My rating would have been much better had I not seen a cleaner using ths same cloth to wipe the sink and taps as the urinal.
The location is amazing with superb views of Morecombe Bay and the mountains beyond.

This is one of our favourite sites, we like the fact that you are shown to the pitch and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The bar and restaurant were very nice with lots of space between the pitches with lovely walks for the dogs.

Lovely site, very peaceful and beautiful views of the sunset from the bottom of the site.
The pitches are spacious and have full services on them. It is a very clean and tidy site too.
The food in the restaurant was very good quality and the children's meals were great - good portion sizes and tasted good too.
The staff are very customer focussed and nothing is too much trouble - they will open the shop for you if you ask at the bar outside of its opening hours.
The managers walked round plenty to check everything was ok and were very friendly to all.
A great site and we will return

Just spent the 3 days at this fabulous campsite with my 11 year old son & nephew. The tent pitches are extremely generous (we have a large Vango tent and front canopy and still plenty of room) and EHU and water tap are right next to your tent pitch. The pitches are surrounded by motorhomes and caravans but enough of a distance away to be private. We arrived in very high winds, and the Warden came and helped us hold down our ground sheet - I'm not sure we'd have managed to pitch it without him - thank you!
The toilets and showers were plentiful and absolutely spotless. They were cleaned very regularly. All other areas were immaculate, and the grass was nice and short. We didn't use the Bar, but it looked lovely, an old converted barn. The boys were able to explore on their own (both 11) as the only downside was that the park was a fair distance away (this has been mentioned on previous reviews, but didn't cause us a problem at all as they went off exploring on their own, with their phones!). The site is down a hill of the main road so is very secluded and there is an entry barrier (which you need a code for) so it felt very safe.
There is only one negative that I have and that is the noise from the train tracks - it seemed to be a combination of freight trains and they were endless and fairly noisy well into the early hours.
It's quite an exposed site, but then it is right on the edge of Morecambe Bay which is beautiful and the views stunning.
We will definitely be back, a fabulous end to a summer holiday.
Thank you to all the staff for making us so welcome.

Well what lovely campsite we went as a group in tent (electric hook-up) all tents were spaced out the showers & facilities spot on clean & tidy. Grounds were well kept.
The kids had a field to play in which was in the middle of caravans & tents - where we could sit & watch them play (mine were 3&7yrs)they had a ball & met new friends & had kites to fly. Plus a pathway where they could scooter & ride their bikes.
Lovely walks to the coast with kids on tow staff were very helpful it was a secure site.
Shop, meals & bar were there not that we used the bar as we were happy staying @ our tent

We have just returned from our second visit in as many weeks from Bay View and once again, had a fantastic time. Spotlessly clean, comfortable, fabulous pitches, friendly and helpful staff, superb food in the on-site restaurant, I really cannot fault Holgates. If I really tried to find fault, it would be the man cutting the grass, driving up and down outside our camper for 3 hours, non stop. But this is just a minor gripe. Excellent place. Thoroughly spoilt now!

I am a seasonal pitch user at Bay View, and have been for the past 3 years. When we first started using this site it was a lot smaller than at present and was a lot friendlier and better run. Over the last three years we have seen the site get a lot bigger, and consequently the standards have started to slip. We enjoy coming, but due to the way the park is now run we are going to call it a day at the end of this season.
We intend looking at other sites in the area as we like it so much.
The owners and management of Bay View need to address the issues that I have raised and take immediate action to avoid others from doing the same as myself.

We stayed at Bay View over the Easter holidays, the site is close to the town centre and has some lovely walks with excellent views of Morecambe Bay. The facilities were first class, the toilets and shower block was really new, always spotlessly clean and well maintained. The staff did an exceptional job at cleaning them.
There is a bar, restaurant, games room for the children. The bar and restaurant is a new building in a barn type property, the drinks were reasonably priced and although we didn't eat in the restaurant the food looked delicious. The site was really well run with first class customer service, the staff at reception accompany you to a pitch that you want and then offer to help set up if you should desire.
The pitches were large on hard standing and fully serviced, level with plenty of room around and behind the vans to you didn't feel crammed in at all.
There is a large play area for the kids including climbing frames and area for football but it is near the entrance to the site and not near to the pitches, although it was lovely to walk to the play area taking in the breath taking scenery and just relaxing.
Overall I would thoroughly recommend this site, it is professionally run, clean, reasonably priced and very relaxing, didn't want to come home.
We will be visiting again, although hopefully with a bit warmer weather!

We are seasonal pitch holder at this site & are starting the season 1st March 2014. EXCELLENT SITE 10/10.
We are on a fully serviced pitch which costs the extra but is well worth it. BUT only problem with this is that pitch holders who do not pay extra for these services think they have a god given right to come on to your pitch around your caravan and use these facilities that we paid for. I do not think this is fare on the fully serviced pitch holders paying the extra cost.
Also as a long long time caravanner I believe there are certain codes of curtsey and practice, one main one was not to walk through or around another pitch holders plot, even if they are there or not. THINK PLEASE>>

We have a seasonal pitch at Bay View at the moment (although we are moving to another site for a change of scenery when our contract ends) and I would thoroughly recommend this site to anyone.
I am going to start with the only two negatives, the first being the playground which is located at the entrance to the site a long way from the touring fields and the statics. It is a lovely playground but it is never used because it is just too far for the children to go on their own. I am told there is a valid reason why it has to be there (planning condition) but it really does need to be moved into the main part of the site.
Secondly there is always a breeze, wind or gale blowing in off Morecambe Bay and there is no part of the site that is sheltered from it. Our pitch is quite high up on the hill at the back of the site so is even more exposed than other pitches and during the season we have seen literally dozens of awnings collapse or blow right over the tops of caravans because of the wind. If you do pitch at Bay View with an awning then two storm straps are recommended and you must peg out with the steel pegs and really good quality ties. We made our own out of bungee cord because we found that they were the only ones that would withstand the elements without breaking.
Now, the negatives are out of the way let’s get on to the positives.
The biggest plus for us is the management team; the site manager and together with his wife, run the site with his team. First impressions of the site are that it is absolutely pristine. There is not a blade of grass out of place or an untrimmed hedge or a scrap of litter anywhere. The bins are never overflowing and all the public areas are kept immaculate at all times of the day.
There are three main toilet/shower areas. The white block is the original toilet and shower block which houses the washing up area and the laundry. The green blocks are new and contain 4 toilets and 2 showers in a gents and a ladies block and they also have some portable abin showers and toilets which they open at peak times if the site is full. There are two elsan points, lots of water taps dotted around although the super pitches have their own water, electricity, waste and TV points. All the blocks are kept spotlessly clean and I have only once had to wait a couple of minutes for a shower.
The reception area is currently at the very bottom of the site almost on the seashore although they are in the process of converting a barn at the entrance to the site which will become the reception. In reception they have a bit of a shop that sells eggs, bread a bit of tinned stuff, a small selection of meats for barbecues, a small selection of wine, beer and spirits and some toys and camping gear. Behind reception is the bar/restaurant which I can thoroughly recommend. The food and drink in there isn’t particularly cheap but it is home made, well cooked and nicely presented. We have enjoyed many lovely meals in there during the season. In high season they host the occasional bingo and quiz nights and they also do kids’ discos and have a cabaret artist several times a year. In low season the restaurant and bar have limited opening times (usually just at the weekend) but during school holidays they are open all day starting at breakfast time through to last orders. In winter they have a huge open log fire and it is lovely to sit on the sofas in front of it with a nice glass of something warming.
In a separate building next to reception they have a little room with a ping pong table, air hockey and a handful of arcade machines. It is very popular with the children so make sure they take plenty of 2p pieces.
The area is great for exploring. The site is about 2 miles from the M6 motorway junction through Carnforth, 10 minutes drive from Morecambe, 20 minutes from Lancaster and roughly 30 minutes from Kendal and Windermere. Tesco and Booths are a 5 minute drive away and there are pubs and restaurants in Bolton le Sands and take-aways locally too. We can recommend the Posh Spice Indian take-away at Hest Bank and the Red Luck Chinese at Carnforth. The Far Pavilion Indian restaurant in Bolton le Sands takes about 20 minutes to walk to from the site and is very nice but pricey. You can walk along the coastal path to the Bay View garden centre where they have a little café serving home made cakes, ice cream and light meals and a bit further along the coast is Red Bank Farm where they do meals during the day and are licensed to serve wines and beers with meals. They have a few goats, pigs, chickens etc. For the kids to look at and an outdoor seating area for warm days. There is a caravan supplies shop in Carnforth for those emergency items.
We will be very sorry to leave Bay View but with lots of country to see it was never really our intention to stay on the same seasonal pitch for more than one year at a time. We wouldn’t hesitate to take another pitch there or go back for short visits in the future. It isn’t the cheapest for seasonals or touring but you get what you pay for in my experience. There are people on site who have been there for more than 20 years so that must say something.
