Booked for a week and even though we had awaful wind and rain on the Sunday before our Monday departure would have happily stayed longer.
As for the site its perfectly located in respect of easy access from the main road to Rhossili, the welcome on arrival was warm and the owner accompanied us and showed us which pitches we could choose from.
Must say all pitches appeared generous in size. Liked the idea that the site itself is sub divided into smaller areas and most of these have a bit of protection from the prevailing winds thanks to small bushes and trees that will mature over the years.
This site is in great walking country and 4 or so walks start from the site itself, good for dogs (which need to be kept on leads due to local live stock).
The loos and laundry as well as shop/reception are by the main entrance which for some campers in certain areas of the park will present a lengthy walk, this is purely due to local planning conditions as the site is in an area of Natural Beauty and further development is a forbidden. This should not discourage you from using this site.
As for the facilities apparently according to my Wife the Ladies are much better than the Mens with individual wash cubicles as well a plenty of loos and showers.
The Mens comprise of 4 or 5 loos and showers as well as 3 urinals, this might be a little hard pressed to cope in peak season but we stayed when the site was quiet and all was fine including plentiful free hot water in the washrooms and showers.
The washing up room which comprised of 4 sinks all for washing up only had located at its far end a good laundry facilty including 2 automatics as well as 2 tumble driers plus a sink soley for clothes washing.
Outside of the main area there are 2 waste water/cassette disposal points, around the site itself there are plenty of drinking water points.
The shop is adequate as regards essentials and majors heavily on kites, surf equipment, beach goods as well as fishing gear and bait so the outdoor enthusiast will be well catered for. There is small playground for the younger members which appeared fine and no doubt receives good use in main season.
If you are into on site clubs/bars and amusements then stay away as Pitton Cross thankfully is not that way inclined.
Mobile reception hit and miss so be warned. The phone mast other reviewers referred to is not as significant as I expected. Digital freeview was fine on our ariel and other visitors that I spoke to so if you take TV you will be fine.
Overall nice relaxing site with friendly owners who are happy to give local info (there is also a small tourist info room stacked with brochures on site. Great location and the views and walks are excellent. Away from the site take plenty of change for payment as all of the local beach and car parks require payment even if its only a quick Dog Walk it will cost you around £4. 00 a go.
We will be going back to Pitton Cross as we were very pleased with our first visit to the Gower and this site in particular.

I booked this campsite based on other reviews I had read, to be honest I was disappointed mainly due to the amount of mud on the hardstandings. We were on the hardstandings on the left as you drive onto the campsite which were of a good size but part gravel and earth. Good job we didn't want to put the awning up as the grass area we had was full of mole hills and boggy!
The toilets and showers were really nice, clean and modern and always plenty of hot water, next to this was a washing up area and laundry room, washing machines were £3 and the tumbles £1 for 25 minutes. The reception/shop would be opened up when the owners seen you coming but sold mostly gifts, some sweets and ice cream but no bread or milk this time of year, but local shop mile or so away. Also a cracking chip shop, try the cod, freshly cooked so bit of a wait but worth it!
Good dog walk area, a track along some fields which I assume are used for camping in summer but this would be quite trek to the loos for the campers, didn't walk too far down the track as became very boggy!
A couple of miles down the road from Rhossilli Bay (a bit of a hike to get down there and back up) but to be honest much prefer the beaches down Pembrokeshire.
The owners were really friendly and often walking around the site with his dog. Do think more could be done to the pitches to sort out the muddy problem, like re-do them with concrete or chippings. Not well lit up in the night at all need more lighting especially as it was dodge the frogs on the first night because of the heavy rain!
Small playpark for young kids, good sea views for most of the campsite. Quiet at night, not too windy but then we are used to the pembrokeshire winds.
All in all good facilities just a shame about the pitches

We stayed here last summer for our first time camping. Pitches well marked and decent sized.
Site was very busy but pleasant with plenty of kids playing.
Loads of showers toilets and sinks and only once had to wait even at very busy times. Lots of lovely hot water. All clean and functional (even a hair dryer and mirror!) Shop was pretty well stocked although not huge. Wash up areas were fine.
My two kids enjoyed the small play park although it wasn't great.
Only real complaint being that the grass clippings hadn't been collected so by the end of the week everything we had was covered and the tent full.
Otherwise very nice site, close to nice beaches would definitely visit again.

First of all the positives. The Gower is a great place for walking and surfing holidays, and this location puts you close to both of these activities.
The owners are lovely people, and were very accommodating.
On to the negatives. I wasn't impressed with the cleanliness of the toilet blocks, and there are not enough shelves/hooks in the showers. I soon learnt what time the cleaner came in and arranged to arrive just as she finished! And to be honest, this is pretty much the only negative. I cant really blame the campsite for my pitch flooding, the rain was ridiculous the last two days.

We stayed at this beautiful, exposed, remote campsite in August. We just turned up and luckily they had a few pitches spare. We were able to pitch where we liked.
The coastal path and scenery is stunning, but being high up on the Gower, we were exposed to some extreme weather. We apologise now to the other campers for the noise our 'storm straps' on our awning made throughout the night of the gale force winds and rain!
Showers were always hot and plentiful, really liked the mop and bucket encouraging users to clean the showers after use, which everyone did. Owners very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Good shops are few and far between, as are cash machines. A good base to explore the area.

Stayed here for the first time and was very impressed - toilets clean, shop perfectly stocked and the surrounding area WOW!
Our pitch was in the overflow field (by our choice) and we had were thus afforded perfect serenity every night. Yes it was a bit of a hike to the facilities but a morning constitutional wakes you up for the day ahead!
Love this site - love this part of the world. It is like Cornwall but better (no traffic jams!)
Perfect area for walkers, anglers, kiters, surfers - great!

Just returned from a weekend at this site,We were very impressed with it overall,it was quite quiet and very spacious with level pitches.
We liked the fact that there are plenty of hedges so you can be a bit secluded but this isn't true of all the pitches the shop sells a few basics and some souvenirs.
The showers are hot and clean although there aren't very many. It can be a little breezy but they cant be responsible for the weather. The site is quite isolated and its a bit of a drive to get anything although there is a pub not far away called the country man (i think) that serves very nice reasonable priced food.
The only bad point about this site is the tariff, we went with another couple and had the same sized pitch but because our tent was bigger than there's we paid quite a bit more and to be honest this would put me off going back there because the facilities didn't match the price

This has become our quick getaway campsite with it being so close to home. It's a lovely campsite we always book an electric pitch and they are well maintained. The toilet and shower blocks are some of the cleanest we have ever seen as is the washing up area. There's a small on site shop which could do with a better selection of stock in regards to food, it also has camping / fishing and kite flying stock. The playground the kids love although there's not a great deal there they love the freedom of going there and they are always within ears range of the electric pitches. There is a chip shop, pub and spar type shop less than a 5 min drive away and a further 5 minutes is a large texico which has a good selection of food. You have got close beaches. Oxwich bay, Horton and rhossilli are all a very short drive away but there is a hidden gem. Mewslade is within walking distance from the site for the able but be warned check the local tide times in the information on the campsite as you can only get on it during low tide. It's a well placed campsite if you want to explore the gower.

Just back from spending 4 nights at this wonderful site and I can't recommend it highly enough.
The pitches were spacious, level and well marked out and the site is very well maintained with badly worn pitches being rested and the grass kept nice and short.
The showers are plentiful, hot and free and we never had to queue even though the site was full. A bucket of clean soapy water was provided to clean the floors after showering which kept the floors nice and clean. There are also plenty of individual washing cubicles.
There are four washing up sinks and a sink for clothes washing plus pay washing machines and dryers.
The shop on site stocks a range of food and camping essentials as well as sweets, newspapers and souvenirs all at a reasonable price.
Our pitch was in the Stone Circle field and we had a lovely view out to sea, plus the surrounding undergrowth and the circle itself allowed our children lots of room to roam and go adventuring with their new friends.
The on-site playground didn't hold their attention for long but there was plenty of open space for ball games, kite flying and simply running around being children. For all that, the site was quiet at night (perhaps all that fresh air wore them out!)
The loos were a bit of a trek from our pitch and I have to admit to taking the car once or twice in times of urgency ;-)
The owners are very friendly and helpful.
The site is very dog friendly, with plenty of space to exercise your dog in the field next to the camping fields, so you don't need to go far for the that last thing at night walk. There are several dog poo bins too.
The surrounding area is beautiful. We had some fantastic days out at the beaches at Rhossili, Llangennith, Oxwich and Port Eynon. The walk down to Rhossili is quite hard work which is why we tried Llangennith, which is a bit of a drive but the car park is just the other side of the dunes to the beach. At Oxwich it's even easier - the car park is right next to the beach! Most beach car parks cost £3-4 per day.
It is more remote than we expected - we laughed at the Sat Nav when it said it would take best part of an hour to do the last 15 miles - but it was right! Take plenty of cash with you, most cashpoints in the area are the sort in shops that charge for withdrawals and large grocery shops are rare.

This was our second visit and we were not disappointed, however there are some things to be aware of. We were again camped in the top field -fabulous views but be aware it always seems to be very windy on these pitches. Go through the gate and the wind drops away! What we did notice was that around 7.30 in the evening the wind dies down and you have a pleasant evening.
On the positive side the facilities are great.Hot showers all day, shop and friendly staff.
The walks to Mewslade bay are well worth it. Amazing beach and views that were breathtaking. Also worth a visit are Rhossilli (park in churchyard if early - free otherwise £3.00) and Oxwich Bay (£4.00 car park).
The shop in Scurlage is good for fresh cooked pasties etc for picnics and reasonable in price. Didn't try pub or chippie. If you visit Port Eynon on a Wednesday and the food fayre is on. Try the Rocky Road bars from the 'little welsh deli'.Very yummy treat
We had mixed weather, but despite waking up to an indoor water feature one morning (tent problem not site). We had a relaxing break.
