About our sixth visit to this site, we always stay for two weeks and love it. Our summer meant it was pretty 'soft' when we arrived but we were helped by Roger and Ian to find a drier spot. We had very mixed weather but the spot remained useable. Always receive a very friendly welcome.

Site is large but divided by hedges which make it pleasant and helps if windy conditions - also means lots of birds (and bats, swallows and frogs from the little reservoir). Nice flowers planted at entrance and around site.

Facilities are excellent - electric hook-ups and hard standings, lots of space, plenty of very clean loos and free hot showers (though less in Men's), disabled facilities, hairdryer in ladies, baby room with counter height bath, laundry with sink, washing machines and dryers, visitor room with all information needed for the area and great washing up facilities. Recycling facilities. Can be a bit of a walk to facilities from some areas of site, but owners not allowed to build anywhere else because of local planning restrictions, as Gower is Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty

Since last year a new playground has been installed, a big improvement and covers the whole age range, more work on drainage for the site, new double glazed doors and windows on facilities and Roger has a big new mower that picks up the grass, so no bits in your tent!

Camp shop sells the basics, though no fresh veg, but a well stocked food freezer and always plenty of milk + a range of gifts and is the Gower Kite Centre. Also beach equipment and wet suits.

Plenty of nice walks from site, including to local beaches - Mewslade is lovely, though a little scramble through rocky cleft at entrance (I'm 64 but can do it!), need to know tides as it comes right to top, can also access it from car park at Pitton. Also famous Rhossili - steps down but well worth it and Oxwich - accessible by car with car park and food and ice cream kiosks at beach. Mumbles is old fashioned seaside town, Swansea great by bus, nice flat walk to see Worms Head from Rhossili car park. Pick your own samphire on salt marshes on North Gower. Great walk over Rhossili Down to other end, then back along beach or lower ledge.

Helvetia Restaurant at Rhossili is good pub grub with magnificent views, went to Llangennith to Kings Head - good meals and menu and can take dogs into bar but not lounge. Fish and Chips at Scurlage brilliant - cooked to order and a slice of lemon if you don't like salt and vinegar. Small shop at Scurlage and bigger one at garage at Knelston though meat selection often a bit poor, Co-op at Killay is nearest supermarket.

Nearly forgot - the Gower is beautiful.

Arrived in pouring rain, so no welcoming committee ! Told to pick spot then sign in tomorrow ! Would have liked more info but I do understand ! No decent phone coverage or wifi which was annoying & refreshing.

Toilets were outdated but large, clean & fine. Site was pretty full but because it's spread around several fields it didn't feel full. Play park was fine for my 6 year old.

Lovely walks from site. Loved Rhossilli which was just down the road. Bought a fab kite from the shop, actually ended up buying 3 they were so good. I would recommend & go again.

This was a perfect site for anyone who enjoys walking across the cliffs with spectacular views and friendly natives.

The camp site was well laid out and while we had worried that it would be too organised it was just right with the facilities you needed appropriately signposted and just sufficient instructions for making all visitors feel comfortable.

There was adequate facilities for servicing the motor home in terms of water and chemical disposal. The hook ups etc worked - what more can I say about them!

The shower block was clean and well lit with a large number of shower cubicles and toilets for the ladies and hairdryers and large vanity mirrors.

The place is quite isolated if you are intending to take a break from driving its important to check bus time-tables and check if the routes involve changes if you don't want to spend considerable time waiting for connections.

There are a number of beautiful coves in the area and the trip into Swansea using the Van was easy to do.

The camp shop was well stocked and the staff extremely helpful.

Will certainly be planning a return trip the Gower Coast around there is just amazing.

A very nice site with a good shop nice staff who own the caravan site.

I would not go back again though, this is a list of good 1st

Large well spread out site with many (fields) to use depending on your unit

Great location for the sea and local area in general best beach Rossili by miles

The worms head

Coastal path and a cave which name has gone from my head

Shop was great and very friendly staff

Very large toilet area for men but small shower area, no area to get dressed inside the showers, so was forced to use the benches outside showers, very dark after dusk

Was told to use disabled shower which was great

Loads of signs about hot water, if it runs out let them know, it was warm at best

My wife’s showers were much better

Toilet waste area was poor, either a loo or a hole in the ground with a flush

Hard standing was hard core like in a building site so uneven and some large stones

Grass area very uneven also where over the years people had parked and left channels

A back to basic style site, nothing wrong with this by the way, it just seems that if they spent as much time with the quality labels and stickers as a bit of gardening it would notice

Also power cables run through the site

In summary this is the best site for this part of the area

Stayed for 5 days lovely and sunny

We visited this location over the Jubilee/Half Term holiday week. My overriding memory will be of something totally outside of the sites control – gale force winds which arrived on a Thursday night, sweeping across the South West and led to us scurrying to put down the tent in wind and rain before it suffered serious damage.

The site is in a great location near Rhossilii Bay with coastal views from most pitches. Reception is just off the roadway and has a reasonably well stocked shop selling essential groceries, newspapers and a good selection of quality gifts and toys, specialising in kites.

Staff were friendly and helpful. You get to choose your pitch on arrival and inevitably some are further from the toilet block than others, some have better views etc. Arrive early to get the best would be my advice here.

The toilets, laundry and washing up are located in a building back by reception. They are plenty of all, with no queues even over the busy holiday week.

The toilet and shower block is not the smartest I’ve ever seen and could probably benefit from a refurbishment but is perfectly functional. I was a little disappointed that having been told when booking a number of months earlier that they would have a new children’s play area that this was only being installed at the end of the week we were there.

There are a number of excellent beaches in the area, Rhossili itself is nearest but we preferred to drive to the other end of this bay to Llangennith where there is a car park and a short walk through the dunes.

This beach is heavily populated by surfers and whilst there is a £5 car park charge this can go towards a discount at the excellent Eddy’s cafe bar at the top end of the beach car park.

The Gower Heritage Centre nearby is a reasonable and cheap day out and slightly further afield is Swansea and The Mumbles – the LC swimming pool and water park is a good option on a wet day, but book in advance as it gets busy.

This is a remote and very attractive part of the country. We saw a couple of other sites whilst in the area and this did look the best in terms of facilities and potential exposure to the elements. Whilst the remoteness of the Gower does mean it takes a long time to drive here it is certainly worth it and I would return to this campsite again.

Mixed views about Pitton Cross. We stayed in the middle of the school holidays and were placed on the 'overflow' summer camping field.

It was generally flat with plenty of space between pitches. We were taken to the field and given several choices, which was good.

On arrival the computer system was playing up and our booking couldn't be accessed, as we booked online. After waiting a while, the booking eventually came through phew!

Immediately we were struck by how far the field was from the main facilities. We were taken down the dirt track, which was approx 200m long. There was no lighting along the track with open fields to both sides. This wasn't ideal and made loo trips tricky before bed. Take a really good torch or lamp!

The facilities were pretty clean, regularly wiped and mopped each morning. 4 male showers and toilets plus urinals. This was similar for the women. The laundry area was a bonus as was the family room.

The shop was stocked with the basics and a good selection of kites and toys. They ran an ice pack token system 20p each swap.

Great fish and chip shop and groceries at Scurlage and a pub, 5 mins in the car.

Rhossilli Bay was breathtaking. A huge beach with lovely sand overlooking Worms Head. However, it's a long trek from the high car park- 100 + steps and very steep, not buggy friendly!

Nice snack bar and pub at the top too.

Mumbles is about 35mins away, and we enjoyed the delights of Langlands beach.

Overall, it's a great area to visit, lots to do if you don't mind driving.

The site was ok, but you felt a little out of it on the overflow field. Didn't really venture onto the main field but it looked a little cramped full of caravans and tourers.

Didn't think it was right that both camping areas were priced the same, the overflow should be cheaper because of the hike to the facilities.

Apparently they are unable to build on this land due to planning restrictions.

On the bright side, the overflow has good views across the bay, but little or no shelter, and it gets very, very windy. One of our poles cracked and the tension straps were ripped off, that's how windy!

Would we go back? Maybe, on the main site.

All round a good site, looks a bit shabby and scruffy on first appearances, but probably just rustic and not as tidy as a CC site.

Facilities clean and well looked after, showers had lots of tiny frogs in them, so be warned. Lots of slugs in the long grass too, wildlife galore!

Only two small mini-markets close-by, anything large is about 25 mins drive away, so come with everything you need in terms of food.

Beaches lovely nearby, not too much for a rainy day though, unless you head back to Swansea way. That's one reason why we perhaps won't be going back again, need inexpensive things to do on wet days with small kids.

Owners friendly, took us to our pitch on arrival. Play area needs updating, quite basic and old. My two liked the stone circle best.

A lovely little site, spotlessly clean facilities and very friendly owners. Spectacular walks and scenery, would recommend the walk to Mewslade beach, great fun for children and well worth the trek back up to the site. Will recommend to friends and return to this site.

We were fortunate enough to visit during a week of glorious weather and the kids were happy running back and fore to the little playground and exploring the rock pools and caves on Mewslade beach. Being locals and living only 15 miles from the site, it reminded us how fortunate we are to live in such a beautiful part of the world!

We stayed here for 3 nights in April, over Easter weekend, the campsite was full, yet we wouldn't have noticed. We had a lovely pitch in the dog free area and our children loved the fact that we were right by the park and had a large area in front of our pitch to play on.

Facilities were nice and close, very clean, and enough of them we never had to wait. Staff were very helpful and friendly.

The location was excellent, with fish and chip shop and little store down the round, that area is beautiful in general.

We will definitely be visiting again.

Just had our usual visit to this lovely site, though the first time out of school holidays. Half price for us oldies made it more attractive than usual!

Roger and family made us very welcome as usual. Facilities as always excellent, good showers, washing up, laundry and baby facilities. Always piping hot water. Camp shop has basics for food though no veg. Plus nice gifts and kites.

They definitely have the best welshcakes locally. Seaviews from several parts of site, but hedges give wind protection and divided areas mean you don't feel as if you are on a big site. People really DO clear up after their dogs, lots of poo receptacles on dog walks, we never saw any mess.

New drainage and track surfacing has been put in on Circle field and it has made a huge difference - and we had the rain to prove it over a 24 hour period. We understand that the rather basic children's play area may be the next upgrade though children seem to like it well enough.

Fish and chips at Scurlage are very good, we were offered a slice of lemon for our fish! Scurlage shop and Knelston Garage have limited ranges of food but a huge Tesco's on way into Swansea and a new Asda 'somewhere' towards Llanelli. Best to come with plenty of petrol or fill up at supermarket, can be expensive.

Visited Botanic Gardens of Wales and Llanelli Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust this time, highly recommend both. Bonus of going at this time of year was that the wild flowers are wonderful everywhere, we got quite blase about seeing orchids.

Recommend walk along/over Rhossili Down or out to Worms Head - latter is buggy and wheelchair friendly. Mewslade beach is wonderful, though you have to be able to walk to it or a shorter walk from the Pitton car park.

The Gower is a great place for walking and this site is by far the best we have ever been to, can't see us going anywhere else till we get too old to camp!
