Just returned from Pitton Cross and were unfortunately enough to have a terrible week for weather. However, arrived in the sunshine to a warm welcome. We arrived before midday not expecting to be able to pitch as were told arrivals were from 1pm. However, we were with friends and wanted to try and ensure adjacent pitches - we were immediately shown around the site and allowed to pick from a couple of choices. We chose the field with the standing stones as it meant we had a big open space in the middle. Everywhere was pretty wet when we pitched and due to the sheer amount of rain we had over the following 5 days it just got muddier and muddier until we had liquid mud under our tent - obviously not the owners fault at all but made for trying conditions - wellies were essential.
The ladies showers etc were excellent - plenty of hottish water and very clean - never had to queue more than 5 mins (this mainly due to large group of teenagers camping in a separate field - some sort of church gathering - however, they were no bother at all - very polite and one very kindly even offered me the use of her hairdryer to dry my daughters hair to save me using my 20ps for the site one). However, the men in our party advised that their showers etc were not nearly as salubrious. The shop was excellent and even sells excellent take out coffee which just what we needed when we were packing up.
The kids loved being able to ride round on their bikes and although the play area was not spectacular, they didn't seem to mind at all.
The bar (Helvetia Bar I think) at the Worms Head hotel does very good food with a stunning view. We also ate at Verdis in Mumbles which was an excellent family Italian with spectacular ice cream sundaes (near the pier). Rhossili beach is great for surfing / body boarding and walks but when we were there not brilliant for relaxing due to the sheer amount of flies which were really irritating. Port Eynon beach isn't really worth a visit in our opinion - too stoney but Oxwich Bay is lovely. Parking is cheap on the Gower too - £2.50 a day at Rhossili - we go to Putsborough in North Devon a lot and parking there is £6.00 a day! (not knocking it though - Putsborough is superb)
Anyway, on the whole a friendly site with mostly level pitches and in a lovely area.

I like this site. Had a pleasant welcome on arrival and the site was well looked after and the facilities very clean. Lovely place to come and relax and not be disturbed by rowdiness after dark. Next time we will ask for a pitch closer to the shower block as it can be a trek depending on where you're pitched.
You just can't beat the Gower for scenery, walks and general chill out factor. I'd also recommend the Bay Bistro near the Worms Head Hotel for food (especially their cakes!)
At this time of year you'll need insect repellent otherwise you'll be snacked on by various biting insects (the shop on site stocks insect repellent and citronella candles. Very useful shop, but didn't notice any fresh produce (may not have spotted it). Wish I'd bought a kite.
Hope to be back soon

Went with friends who were camping for the first time, so wanted it to be a good experience! Wasn't disappointed - showers plentiful and very clean. Free hot water. Well stocked shop - would have been even better if we could have bought a bottle of wine there! Very helpful staff, who were friendly and approachable to our children. Lovely walks from the campsite to several beaches. Generous level pitches. Would go there again.

The site is in a really good location for visiting the surrounding area, albeit the journey through the Gower was a bit tricky in places towing a caravan. We stayed for four nights over Easter and the site was fairly busy, but the facilities were always clean (or being cleaned!) and we were very impressed by the baby bathroom which had a proper mini-bath for the little ones. We never had to queue for a shower. Not great pitches, neither condition or size-wise, but perfectly adequate. The shop is well stocked and sells all-sorts to keep you amused, such as kites, board games, as well as basic provisions and sweet things. The playground is pretty basic, but was well used all the same.
There are some great walks around the area and some amazing beaches but really not for the faint-hearted! We had a really good meal at the pub/hotel on the coast at Rhossili (can't remember it's name). We also visited the Gower Heritage Centre, which is brilliant if you have young children and it's website doesn't do it justice. Our only complaint was the repeated and lengthy power cuts on site, but they did all they could to fix it.
All in all, a good site, which could perhaps just do with an update.

Lovely friendly welcome on arrival. The recent inclement weather had still left the ground a bit soft but the owners were very helpful in finding the best pitch. We liked the layout of the site with smaller secluded hedged in areas rather than one big open field. We pretty much had the field to ourselves but the weather was glorious for the whole weekend.
All facilities were clean & tidy, hot water in abundance, good recycling facilities and a very well stocked shop open from 08:00 ~ 17:00
It's a good place to explore the Gower from & highly recommend visiting Worms head for it's views.

Very nice small & quiet site, and not too busy seeing as we got there when the Gower show was on. Very friendly almost bending over backwards. Showers, washing up & laundry small but big enough, shop was well stocked with almost everything you could need, small but big enough play ground 2swings p/ship. Good views & nice walk down to beaches. Overall nice, small & friendly. Given location (middle of nowhere) pub & co-op end of road, well stocked & cash machine. Bus stop just out of main gate,.
Like any shame about the weather!
A big mist do worms head if you can

Nice site located about one mile from Rhossilli beach it has a well stocked shop and is easy to find. The toilets are somewhat dated, quite clean with free hot showers{not very powerful}.
The site can get quite wet if weather is bad and roadways are very holey and dirty.
Overall a nice site but have to warn you that the management are rather fussy, and make wild accusations that are not justified.

Our first time under canvas as a main holiday and the weather was terrible! However, that wasn't the campsite's fault. The site is divided into separate areas, each surrounded by hedges so there was lots of shelter from the gales, and flat so we didn't have flooding problems, although the ground felt like putty under our tent by the end of the last day [every day but two out of twelve poured]. The pitches were generous and we didn't feel crammed in, even though the site was full. Lots of electric hook ups.
The showers were free and hot all day, although there was no temperature control and my little girl found them too hot in the morning, so we showered in the evening, which was fine. The push buttons were fine in the ladies but my husband said they only lasted about ten seconds a push in the mens. We never had to queue. The toilets were fine, but were showing signs of wear [two seats broken] when we left at the end of the first week of August, so I wonder what they will be like by the end of the season. They were cleaned daily but could use a more regular clean in high season. With the weather there was a demand for the only washing machine and tumble dryer, so queues [or putting washing on at 7am!] were inevitable.
The shop was limited but well stocked, and you could easily survive from it if you weren't too fussy. The people running the site and serving in the shop were very friendly. The playground was basic and the swing looked about to fall down, although it seemed robust enough with kids all over it. Dogs were welcome and there is a dog field near the toilet block with bins for poops, so no worries there.
The beaches are wonderful here. Mewslade was a real trek and very difficult to get down to with a small child and an old dog, so we didn't bother to return, but it was nice once there [check the tide times as there's no beach at high tide!]. In August on a sunny Saturday Rhossili wasn't even vaguely crowded. What an amazing beach, our beach of choice despite the five minute hike down the concrete path to reach it! We went to Oxwich too [these beaches are dog friendly] but didn't bother going anywhere else as both these beaches are wonderful. Car parking [stacks of space] is £2.50 per day for both of these. There were good cafés at both, and the Worm's Head hotel does good bar food too. Further afield the King Arthur Hotel in Reynoldston served the best food we've had in a long time, and the moor walks were super. Wonderful coast walks, and the path across the top of Rhossili Downs is fantastic.
I would return here and would recommend it as despite the appalling weather we had a good time.

Almost overshot the entrance as the sign is difficult to see - needs something on the opposite side of the road.
Reception/booking seemed to be efficient and friendly. Shown to a good sized pitch. Shop is an aladins cave of essentials (food/drink etc.) and surf boards and kites with frienldy staff.
Would recommend this site and enjoyed our two night stay - easy to get to local beaches and Rossilli.
Had a bit of a laugh in the showers, the timed push button only gave 7 secs of water before having to press the button again. Next shower only 5 seconds and finally on last morning only 3 seconds! A minor niggle but not enough to put me off returning. Showers could also do with cleaning more frequently but again nothing I could not live with.
I did like the sites support for air ambulance - i.E. Plastic shopping bags cost 5p to the fund, late departure when they are not busy = donation to air ambulance - well done guys & thanks.

Really excellent site- Large private pitches, toilets clean, warm showers, good dish washing facilities, interesting stone circle. A shop with everything you could possibly need.
Beautiful walks to Mewslade Bay, 20 mins away. Best nearest eating Reynoldston- very good Hotel, dogs allowed outside.
We'll definitely return to this site- glad its a no music allowed- although a few did ignore this.
Friendly helpful staff, all round excellent holiday.
