We stayed for a long weekend right at the beginning of June in our trusty Dandy folding camper. We really liked this site, peaceful pitches round the outside of field and £16 per night including electric for family of four was very reasonable. It's a bit a of a walk for water, toilets, showers etc, there aren't many of these either but I never had to wait to use them and it was nice to be away from the facilities and enjoy the site. We never saw the owners but everything seemed to run smoothly. We went to Morecambe, 10 mins away and Lake Windemere in 30 mins so if you want clean, quiet, spacious and very central for Morecambe, Lancaster, Lakes etc highly recommended.

Just stayed here for the second May bank holiday. The site was full but it was pretty quiet, the railway line passes nearby and although we could hear it; I never found it intrusive. The tents and caravan are mixed in together, not something that bothers us but I know it does some. The facilities are basic and could do with bringing up to date a little but they were clean.
The part of the site we were on sits on the side of a small valley and does slope quite a bit. Not a real problem with a caravan as the staff are very helpful and provided blocks for the front legs and there is a flatter area at the top where the motorhomes were. It didn't seem to cause the tents too much trouble either.
It's well situated for Morecambe, Lancaster and the South Lakes etc. The small games room was described as 'Ok' by my 13year old daughter and there is talk of a swimming pool being built. The beach, or grass as it now mostly is; is just a short walk through the site
As I said, the staff were very helpful to us and could be seen around the site regularly, they were also checking vehicles entering the site in the evening which I was quite impressed with.
It's a nice, quiet site that we will be returning to.

Fantastiic!
Turned up with no reservation, had a pitch behind the farmhouse that looked out over the sea. Toilet & shower block literally 1 minute stroll. Water was piping hot and toilets immaculate.
I will definitely be returning later this year.
Very reasonable price at £8/tent 2 people inc car.
Cant praise it high enough

I am over the moon that we have managed to stay in this perfect place. After spending double the amount at a place in Chester and being happy with that, for £10.00 per night at Detrongate what do you get here.Well basically what don't you get. A lovely pitch for a tent (there were 4 of us.2 adults and 2 children). The facilities are excellent. Toilets and showers immaculate.I could even see my face in the plugs in the toilets. I have nothing but rave reviews for this place. When we first got there a man came round on his tractor making sure we were okay. It is the perfect place. We cannot wait to return for longer in a few weeks.
This is the best place honestly!

Thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay over the 1st May Bank Holiday. The reception was very friendly as were all the other wardens in the park.
Our party was 5 dads and 11 lads plenty of space in the play field and they also enjoyed the adventure playground.
All the amenities very clean and in easy walking distance.
The weather and views were fantastic on the Friday and Saturday, Sunday was a bit grim. It absolutley poured it down the field held up well.
Morecambe is nearby and definitely NOT worth a visit, stick with Bolton Le Sands. Tesco and fuel station nearby what more do you need!

Stayed here for one night. Was quiet for the easter week but was lovely. Toilet blocks were clean and well maintained. The staff were friendly and helpful. The site was close to the bay to go walking and the towns were close by with access to the shops for anything that you needed. Would definitely stay again

Stayed here in July for one night, was a very nice site. The showers looked good although didn't use them. Toilet block was very clean and looked brand new! Good price, nice and cheap and there was a little shop which sold sweets, drinks and other little bits and bobs and run by a very friendly lady! Would use this site again! Were pitched away from everyone else and so got a good nights sleep and there was very little noise! Tesco and Co-Op down the road which were handy! Only little problem was the fact part of the field was a big soggy and I didn't realise until I drove the car through it! Other than that top site!

What a brilliant value for money website. We rang to enquire about the price before we went and checked we could get an EHU. When we got there we were greeted by a friendly man who told us we could pitch our tent on the bottom field near the play area. Having a 6yr old with us this was great. Anyway we were initially quoted £10.25 per night however when we got there he old charged us £8.50 a night what a bargain. Showers were £0.20p and I had a lovely warm shower that lasted for ages. Toilets and showers are a little outdated but for that price couldn't complain. There is a little shop that only opens in the morning for people to get newspapers, sweets, chocolate, duck eggs, and various small toys. There is a barn where you can watch television, play on a few slot machines, play table tennis & pool. Trains at night can be a little noisy however we werent too bothered. Location of the site is near Morecambe, Carnforth, Kendal, Windermere, Blackpool. We went to Happy Mount Park in Morecambe (highly recommended for kids, especially in hot weather as they have a splash park which is great). All in all recommended site and I will definitely go again. No restrictions on tent size which is also a bonus.

Stayed here on very hot weekend. Site seemed very full and we were placed on the camping field at the back of the camp. The field was fab with tents and caravans around the edges and loads of grass for the kids to run about in the middle. Shop was not open much, good TV room and kiddies park was limited (but they enjoyed it). There was toilet and shower facilities at the front and rear of the site which where clean but a bit dated. In conclusion - great site, good value for money, no thrills and great location.

We visited this site for 1 night in July 2006 after having phoned numerous sites in the area who would not take us as we were only camping for 1 night, or they were already full. We could not believe our luck! The campsite is exactly as others have described in previous reviews - so no mis-advertising there! It cost us £10.50 for 3 adults, 2 children, and 2 cars - what a bargain! We stayed in the field furthest away from the shop, and the kids enjoyed the 1 minute walk to the park, however nans legs were aching as the hill is quite steep. The field next to the shop has the park in it, however it does slope. There are pitches with EHU however we did not have one. We were lucky enough to pitch next to a couple who had been coming to this site for 15 years, and advised us which direction to pitch to avoid the wind. We were surrounded by sheep and cows, which was lovely as it really felt we were camping properly in the true sense of the word. The campsite was really quiet after about 10.00pm which was good for us, as the kids could get a good nights sleep (and so could we!). If you're not cooking your evening meal yourself on site, make sure you go out early for tea, as nowhere seemed to serve food after 8.00pm. We ended up in a takeaway pizza place in town at 9.00pm getting pizza and chips to take back to the site to eat. If you turn right out of the campsite, you will be in Morecambe in less that 15 minutes by car. It is worth a visit here as there is a massive market there on Sundays and lots of bargains to be had. There is also a funfair for the kids and lots of free swings etc on the prom. Detrongate is a lovely little campsite which is quite dated but has all you need for a few nights away. We will definitely be going back!
