We stayed here for two nights on a very sunny Mothers Day weekend. After the wet previous couple of weeks, the grassed areas were a little soft, but the pegs remained in the ground, so was OK. Other reviewers have mentioned the wind, and there is a prevailing onshore wind. Extra stronger guy lines would help you here.
The site is clean and tidy. The ablution block has everything you would need for an extended stay, with a very nice indoor dishwasher area for us campers. Plenty of clean showers and loo's. The on site shop is well stocked, and the young lady in there was more than helpful when being booked in, and during our stay.
We caught a bus to Rhossili, which given the area were surprisingly frequent, but not too accurate to the timetable. Rhossili was lovely, but we did have the weather. The food and beer in the Worms Head Hotel was excellent. It was packed there but didn't have to wait long for the food.
There are plenty of nice coastal walks which are accessible from the campsite.
A nice site.

I attended Pitton Cross Campsite 7th to 9th October 2016 in a one man tent with EHU. We arrived early at 10am and was met by friendly staff who were only to happy happy to allow us to pitch early before the 1pm time as it was quiet on the site.
The Shower and toilet block were clean and well maintained with plenty of hot water. Only criticism is the block was cold at this time of the year as you get out of the shower.
The park was spotless and regularly saw a man picking litter and dog mess up to keep it that way.
I didn't use the playground but it looked in good condition. The shop was well stocked and reasonably priced.
A short drive to the beautiful; Rhossili beach and Wormshead and a short drive to a small supermarket shop and Fish and Chips.
Overall a great site that I will no doubt visit again in the future.

Booked in at this site last minute. The site itself has wonderful sea views and a walk straight from the site down to the beach. Facilities were good - with plenty of hot water. Owners were friendly and advised on the area and places to walk our dog. The on site shop has all the basics you would need - and more! Had some good days out - including a fantastic walk along the fabulous Oxwich Bay beach, a must if you're in the area.

We were given a choice of 2 pitches and chose one facing the sea, which was lovely. It was very windy, but would expect this in this area. The owner was most unfriendly and only told us the bare necessities. We had to find the toilet block, water tap etc ourselves. Have always been shown where these are on other sites. We always knew when there was a new arrival, because he came speeding at about 15 mph in a cart to show them to their pitch. There was clouds of dust when he went passed. Considering the speed limit for the site is 5mph, he does not comply with his own rules. Just hope a child does not run out infront of him sometime. We had a pleasant stay otherwise. Walked to Rhossili and Worms Head, which was lovely and breathtaking. Felt as though we had had some good fresh air! The showers on the site were plentiful and clean. The site had a shop which sold necessities and was also a kite shop which seemed to be popular. When the weekend came, the site was very busy, there were large groups of young people in tents and the shepherds huts.

Site quiet when we stayed but everything clean and kept tidy. The owners working hard on improvements and the Shepherds Hut area was being re-vamped.
We had a hard-standing pitch with ehu, lovely views over the fields down to the coast. Toilets and showers were very well kept, and there are plenty of them.
The shop has a good stock and is also a kite outlet - many kites from small children's up to massive stunt kites, a really good selection.
From the site we walked to Worm Head, about 40 minutes to the NT site then a further 45 minutes or so over the causeway when the tide is out (about 2 hours a day you can cross). There is a path from the site that leads you onto the Wales Coastal path and down to the beach.
The owners were super friendly and always around the site working away, whilst it was quiet when we stayed would imagine its a busy site as the season gets going.
There is a convenience store about a mile away which sells pretty much everything including fresh bread, vegetables etc - all good quality. There is a chip shop next door which is seasonal.
We tried another nearby site before settling on this one, for £20 per night including showers and ehu it was considerably cheaper and we thought good value for money.

Very well presented site with close distance to the sea and nice farm land walks today around the local area. From arrival to departure everything was spotless clean. There would have been enough toilet roll to fill a football ground same as soap very good. Boiling hot shower block will be returning in the summer for a second visit. This site even has little wooden camping huts on the site. Child friendly was 1/10 as we didn't have a child but we did see a park for the children as well as a little fishing lake on site

Two of us stayed for five nights in early September and were very pleased with our choice of campsite. We were greeted by welcoming staff who checked out the best available pitch for our tent and guided us there. (There had been an unseasonal amount of rain in August and to the site's credit they were not putting tents on the wetter pitches. ) Our pitch was a generous size with EHU.
We were impressed with wonderfully clean toilets and showers. The washing up room is indoors which is much appreciated in cooler or wet weather. Again this was always clean and tidy. A laundry room is attached.
The shop was well stocked with essentials as well as gifts and kites etc. It was reassuring to see the owner/staff touring the site and very pleasantly reminding people of the rules when these were not being observed.
The campsite is reasonably sheltered; certainly one evening when it was very breezy at Rhossili, it was relatively still back at the tent. Don't forget to pack a torch as there is very little lighting on site (great for seeing stars on a clear night. )
Thoroughly recommended.

Unfortunately our weekend trip to London was cancelled after our host broke his leg! As a second choice, we headed to The Gower and chose Pitton Cross on the strength of previous reviews.
We received a warm welcome on arrival and were shown to a quiet field a few hundred yards down a farm track. The pitch was mown and level but surrounded by long flowering grass so hay fever sufferers beware. Hidden amongst the grass we found hundreds of orchids! The shop is very well stocked and the toilets and showers kept clean and tidy. £20 per night for two and a tent seemed expensive but this is the going rate for the area.
A footpath from the site leads down to the coast path and some breath-taking rocky scenery. Turn left for Port Einon or right for Rhossili. Both exhilarating walks.
The best restaurant we found was The Smugglers Haunt in Port Einon and the pub there, called the Ship, was OK too. Elsewhere, The King Arthur Hotel at Reynoldston was worth a visit but the winner for us was The Worm Head Hotel with views across Rhossili Bay. If the wind drops and the sun shines the terrace here is superb and the local beer, cider and food was good too.
Although there are a couple of small shops and fuel stations around there was a distinct lack of local produce on sale so I suggest you stock up in Swansea on the way through.
So get well soon, David Grohl. Our visit to Pitton Cross cheered us up no end and nearly compensated for our disappointment at missing out on a Foo Fighters gig!

About our 10th year at this site with our tent, we love it. Facilities are excellent. Flat pitches in small 'field' areas so doesn't seem too big. They only fill it up to the capacity of their showers, loos etc. So very rare to queue for anything. Very friendly helpful staff. Small shop which stocks enough basics and some gifts, kites, spares etc and beach equipment. Shop and post office and chippy and pub about two miles away, plus garage and shop at Knelston and pub at Rhosilli with stunning views. Views of sea from site. However don't expect supermarket shopping on Gower. Plenty of good pubs in the area though not all of them allow dogs.
Have widened the tracks and put in more drainage, but tent pitches drain well anyway. Generous sized pitches. Small children's playground which seems very popular with all ages.
Plenty of hot showers, washing up facilities, laundry room with machines and sink, baby room with raised level bath, disabled shower and loo, information/tourist room. Everything kept very clean by staff. Dog walks with bins from site.
Lovely walks from site, including down to Mewslade beach which is gorgeous though a bit of a scramble just at the end. Also a car park for this in next hamlet on the way to Rhosilli.
This is a lovely area with lots to do for walkers and beach lovers but little in the way of wet weather entertainment, but that's what probably keeps it so beautiful.

Our Timber Tent which is a wooden hut with a tented porch was located in the Scamper Holiday area for Shepherds Huts and Timber Tents. Our Timber Tent provided 2 full size beds with storage in the timber hut and basic gas cooker with kitchen utensils, chairs and a small table. There was a gas BBQ outside as well. I found it more spacious and functional than the Shepherds Huts which look like Gypsy Caravans. This is the case because if it is raining you have cover in the porch which can also be sheltered by the zip up tent or opened up for good weather. A wind break was also provided along with fresh towels and bedding for all temperatures. An electric fan heater was in the bedroom and a heat lamp was provided in the tented porch to keep us cosy.
I stayed there with 3 teenage girls and found it cosy and not too cramped. We could all eat on the porch comfortably. We could also make use of the grass area where there were chairs and a small bench provided. Our Timber Tent was a short distance from the shower/toilet block which was to a good standard with private showers. Next to this was a Dishes Washing up room with four sinks enough for a full camp ground in season.
The staff were very helpful on arrival and I found everything suited me fine. I would check the inventory before signing off on the deposit as there were a few items missing or no longer provided.
The On site shop was well stocked most days but I found they were lacking in providing a few more common basics like spagettie sauce mixes. There was fresh milk and treats but very few fresh vegetables contrary to what as advertised in their website.
The closest beach is Mewslade Cove which is about 1. 7 miles away through fields and a pleasant walk. However, the tide comes in very early about 3-4 p. M. And it is a very small cove so can become crowded quickly. The surfing is good but not so high as Rhossilly Bay which is about 2-3 miles in the next cove toward Middleton.
I found the camp site quiet except for during the week when there is a local music festival 25th of July for 4 nights in the field nearby.
I would give this camp ground 4 out of 5 stars. People were friendly, staff was on site for extra advice and assistance daily. Professional cleaners doing the cleaning so that is a bonus. You just wash up dishes and turn in the key.
Ideal location for walkers since it is near the coastal path so that is a bonus. I would not take very small children there since unless you have a car it will be difficult to get to and from the beaches. There is a small play ground on site.
Dogs are welcome and there is a Dog Area for walkies. Dogs must be on the lead at all times when walking around.
However, there is a bus stop outside the camp entrance with good connections to Swansea and the other parts of The Gower.
