Just returned back & agree with ToneisOK. Top field does look too steep to camp on. The signs do need replacing as its really not clear where things are.
But it's in a great location. The new flat field is great. Staff friendly. Just produce a slightly clearer map showing walks, especially how to get out onto the canal.
We had a great time, even though the weather was changeable.
The warden arrived quickly when we reported that a tree branch had snapped of a tree & was overhanging our tent. We did though sit & marvel when on arriving with a single ladder about 6ft too short, he stood the ladder up vertically, while his mate held it while he climbed up it.

As others have said its a little tight as you enter the site, its also a little confusing as your directed to a 'new arrivals' parking area but there is no signs directing you where to go to reception, we finally found it by wandering around, its quite a walk but once there the staff were very nice.
Stayed on the new field with the large pitches, the slate hard standing is not ideal but its better than just grass, I don't think I would like to stay on the upper fields as its very steep and the vans on there looked precarious.
Lots and lots of statics, all very well kempt. The pub is ok but lacked any atmosphere even though the staff were friendly.
Showers/toilets are immaculate but very busy, worth the small wait.
Two supermarkets within walking distance and only a stones throw from lots of lovely old seaside towns, we really took to Grange over sands.
We would probably return.

Sorry but maybe I'm missing something here, but 'Bay View' with no view of the bay. We stayed here over the bank holiday weekend and to be honest as soon as we arrived we knew it was not for us.
The showers were not what we expected as they are either in a 'posh' porta cabin or in single stalls that need some TLC'.
The only good points are that they do have an impressive bar / cafe / reception area & it's 40 mins from the Lakes.
Windermere, Bowness-on-Windermere & Ambleside are outstanding areas that made this weekend all worthwhile

Just returned from a lovely weekend at Bay View. Its straight off the A6 and you pull into an area for new arrivals. It’s a fair walk to reception and then one of the warden arrived and guides you to your pitch.
The gates are a bit tight to turn so as the lady said previously be careful not to score the side of your van.
The bottom field is finished now and there is a lot of grey slate making up the level pitches. Grey slate is okay once its weathered but when we arrived it was new and very dusty. Never mind only a minor point. The pitches are well set up and spacious, the power points, taps and grid for grey waste are all new.
The shops/bar and building are tastefully developed from old barns but there are rather a lot of green statics which made me think that maybe in years to come it wouldn’t be a touring park just statics which would be a shame.
The wardens are regularly around and spotted a situation opposite us where two people had left their dogs tied up in the sun and gone out for the day. The warden rang the people on their mobile and they soon returned to take their dogs with them.
Can’t really fault Bay View and we will return and spread the word too.

Went back to this having loved it the first time. Have to say, I'm not so keen of the layout this time, purely for the fact of the way the kids play area is so far away from the pitches this time, and for me the kids being happy and able to play nearby is such a big thing for me.
The new facilities were nice, although could do with more showers as there was quite a wait, they weren't the cleanest, and the hot water on the 1st day was cold the day after, think you must have to get in there early.
There's farm animals which the kids loved, the bottom field which we stayed in last time, near the play area is apparently going to have more animals in so kids can pet them.
The shop is ok as well. Check in was fast and we even got a lift back down the hill to our cars anda golf buggy, then shown to our pitches, which I do like, rather than the old 'that's the field off you go'.
Will I return to this site? Not sure really only because of the layout and I have a 6 year old that I wouldn't want to be playing so far away.
The village has everything you need, tesco takeaways should you not wish to cook, and pubs. Excellent location, and very easy to find.

My husband and I (sound like royalty don't we) have visited this site many times over the last few years but we always like to come here for the test site visit at the beginning of March. Just to check everything is working on the van.
We were very excited to see all the recent improvements that were advertised. It was my first time towing the van and I thought I did very well, even the warden on arrival was impressed as he led us to our brand new super pitch. Watch out for the tight corner you need to get round to get onto the field though. I think it will score a few vans this year.
We were a little disappointed that the field where the super pitches are was not finished, in fact, judging by the amount of diggers, dump trucks and work-men around, it was going to be quite a while until it was complete. Plus the field seemed quite isolated but I am sure it will improve when they have finished landscaping.
There was a brand new toilet and shower block at the entrance to the field. This was very clean and warm.
The new bar area and shop look great, and the food looked really appetizing although we didn't try any this time.
The site does seem to be mainly moving towards static caravans but there are still plenty of places available for tourers, motorhomes and tents.
Previously we have pitched up on field A which has amazing views over the Bay, but not a super pitch. Think next time we will forgo the super pitch and revert back to field A.
The staff on site were as friendly as ever and always make us feel welcome. That is the main reason we keep coming back. That plus the fact you are literally 5 minutes walk away from the beach.
We love walking our dog along the beach and if you are up for a 5 - 6 mile walk then head left out of the site and walk past Red Bank, then along the promenade right into Morecambe. Say 'Hi' to Eric, then catch the No. 5 bus back to Carnforth.
We will certainly be back again later in the year.

Just returned from this campsite after spending the weekend there with my husband and two children. We have previously stayed on another of the holgate campsites in Arnside / silverdale and that was excellent so we thought we'd give this one a try.
Our pitch was next to the children's playground (i asked for it to be close) and this was fantastic for my children as they made many friends, however I didn't realise how close the railway track is to the site, and on fri night and early sat morning the trains seemed to go on forever hence a restless night!
I think next time we would choose the tent field on the far side of the site or maybe a pitch further back would be better. Saturday night wasn't as bad and we managed some sleep
The facilities on site were very clean and well maintained. My only complaint would be that the doors to the toilets were kept open all night which meant they were full of insects and moths. Not nice when you're sat on the loo!
The bar and restaurant were lovely. We ate on arival on fri night, the meal was nice. We also ate on sun morning for breakfast and that was good too, not overly expensive either. A good shop on site with treats for the children, other essentials, and also wine! Happy days! Tesco is just around the corner also.
Just like the other site we'd visited, this one had farm animals. The children could feed them and choose their own egg to take back for breakfast. Lots of hens roaming the site too.
We took a walk along the canal path on saturday into bolton le sands village and got some steak for the BBQ from the butchers. Nice walk, there's a canal bus you can catch to various nearby towns but we didn't have time for that.
Another walk is along the beachfront, which we didn't have time for either, but we did go down to the front on sat night to see the stunning red sunset, which was gorgeous!
Will definitely go back again, and would recommend to others. We had a lovely weekend.

Nice site over looking the bay, separated from the sea by salt marshes. Plentiful toilet blocks around site, although some only had one shower. Restaurant is very impressive with helpful staff and lovely meals.
The site is very much a 'work in progress' new areas are being excavated.
The only downside is the Motorhome area. Six large serviced hardstanding pitches situated in the arrivals car park. Very busy area with no landscaping at all. This led to a feeling of being Max & Paddy in Safeways carpark with just the shopping trolleys missing. Such a shame as a little thought to a hedge separating the area or between pitches would have made all the difference.

Just stayed for 4 nights. Our booked camp site had let us down badly. So we called at Bay View hoping they had vacancies. First impression was it is a hugh site. Mainly catering for caravans. Due to not booking ahead we were given a site near the children'ss play ground.
The receptionist was not the most welcoming or friendly. Considering we were going to be a party of six in three tents. We were accompanied to our site and were told where to place our tent. The site we were given was on a very sloping area. We had lots of rain and no mud thank goodness. Then we heard a noise I thought it was a low flying plane. No it was a train. After 2 nights we seemed not to hear the noise.
The toilets are impressive. Site well maintained. The pub on the site was lovely. The food seemed ok but we never ate in the place.
The surrounding area to the site is great. We would not visit here again. But would camp again in the area. If you have children it would be ideal. We prefer a flat area and less noise.

This was our first visit and can comfortably say the best showers of all camping trips thus far!
Individually housed cubicles with plenty of room for mum and child and not on timers so I did not feel rushed and drop stuff. The camping field currently has some diggers for neighbours but there was no noise.
Nice big field for kids to play in and very friendly atmosphere among staff and fellow campers. I especially liked the 'check out' time - 12 noon gave us time to shower, breakfast, pack up and have a last wander and brew before heading home. Would definitely recommend.
I know people have mentioned nearby supermarkets but venture into Bolton-le-sands for Pott's pies (next door to a convenience store) and support 'local shopping'.
