A recommended site that we will no doubt be returning to several times this year.

Stayed at this site in July last year, even though the weather had been awful before we went the drainage was excellent and the ground was in great condition. Facilities were really clean and spacious.
The site is in a great location for exploring the lakes or days out to blackpool. Looks like there now adding a bar and restaurant which will be a great addition, however the pitch price seems to have gone up quite a bit.
This is a great site and I will definitely be visiting it again.

Just spent a weekend here with friends in a mix of tourer, trailer tent and several tents.
The Friday we arrived was quite blustery which caused problems erecting one of the tents on the field we pitched on as it was quite exposed, but this was our only drawback.
The site is well laid out, with generous facilities, all of which are well maintained and spotlessly clean. Large safe children's play area too.
The camping fields do slope.
Staff on site were very friendly and helpful, and the fields are patrolled by a warden, who is quick to advise any rule breakers re late noise, open fires etc. A warden also patrolled on foot till the early hours.
Superb views overlooking the bay, handy for all lakeland attractions, and 5 mins from Tescos in Carnforth for supplies (there is a small shop on site)
Highly recommended site,to which we would happily return.

Stayed at this site for 2 days in August. On arrival we had to park up the top end of the site and walk to the reception which was a bit of a trek but this is probably due to the lack of space for caravans to park at reception.
The site was very clean with lovely mowed grass. Views were stunning. The games room which was a big hit with my two younger children was an excellent idea as it is an old barn, children can buy a table tennis balls at reception for 30p each or bring your own. There is also a pool table (40p) and air hockey (£1 a go).The wooden play area is also very good. On a down side the trains can be noisy during the night, also the site gets very windy and awning nearly blew away! Some of the areas are very steep to pitch tents and did feel slightly sorry for the people who were shown to their very steep beds for the night!
The showers and toilets are immaculate and the water is lovely and warm.

We have just come back from a wonderful 3 days at this site.
The site itself is beautiful and in a good location, it is well maintained and clearly looked after. Grass in really good condition especially considering it is the middle of the camping season and (typically) we have had a lot of rain! Really friendly reception both when I phoned to make the booking and in all further dealings with all members of staff, who advised, not dictated, where to pitch.
A real countryside feel to the site as we had sheep on one side, cows peeping over the hedge on the other and rolling green hills all around. The only thing that there wasn't was a view of the sea, well considering it's an estuary, mud!
Facilities were plentiful and kept immaculate. Showers are their own little rooms rather than cubicles and are the 'stay on' variety such as you would more likely find in a domestic bathroom rather than a campsite. Easily the best showering experience we have ever had on a camping trip.
The washing up and laundry facilities are also good. They are also in the process of really upping the facilities offered to a similar standard offered by the other Holgates sites in the vicinity. I don't know if this would 'improve' the experience as far as what I am looking for in a campsite but there you go. There is already in existence a small play area (not aimed at toddlers really) and a games room. Can't really comment as we didn't use either.
We camped in our tent on 'the bottom field' I believe and this would seem to be the best choice unless your tent has a self levelling device(!) as it is a bit hilly. Sensibly they seem to have assigned the hilliest parts of the site to the static and touring caravans (some which are propped up on a number of blocks).
Perhaps it is worth asking about level pitches when you book. I did but I am not sure how or if this affected which field we were assigned to.
There is also a shop on site and a newspaper ordering service but we didn't use them either. There is a Tescos about 5 mins up the road and we shopped there instead.
Only other thing of note I can think of to mention is that it can get rather windy with it being on the coast so windbreaks or some kind of shelter for cooking is essential (we thought).
We just had a lovely time, it's a great site and if we are ever back in the area will be back, spaces permitting.

This was our first visit since the site had changed hands and whilst the site was very much the same ie clean toilets and showers we found the warden unhelpful. We arrived late and had problem with tent (we had lost a pole in transit) but no help from staff was offered. This spoilt our first night. On saying that, this site is very handy for Morecambe and Lancaster, hence our visit whereas Silverdale is a little way out.

We were in the main camping field, the pitches were quite level, the ground felt quite damp and never really dried out the whole time we were there even though there was only a little rain during the night on our last day. The booking in was very organised. We did see a lot of the reception staff driving around on golf buggies on the first evening checking people weren't pitched too close, etc which was quite reassuring but we didn't really see anyone after that. The toilets, showers, pot wash area were always spotlessly clean with plenty of soap and loo roll too. We did visit the play area which was at the other side of the site but feel it was a bit small for the amount of children on the site and it would be a good idea to have one over the other side too.
On our first night one of the neighbouring tents were a bit rowdy with music playing and about 11pm the wardens came and promptly put a stop to it which was nice to see.
At the bottom of the camp there was a gate leading straight onto the salt marshes with fantastic views across the bay. We went for plenty of walks along the footpaths and in the evenings the sunsets across the lakeland fells are lovely and not to be missed.
Out and about Arnside is lovely and Arnside boar is quite exciting especially if you manage to get a glimpse of the people in canoes trying to catch the mini tidal wave. Hest Bank was a great too, with easier access to the beach and the shore cafe with its home made cakes; and lastly Happy Mount Park in Morcambe was a hit with the kids, they enjoyed the crazy golf, miniature train rides and the splash zone. We will definitely return in the future.

What a lovely site ! just stayed for one night with my 3 year old daughter and we've had a fantastic time ! When we arrived at reception and told our tale the lady was very helpful and as I only had a small 3 man tent found us a space next to the play area perfect ! I know the area I've camped a few times plenty to do for all ages 10 mins drive from morecombe . The facilities were clean tidy and regularly maintained. The grounds were of the same standard. They say some things happen for a reason this time it's true because I've found a little gem !

Stayed on this park just for 2 nights I found the pitch was on shale the ground was well drained and the grass around the unit was very well kept
We had to borrow blocks from the site office which was free & the warden brought them to you which was really helpful the staff were really helpful and friendly
The toilets I thought were kept very clean but the showers now here is my grief were our toilet block was there was only 1 shower which served quiet a few units but it was clean
Overall the site is well maintained but pricey we paid £19 a night for 2 adults & awning & electric
It is also a very windy site & if you get one of the pitches that we had you will need hard ground pegs because the red pegs wouldn't peg your awning down
There was a separate field for the children to play on as well and it was well fenced of
The site office also has a small selection pf groceries and other things which was ok if like me you always forget something.
There is also a good chippy and local pubs which offer excellent food
Overall bay view was a good site and I would recommend it
